Nick Saban is the greatest football coach ever

Coach Saban is the greatest of all time.
Total BS! When this fool was the coach of the Miami Dolphins, he passed on signing Drew Brees as the phins quarterback. Would you call that a move by the greatest coach of all times?

And Tom Brady was the 199th pick of the 2000 NFL draft. Apparently nobody knew he was worth anything.

Saban did not sign Brees instead he went a different direction, sending a second-round pick to Minnesota for Daunte Culpepper, And that is the reason Saban is hated in South Florida to this day, oh yeah other than the fact he is a bold face liar.
Remember: A decade ago, Nick Saban was finishing his second season as coach of the Miami Dolphins. Rumors had been swirling ... He told a bald-faced lie that he would remain the head coach of the Dolphins having no intentions of leaving

And the part you forgot was that he was asked not to tell it. By the owner. Sour grapes.

Maybe that makes Bill Belichick the best coach ever

If you by the number of Super Bowl wins, I would agree.

I never like these "best" comparisons. Best QB? Brady? Peyton manning? Joe Montana? Terry Bradshaw has been listed as a less than great QB but he was a winner. So best coach or best anything is tough. It all comes down to a fan's preference.

But I agree with you and if you go with Super Bowl Stats? Got to be Brady and Belechick.

And we'd have to lump Saban in with Bear Bryant for best college coach I guess.

One of the reasons I think Saban has separated himself from other coaches is his willingness to make some VERY tough ad risky decisions.

2 years ago he went with the onside kick that basically won the game.

This year, he benched his starting QB who was 25-2, had thrown only 1 interception in the entire season, and had led his team to 2 National Championship games. And he put a true freshman who had not taken any meaningful snaps in a college game into a game with more pressure than many seasoned QBs face in their career. And he did it against a team with an excellent, adaptable defense.

Saban has adapted better than most coaches, while maintaining a level of competition that no school has achieved. In the last 10 years, 5 different programs and head coaches have won a National Championship. In that same period, Alabama and Nick Saban have won 5. There are coaches who have come into quality programs, with quality athletes, and won. Saban inherited a disaster of a program and done amazing things.

Last nights National Championship makes it plain. Coach Saban is the greatest of all time.

I am sure some people will bring up some of the greats from years ago. But most of them had virtually unlimited numbers of scholarships. Most of them played the regular season and 1 bowl game. And the parity among the teams was not even close to what it is today.

One of the criticisms of Saban was that he is too rigid. Another is that he can't play up tempo and he can't beat up temp teams. Saban himself even argued against faster games and the up tempo play.

But he has adapted. He has changed his focus, both defensively and offensively.

And he has made some gutsy calls in the last few years. The onside kick against Clemson 2 years ago was not only gutsy, it was totally unlike Nick Saban. Last night, he benched a QB that was 25-2. One that got them to 2 Championship games. And he put in a true freshman who had not taken a meaningful snap in a college football game in his life.

Since coming to Alabama in 2007 he has won 5 national championships. 6 different teams duting that time have won 1 each.

He has won 6 national championship with 8 different coordinators under him. That is another amazing stat. Most coaches that have a good run do it with a consistent staff. Saban has had numerous coaches move on to head coaching jobs, taking his "secrets" with them. Nick is 12-0 against those former assistants.

Since coming to Alabama, Saban has won 132 games (5 were vacated - but he won them). That is an AVERAGE of 12 games per season.

I grew up idolizing Bear Bryant. And Bear was a great coach. But Saban has done more, with more restrictions, greater competition, and more parity in the league.
One of the sports shows reported that Coach Saban has recruited SEVEN 5 star players to help ensure more success in the future. Wild.

Nick Saban is the devil... or sold his soul to the devil. I hope he enjoyed his earthly life cuz the afterlife will be torture... at least as a Florida Gator fan I hope he is tortured. :) Great run at Alabama even if it was aided by dark magic. The "greatest" coach is definitely an opinion but hes in the argument.

There is no dark magic involved. Nick Saban is simply the best college football coach in the history of the game.

You claim that is just an opinion? That he is in the argument?

Saban has won 6 National Championships since he has been at Alabama (+ 1 at LSU).
He has won 8 SEC Championships (+ 2 more at LSU).
He had 70 players active in this years NFL season. No one else even came close.
He has coached 4 Heisman Trophy winners in 14 years. Again, no one else has been close.
He has had 15 consecutive 10+ win seasons.

In 2010 Saban went 10-3. That was his only 3 loss season. He has had 6 seasons in which he lost 2 games. And 7 seasons with 1 loss or less (2 undefeated seasons)

Tell me any other college football coach that even comes close. Coach Saban isn't in the argument. He IS the greatest. You can dislike him because he beats your team regularly. But denying he is the greatest is simply ridiculous.
