Out of Work, Sucks

Maybe this country needs a little tough times?

Maybe we need all our hard earned money stolen by hedge fund managers?

Maybe we need to put some people in jail.

That will happen, and what good will that do for you or those others negatively affected? We should move on and adapt. Those who do move on and adapt will be among the new successful. Those who steep themselves in anger and recriminations will stay that way, and will likely take themselves out of the game during a crucial period in their lives.

If you are implying that the current economic problems are the fault of the new administration, your head is so far up your ass your teeth floss will be brown.

The stimulus package has money to start over 600,000 jobs. That's not some frigging tax cut mantra from the right, that is real jobs. It's also not four years off like the lying sobs keep saying.

Read the plan and quit listening to Bitch McConnel and McCain.

I hope that Obama soon realizes that the current Repub leaders don't know what bipartisan is. He needs to just get this bill through the Senate and tell them sorry if you can't work together your not in power anymore.

Tax cuts don't stimulate the economy. And tax cuts for the rich on stimulate the rich.

Here is the problem many of us have with this bill. As you say, it will create 600,000 new jobs. That's great; the problem is that each of those jobs come at a cost of nearly $1.4 million. This is why conservatives get so frustrated with government spending. There is enough money in this package to create two million jobs and to pay for them for four years. Where is the rest of the money going? It's called pork, waste, garbage, whatever you want to call it.

If there is not a dollar for dollar return on this money, then it's not worth the cost, plain and simple.

This is today's problem in a nutshell and why government action isn't going to amount to much, if any, impact. If gov't gave you $5,000 stimulus check tomorrow, but you are still pretty sure you are going to lose your job by year's end, are you going to spend it? Or save it for your rainy days coming up? $10,000? At what point, knowing you are probably going to lose your job, do you go out and buy a big screen 1080p 120Hz 65" HDTV?

People ARE saving more, and that's very good for the long term.

Maybe this country needs a little tough times. Maybe people in this country need to toughen up a bit. Quit eating so much, walk more, work harder, knuckle down and quite whining you want the government to hand everything to you on a silver platter.

I'm not coming down on you Zoom, your point was good. I'm just saying in general.

a very good point followed up by a retarded one, nice work....

If there is not a dollar for dollar return on this money, then it's not worth the cost, plain and simple.

-There is a cost of start up materials and start up business costs, that does not come back right away, with any new creation of jobs or business....

-you are also not calculating the entire return on investment that will come from some of these projects...

as an example, if it cost 100 billion to fix failing bridges and schools and interstate highways and only 20 billion of that goes towards the labor...the jobs of those hired to produce such,

there will still be billions of dollars coming back to us in the long term from the better interstate commerce and from educating children in a better environment....than an old and falling apart asbestos filled or rat filled classroom or unheated classroom.

And lastly, i think perhaps you are not calculating in what the gvt will get back in return in taxes on the jobs created and business's profits, that offsets some of the stimulus amount right off the bat.

Having said all of that, if there ever was a time to not have PORK in congress's spending, it is NOW....but it seems they just don't get it....

It isn't all said and done yet though, the Senate could strip this down, and make it more efficient, because they MUST accomodate the republicans in the Senate, due to their rules of the senate....plus, i heard obama talk yesterday and i don't think he wants or approves of this bill's pork....so maybe he can influence the senate to get rid of the fat.

Sorry dude, "Bush Rules" apply. The MINUTE Obama said "I do," it's ALL HIS.

Why don't you try listening to the news? Savings are up, spending is down. People are socking their money away.

Your stimulus package isn't doing anything but bailing out the rich, and GMAFB on starting over 60,000 more jobs. You mean more government jobs because that fat tick of a bureaucracy ain't fat enough?

Then there's the fact that it's BEYOND hillarious you saying ANYONE doesn't know what bipartisan is. Your idea of bipartisan is your way every time.

Get a grip on some reality, huh?

Wholey crap, do you people ever pay attention to what you actually say?

Remember the constant line " the recession Bush inherited from Clinton"?

Do you remember constantly saying that 911 was Clintons fault?

Yet the first WTT 1993 attack was all Clintons fault too even with the fact that it happened 20 days into his watch.

Who is the president who insisted all this cash go to the big guys without proper oversite?

Dudes , foodstamps , extended UI , state funds so they can free up money for ither prodjects, infrastructure which is ready to roll.

This is all going to help keep us out of the complete gutter, You guys are the ones who drove the car at full speed aiming at the gutter.

Excellent point. I think this is a great point the Republican party should stress over, and over. Don't you?

I agree with John McCAin's economic advisor and top Republican economic strategist, Phil Gramm - this country is a bunch of whiners and the recession is all in our minds. Why it was only a few months ago that Bush voters were rushing to the message board to post that the economy was pretty darn good, despite all the doom and gloom talk of crazy libs!

I see our chum Red Dawn is one of those who advocates giving rabid Republicans enough rope to hang themselves.

The leadership of the Republican Party probably gets it by now, but as you can see their loyal following still hasn't gotten the latest Party talking points.

You know why they haven't?

Because the latest talking points don't give these nitwits the right to blame all the nation's woes on welfare mothers and the hapless victims of the crises

And spewing hateful vitiol at the unfortunate is what makes these hateful nitwits feel better about themselves.

You and REd Dawn are both full of it. You quoted Zoonie as saying something that in fact Pale Rider said.. And, what Pale Rider said is the truth. AMericans better learn to stop living beyond their means. No one was picking on welfare moms. DUmmies! If you don't have the friggin money don't spend it..

I don't need any of that stuff. But feel free to put on that hair shirt and self-flagellate, if it makes you happy.

Why anyone in his right mind would say people NEED to be miserable is beyond me...and that they aren't "good" if they aren't. What bogus shit.

I'll take the $1.4 for each of us on this end for being unemployed? Shoot we can open a small factory here with less than 2 of that 2.8 and put 4 other people to work for several years with a better income than they recieve currently for their efforts.

Repeat with a bit more info.

Small factories can be built in existing buildings. Retrofit them to accept light manufacturing.

The more small factories that provide usable products in locations throughout the states saves shipping cost. Thus relieves a small portion the "Peak oil" problems looming in the future.

anyway wasn't the estimate 3 million jobs created or saved, not this 600k figure being used ?

a typo?

600,000 x $100,000 = $600 billion....

i don't KNOW HOW the $1.4 million spent per person with the stimulus came about as a legit figure?

and that's if 600k and not 3 million new jobs created.

Do you work for a newspaper, or CBS, or a lobbying firm? If not, you really should, or perhaps stand for office where your opinions could really be of benefit to us all.

There are probably only and handful of people in the whole world who could be so bang on with everything. I congratulate you.
