Police will not enforce Trump's deportation plans

Every Nation that exists has borders and immigration laws. ANY nation that wants to remain a viable State controls said borders and Immigration.

You think this about cops????? How shallow of you.
I assure you, Chief Beck is a cop, not some loudmouth realtor.
No doubt. But the subject is the law. Which law? "Trump's deportation plans" cum law. You can't talk about support of decisions made by the police IN GENERAL. You can no more "support" the police than you can "denounce" them unless you speak in specifics.

Commies hate Nations

Everyone who doesnt lick Trumps boot is now a commie.
I didn't say that at all, dumbfuck

Thanks for confirmation. I know I've described you correct when all you have is a "I didnt say that" response and cant say what you are saying.
Ummm I didn't say it. Didn't even come close to implying it. You are just a dumbfuck. I DID say that :D

We have immigration policy and immigration law. It is quite legal to immigrate to the US.
And it's so difficult immigrate legally, that people would rather pay $3,000 - $5,000 to criminal coyotes to get into the country.
So amend the process, but ignoring the law isn't the answer. We do have the right to know who is here and why.

Sad. That's altogether too little to pay for a de facto US citizenship. And the presence of all these uninvited invaders is good reason to make it difficult to immigrate legally. If we get rid of the illegals we may be able to liberalize the legal process.

Illegal entrance into the US is a crime. Murder is a crime. Each is only one crime but doesn't make either any less a crime that deserves proper punishment.
Rewarding criminal entry punishes legal citizens unfairly.

It seems to me that capturing and/or killing foreign invaders is the responsibility of the federal government, not local police officers. It's not in their job description.

I never said that ignoring the law was the answer. But when the law is so onerous, burdensome, or just plain stupid (i.e. the 55 mph speed limit) it's going to get ignored. That is one thing that won't change.

False equivalence. Being an illegal immigrant is no higher on the criminal food chain than holding a bag of pot.

I read in THE TIMES of last Wednesday that the mayors of Los Angeles, Chicago, New York City, and Philadelphia say they will reuse to co-operate with Donald Trump's plan to deport at least two million immigrants. Charlie Beck, the Los Angeles police chief, said that his officers would stand by their decision of refusing to enforce some federal immigration policies, as they are obliged to do by some Californian laws and regulations. Chief Beck said that the LAPD was "not going to engage in law enforcement activities solely based on somebody's immigration status. We are not going to work with Homeland Security on deportation efforts. That is not our job, nor will I make it our job."

Charlie Beck -- a good cop

A law is only as effective as how it is policed. Trump has met his match if he wants to take-on American cops.

Good cops dont break federal law.

exactly

I didn't say they were equivalent as to severity or proper punishments; I said they were both crimes which they are. For that matter so is holding a bag of pot most places. Are you trying to argue that only the crimes you don't like should be punished?

It's all smoke and mirrors ... look carefully at what he said. He DIDN'T say he would refuse to comply with federal law and notify INS when they arrest an illegal immigrant for another crime.

He DID say that they were "..."not going to engage in law enforcement activities solely based on somebody's immigration status."

Two decidedly different things.

Besides - when he has to give up his salary because the federal government is giving aid to LA any more, the story will change.

Frankly - he is no less a criminal than the people he arrests if he refuses to enforce the law.

... both of which should be dealt with severely, and in accordance with current law.

True. Do you believe they should enforce any Federal law? Federal gun control laws?

They are not asked to "enforce federal law" --- they are only asked to notify INS when they come across a case of federal law violation. INS will take care of the rest.
