Obama's Speech - comments

My GOP has to work with the Dems, or we will lose in the fall, period.

You wing nuts are wrong on this, period. And I won't argue it with you. So it's simple. Get on board, or get thrown overboard.

He's said 'I' and 'me' much less in this speech and 'we' more than I have ever heard.

I nearly fell off the sofa when he said off-shore drilling and nukes! :clap2:

On education - he did say that after 10 for gov't workers; 20 yrs for us regular jo's student loans would be wiped clean and that no student should spend more than 10% of their income on repaying those loans. Why do gov't workers get a 10 year break and who the hell is paying for the loans that don't get paid back?

I thought he said no lobbists at all when he was running?

Post earmarks on a website . . . is that going to work the same as posting bills for 72 hours or debating HC on CSPAN?

I'm done, Nip/Tuck is on and Kimber jumped off the yacht last week.

holy shit jillian....that was pathetic.

You seem to not know the context of Dude's original statement.
The context was empty promises and meaningless rhetoric.

But we'll just let that fly by in yet another shameless and flimsy attempt to....

And txlonghorn is right....It's pathetic.

well there you go...now the Taliban knows when they can start moving back into it's strongholds...

THE END OF AUGUST.... Another September 11 on the horizon?

I love it.

We can't cut taxes for the rich. We can't cut corporate taxes. We can't leave health care status quo. We can't ignore the middle class and education. We tried it for eight years and it didn't work.

Ooh, the Republicans were pissed, to put it mildly.

so much for bipartisanship...including closed door meetings excluding republicans...

Which Republicans are you talking about?

The "we want him to fail" Republicains?

The "This will be his Waterloo" Republicans?

The "We are only pretending to go along so we can sink the bill" Republicans?

The "He's not a citizen" Republicans?

The "He's a Nazi/Socialist/Marxist" Republicans?

The "Let's start a bipartisan commission and then vote against it" Republicans?

Which Republicans are you talking about?

Oh I'm paying attention. Can you tell me the last President in office who continually blamed the previous administration for just about every problem in the U.S.?

Bush and his Administration blaming Clinton.

Reagan blamed Carter too.

NEXT!

After a whole year?

Hey, the shit he inherited from the last guy is a lot worse than anything they had to deal with coming in. I'm glad to see him reminding the American people where this current shit began.

here we go....crisis inheritence..... blah blah blah blah...woe is me....i took office amid crisis that I can't fix...whaaaa whaaaaa

Ah, but it's true. A little Shrub-bashing was definitely in order and I'm glad he delivered. :D

Don't recall him saying he couldn't fix it, though.
I don't recall his fixing ANYTHING yet.

When I took office.

Before we took office.

In 2000.

How many times is he going to blame Bush?
'Til he dies.

Here he goes again appeasing the goddamned terrorists!

Nope, Ollie, I am Republican, but I won't tolerate wingnut crap, period. And the war in Iraq is over. All troops will be home by August.

Pride and Glory is on HBO:

Plot Synopsis by Jason Buchanan
Director Gavin O'Connor collaborates with Narc director/screenwriter Joe Carnahan on this family-focused police drama concerning an honest homicide detective (Edward Norton) assigned to investigate the precinct run by his potentially crooked older brother (Noah Emmerich). As the investigation begins to reveal some troubling facts about the precinct, it gradually becomes apparent that the policeman who is also the older brother's best friend (Colin Farrell) may be the man orchestrating many of the suspected crimes.
