Nancy Reagan wants the healthcare bill

Doesn't honestly matter to me if she said it or not. I think the salient point here is that leftists want policy decisions made for every damned reason under the sun EXCEPT that it's good for America or what the majority of the people want.

Why are we having health care legislation sold to us as though it's toothpaste or a new car, on the basis of which celebrity they got to make the commercial?

Yeah....

So, which is "Good for America"?

Making sure every American has health coverage?
OR
Invading another sovereign nation, with no provocation except a pack of lies?

Because those were two major "Policy Decisions". One that "leftists" had a problem with, and one that they supported.

One of those decisions was a platform and a promise that a president-to-be ran on in a successful bid for election...

the other was a bunch of Bullshit that was predicated on a lie, which was supported by Republicans and rightists long after the entire basis of the war was proved to be false.

Which makes your entire statement categorically false.

Youre framing the question wrong. Which benefits America more:

Government taking your freedom to choose and determine your own destiny or

Government liberating others and winning them to the cause of freedom.

There is nothing good about giving up our freedom.

LOL, nice spin. Sounds like Orwellian "NewSpeak" to me.

The Government didn't predicate the Iraq war as a "war of liberation", they sold it to the American people as part of the War on Terrorism, which it had nothing to do with.

Invading another sovereign nation is NOT "good for Americans". We spent trillions of dollars and got thousands of Americans maimed or killed in order to "Liberate" some random middle eastern country that's going to now be ruled by a Shiite radical muslim majority instead of a Sunni one. Great.

Tell us, how will that pan out as "good" for the average American, hmm?

Rhetoric like this is just a tool to keep us enslaved by large corporations. Large corporations that "take away your freedoms" by charging a premium for everything right down to the air we breathe.

That's the true battle here. Not "Socialism vs Capitalism", it's "Socialism vs Corporate Oligarchy".

Nancy was ridiculed while she was First Lady. Not to the level of Hillary but she was universally disliked. She was considered to be an "Ice Queen" and not a good mother. One thing she was...she was unfailingly loyal to her husband and she defended him with all her strength.

Given her living with a husband with altziemers for so many years, I imagine she gained a unique perspective on the exsisting healthcare in this country. She realized what it means to care for someone who is really ill and what the demands are on a family. She must know the exceptional insurance she and the President have and feel for those who cannot pay for the care her beloved Ronney received

I'm a bit confused on how caring for a husband with Alzheimer's when that husband is a former President of the United States and thus entitled to the sort of health care offered to such people is supposed to have given her any perspective at all on healthcare as experienced by the rest of the nation. I see no indication that she "must" know anything at all concerning the differences between their insurance coverage and the rest of us.

Cecile, you do not get it. People of broad intellignce and empathy can observe and understand other people's plight without experiencing it.

The problem are people who only understand their own experience.

Are you that way?

Anyone with intelligence and empathy can also understand that just because others might be in a less than attractive situation, it does not then mean that you change EVERYONE'S situation in order to help those few out. When that is happening, then there is much more to the agenda than having 'empathy' for someone else's troubles. Someone else's troubles are being used to make a major fundamental change in the majority of people's lives in order to fascilitate the power grab of those making the fundamental changes. Anyone with intelligence would be able to understand and see that. If there are 20 million people w/o health insurance then assist those people and let the other 280 million who are happy with their situations alone.

She was just interviewed live by Chris Matthews on MSNBC.

Nancy of all people would understand the difficulty of being a care giver.

Chris i'm actually going to watch your back here.

This OP is a lie. Nancy Reagan was not interviewed by Chris Matthews.

If i'm wrong would someone please post a link . Every time I google for it I get THIS THREAD as my top result.

Actually Nancy Reagan WAS interviewed by Chris Matthews. So the OP is true. MSNBC airs Hardball live at 5PM EDT, then again at 7 PM EDT, and again the following morning at 2AM EDT. I don't know what their protocol is for when they release stuff to their website to be available but it is on there now. Here is the link:

Hardball with Chris Matthews

She said they are freinds
She likes the stem cell stuff kennedy was for she said. She said getting the stem cell bill passed was a great effort and that she drove everyone crazy pushing for it. She acknowledged that the reps opposed her for it. she said that we can see benefits from stem cells in our lifetime.

I'm typing this as i listen.

She said that Ted was the only one of the kennedy's she really knew.
"Ted and I worked well together and it worked out" She said she'd "miss ted very much"

She said she is "hopeful we get a health bill but she doesn't know enough about it to discuss it but I hope we get something yes"

If you watch/listen to the entire 6 minutes you might come to the conclusion that she was referring to, and assuming Chris was referring to, stem cell reasearch and not HR3200. But I quoted her exact words above.

I stand corrected.

It was a bestseller. How do you figure that happens if "not to many people actually paid attention to it"? It sparked articles in Newsweek and Time.

Two words for you: gingko biloba.

LOL, I guess I was too preoccupied with girls at the time to pay attention to politics.

I'll read up on it.

And, as Pilgrim pointed out, I've searched all over and can't find the interview from the OP. Looks like this thread may be wasted space.

I was boy crazy in high school, but I still managed to multi-task and be informed.

And as I said, I think it was very useful space in that it demonstrated the mindset of leftists so perfectly.

Boy crazy in high school now just crazy.

What is with the conservatives and all of these goofy cats. Be careful you could be associated with PETA.

Or are you a member of the NRA cat hunting wing. I understand Dick Cheney is quite a cat hunter.

Listen again, he asked her if she wanted a health bill passed. Not stem cell, which they discussed earlier. She worked with Teddy to get stem cell passed, in spite of Repbublican opposition.

PJ is correct.

Re read how i posted it. I posted the exact words wherei t says what you do, then added my OPINION of what may be inferred by some after ;).

She was just interviewed live by Chris Matthews on MSNBC.

Maybe her psychic told her to be for it.
Maybe ... they certainly used the psychic to arrange Ronnie's schedules and decisions. No doubt Nancy made lots of decisions during Reagan's second term when he was incapacitated with Alzheimer's.

Just wanted to quote this in light of all the bitching and whining about Ted kennedy's death being treated poorly.

Some asshole was going on about how liberals always show class and the other side doesn't, this wonderful post proves once again my contention that both sides are the same, say the same things and behave the same way.

How can anything be inferred? She said the stem cell thing was a done deal. And she was happy to have been able to work it out with Ted's help.

Then Chris asked her about healthcare reform and she said she wasn't up to speed on that but hoped something would go through.

Really, Reagan didn't have Alzheimer's?

I'm going with the old and confused thing, it seemed he lost her about 30 seconds earlier and I wasn't sure if she was back yet ;).

Its just an opinion, i did concede that I was wrong at the end man, give me a little slack

So Nancy is a Socialist? (By the way, there really wont be too many righty's in here at all...)

Not a socialist but a moderate. I read that she, Laura Bush and Barbara Bush were pro choice at one point as well.

How could they disagree with any portion of the Republican platform. Throw them off the boat.
Either they are lock step or they are no step.

Have you noticed there are alot fewer people on the boat?

They don't disagree anymore. They've had to fall in line over the years, you know, party and politics first.
