NBC News Panel: Obama Sees Democracy As 'Stumbling Block' To His Greatness'

wow... that fucking socialist channel... all they do is suck obama's dick.

Hey...they referred to "his gifts"...

I mean...no offense or anything...but right out of law school he was hired by a law frim....4years later he was still an associate...and he was doing nothing more than boiler plate contract review...something many firms have paralegals do.

The man may be briight....articulate....charismatic....but gifts?

What gifts does he have?

And if he has such gifts, then why cant he use them to get "this democracy" to allow him to apply his greatness?

Ah, yes...the Obama "gifts".

What's most amazing about Barack Obama is how he's somehow been accorded a mantle of intellect that he's never used for anything demonstratable in his whole life.

He was by his own admission a stoned slacker at Occidental College. Yet he managed to gain admittance to Columbia. Gee, think that was on his own merits or because of affirmative action? Then he managed to get into one of the most exclusive Law Schools in the world. Based on his college grades that wasn't happening...unless...you guessed it...affirmative action and some well heeled sponsors got him in.

Yes, he was the first black President of the Harvard Law Review but was that because he was the best person for that job or was it because Harvard was embroiled in a conflict over it's treatment of minority professors and the administration was pushing hard for the Law Review to elect a black? What's remarkable about Obama's tenure AS the President of the Law Review is that he's the only one in it's history never to publish something in the Review under his name.

Yes, he graduated from Harvard Law School Magna Cum Laude but was that because he was a gifted scholar or was that because he was assumed to be one because he was the first black President of the Law Review? One wonders why the Obama camp has had such reticence about releasing his college transcripts? If he really was a gifted scholar, why the reluctance to show what he took for courses and what he got for grades? When I attended college I had friends on the football team that graduated with degrees that I can honestly say never attended classes. They were all enrolled in classes that gave out A's like people give out candy on Halloween. It's amazing what institutions of "higher learning" will do to keep certain students academically eligible. Was the same done for Harvard's Law Review "poster boy"? I challenge anyone to come up with something "intellectual" or outstanding in any way that Obama ever wrote while he was in college.

Then there is his "job" working at a prestigious Chicago law firm following Harvard. He was allowed to go to Fiji for six months while being paid by the firm to work on the book he got a six figure deal on because...you guessed it...he was the first black President of the Law Review. How many associates do you know that start THEIR careers off lolling on the beach in Fiji?

Or his teaching position at the University of Chicago. Most professors write. I challenge anyone to come up with a learned piece of writing by "Professor Obama"?

Then he moved on to politics. As a new State Senator in Illinios he sponsored bills under his name for two and a half years and didn't see one of them passed. That's an O-fer, folks. It wasn't until he went to Emile Jones, the black godfather of Chicago politics and begged for help that his legislative record changed. Thanks to Jones, Obama was given bills that other Democrats had worked long and hard on to just sign his name to and call his own. As Jones told a reporter from one of the Chicago newspapers..."Watch me make a US Senator."

Thanks to Jones, Barack Obama soon found himself sitting in the US Senate where once again he was allowed to affix his name to the legislation of others simply because he was viewed as an up and coming "star" of the Democratic Party after giving his speech at the Democratic National Convention. The truth is...Barack Obama can't craft legislation. It's amusing actually...he was a "legislator" yet he can't write a bill to save his life.

There is a REASON why Barack Obama is struggling so mightily with solving the country's problems and that reason is that he doesn't have any solutions of his own. He relies on others to GIVE him solutions. I'm sorry but that isn't profile of someone with a "gifted intellect"...it's the profile of someone who has been designated intellectual without ever having proved it.

The direction is country is going, which is towards plutocracy, also threatens democracy. With money/wealth concentrated, who does our government (Prez & Congress) listen to? In a true democracy, all voices are heard, but in a plutocracy the voices listened to are just the few.

Just listen to GE/NBC. They know what's best for you.

Guess you guys didn't notice the smirks while they were talking.... they were being facetious.

I find this all very confusing.

When a right wing commentator makes a facetious comment, the left are all over, screaming like banshees, starting thread after thread and howling for blood.

When a left winger makes a facetious remark, we're all supposed to be fine with that.

