Given what you just wrote, I find it odd that you hold the beliefs towards religion and belief in God that you do. Socialism has always sought to subordinate religion. Always. Even when it was one religion doing it against another religion (i.e. the dominant religion).

I see it for what it is and I support it (Christianity) in its traditional form. I see the alternatives which are, as you stated, Materialism and down the pike. It is a system that must be kept in place. People need something that unites them, that can be built around, as humans are tribal. If a culture does not have it, a culture which does (Islam), will walk right in and take over. As powerful as Socialism is...it cannot hold a candle to Islam. They have fragmented and are at the mercy of governments which will ultimately lead them toward full Marxism. Meanwhile the Muslims will sit united, taking every advantage of their host. I think that it's about about the symbolism and symbolically the leader of the Catholics of the world is sending the wrong message by washing Muslim's feet.
He should be telling them that if they dont accept Jesus Christ as their lord and savior that they will burn in hell for eternity. However he cant say that because he openly said that there is no hell.
He should be chastising the leaders of the Mideast and Africa for facilitating the death of millions of Christians over the last 25 years.