Again... if it wasn't for double standards, the left would have no standards at all.

if it werent for double standards this populace might be able to trust one another.

Letting everyone get the idea that your "intellectually gifted" kinda takes a beating when your don't do anything thats "intellectually gifted"

His only gift is GE/NBC. White House Talking-Points 24/7.

You guys are joking, right? First of all, it was one guy on the entire panel who said that. Second, he was explaining what he sees as Obama's mindset - he was not saying that Obama is greater than democracy. Third, he was clearly joking. Fourth, it was JOE SCARBOROUGH. If any of you think that Scarborough is a fan of Obama, you're all much more ignorant than I thought. Hyperbole noted. Get. A. Grip.

Inaccurate interpretation. Scarborough did show some sanity but the other two were just being bizarre boot-licking bobbleheads. Watch it again. They fully agreed with Obama and how he perceives himself. GE/NBC has completely lost it.

It was two of a panel of two that were discussing it...and referring to his "gifts"
Joe and the other one were not part of the panel...they were the hosts...and Joe was the only one who had the look of "you gotta be kidding me" in regard to what those other two were saying.

His "gifts"......pathetic.

Scarborough is not an Obama fan, you're right but he can't stand Newt. They're all so snarky on that show that was taken out of context by all of the Repubs in this thread. And there are a lot of them.

Sheesh Repubs, jump all over every little comment.

Guess you guys didn't notice the smirks while they were talking.... they were being facetious.

No they were not.

But their point is, of course, totally different than what the wingnuts would have you believe. Their point is the same point I've made time and again. The President is naive in the way that Washington works. He was (and shockingly still seems to be at times) of the mindset that you could just look at what the other side puts out for a plan, come up with your own plan and the best plan will win. That should be the way it works but the reality is totally different. The GOP today is only interested in obstructing; not governing.

As for the video, the term "greatness" is Mr. Obama's wish to have a great Presidency. As with all men who have held the office, their egos are huge. Save for perhaps Ford and Carter. Each one goes into the Oval thinking they can get their face on Mt. Rushmore. Mr. Obama's thought about his Presidency are no different than those of Clinton's or Reagan's or Nixon's or ____________.

Paulitician must be bored to have posted something so obviously false.

I didn't hear it the way ya'll did.

To me it sounded like the consensus was that Obama is narcissistic and out of step with the nation. They sounded like they were seriously scoffing at Obama laying the blame for his failure on the rest of us. Or if not scoffing at least seriously noting that he does that.

Do people still get their News information from GE/NBC? Man,now i truly understand why our country is in such trouble. These people have lost it.

NBC News Panel Obama Sees Democracy As 'Stumbling Block To His Greatness' - YouTube

Should not be a Shock to anyone that Bothered to do even a little Research on the Man before he was President. He has made no attempts to hide his Views, He sees our entire system as being based on a Flawed Document, the constitution. He has said in the past the Constitution is a road block to Some of what he would do, and he wishes instead of being a list of what the Government can't do to us, that it was a list of what the government can do to us.

Hell since being elected he has basically been saying he thinks the Opposition should sit down and shut up. why? Because his Agenda could only pass if Democrats controlled it all. He does not like the Idea of the 48% of Americans that did not vote for him, having any say at all. Democracy tends to get in the way of Ideologues with an Agenda, from either side of the Isle.

I would say that is a very accurate assessment of the President. Many Presidents become Narcissistic, and Out of Touch once in Office, However Obama started out that way. The Person we were sold in the 08 Election never existed.

. The President is naive in the way that Washington works.

That of course is utter horse shit. Obama has proven he knows exactly how Washington works, and he is willing to work the system. The Debt Deal, his "JOBS" Bill, just 2 glaring examples of How well Obama knows how to work the System for Political Gain, to hell with getting shit done.

Wrong. OP title: Obama Sees Democracy As 'Stumbling Block' To His Greatness'. The only person who uttered those words was Scarborough. A couple of the other guys were trying to make the point that Obama believes his plans are being thwarted by a Congress that is stuck in the old ways, when he (Obama) sees the nation moving (or needing to move) in a new direction. Scarborough was clearly being facetious. I watch the show almost every morning before heading out to work. That was Joe being Joe.
