Nancy Reagan wants the healthcare bill

Yeah... Nancy's job is to promote her Husband... and while I disagree with her decision, we can rest assured that this photo explains how it is that Nancy Reagan suddenly became an opinion sought by the State run media:

Nancy%20Reagan%20and%20Obama.jpg

Nancy Reagan is with the President signing the stem cell research bill. She like most Americans from all parties supported the research.

Wrong dumbass... It was at the signing of the "Ronald Reagan Centennial" commision... where Nancy noted that the BOY King is 'a Lefty'... all of which followed the would-be President, publicly belittling Mrs. Reagan for her well known belief in the occult, in his infamous 'séance' comment, for which he later called Mrs Reagan to apologize. That the two political opportunists were able to find a way to 'help' one another is not hard to believe and serves reason. With Nancy getting the better of the bargain... no one is going to be swayed on the weight of her opinion and she's already secured her demands.

That Nancy traded her public opinion to support socializing America in exchange for a presidential commision to celebrate President Reagan's 100 Birthday is fine with me. Mrs. Reagan's entitled to her opinion; as is everyone else...

I, for one, wasn't concerned with Mrs. Reagan's opinion and now that she's expressed it on one of the lowest rated cable networks on earth... I'm even less interested.

There's no sound argument for socializing anything... unless the goal is to destroy its means to survive, with all due respect to Mrs. Reagan.

You cut off the best part of my post because you had no answer for it.

Todays conservative leaders will not tolerate any contrary views thus the party is shrinking.

Conservatism is being hijacked by idealogues like you and your are ruining the movement.

Nancy was ridiculed while she was First Lady. Not to the level of Hillary but she was universally disliked. She was considered to be an "Ice Queen" and not a good mother. One thing she was...she was unfailingly loyal to her husband and she defended him with all her strength.

Given her living with a husband with altziemers for so many years, I imagine she gained a unique perspective on the exsisting healthcare in this country. She realized what it means to care for someone who is really ill and what the demands are on a family. She must know the exceptional insurance she and the President have and feel for those who cannot pay for the care her beloved Ronney received

So Nancy is a Socialist? (By the way, there really wont be too many righty's in here at all...)

Not a socialist but a moderate. I read that she, Laura Bush and Barbara Bush were pro choice at one point as well.

WASHINGTON — President-elect Obama called Nancy Reagan on Friday to apologize for joking that she held seances in the White House.

At a news conference in Chicago, Obama said he had spoken with all the living presidents as he prepares to take office in January. Then he smiled and said, "I didn't want to get into a Nancy Reagan thing about doing any seances."

The 87-year-old former first lady had consulted with astrologers during her husband's presidency. But she did not hold conversations with the dead.

Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said the president-elect later called Mrs. Reagan "to apologize for the careless and offhanded remark." She said Obama "expressed his admiration and affection for Mrs. Reagan that so many Americans share, and they had a warm conversation."

as reported by Nick Sabloff

Ahh, I see it. I'd hardly call one off-handed joke "ridiculing Nancy Reagan". LOL.

Well that serves reason... cutting the corners off the rhetorical peices they use to fit into their rationalization puzzles is fairly typical of the Left... Nothing new there.

Of course, what doesn't serve reason is that one would pick up the phone and apologize for a remark, whether on or off hand; if that remark was not reasonably deemed by the phone CALLER that his comment was offensive... or as an opportunity to strike a bargain in hopes of buying some credibility.

I'm a bit confused on how caring for a husband with Alzheimer's when that husband is a former President of the United States and thus entitled to the sort of health care offered to such people is supposed to have given her any perspective at all on healthcare as experienced by the rest of the nation. I see no indication that she "must" know anything at all concerning the differences between their insurance coverage and the rest of us.

How quickly you shove your nose up her ass as soon as she says what you want to hear. I don't recall anyone ever saying that we should carve Nancy Reagan's words in stone simply because we liked her husband, but I DO recall people like you ridiculing her from pillar to post . . . until you thought you could use her as a human shield for your noxious policy proposals. Then she was suddenly the Medical and Science Guru.

Hypocrisy, thy name is "leftist" . . . same as it always has been.

Who the hell ridiculed Nancy Reagan? What would anyone possibly gain by doing that?

I can remember a few jibes at Barbara Bush, and a WHOLE LOT of nasty comments about Hillary Clinton, but I can't even think of one instance of someone "ridiculing" Nancy.

Excuse me? Who ridiculed her? Where the hell were YOU in the 1980s while her husband was President? Under a rock? On Mars?

Of course there were nasty comments about Hillary Clinton. Unlike Nancy and the Republicans, Hillary and the Democrats seemed to think "First Lady" was an elected public official position. She richly deserved it by overstepping her boundaries. Nancy Reagan, on the other hand, never thought she was anything other than Ronald Reagan's wife.

Well, I was in junior high school and high school for the early portion of that decade. Don't remember any Nancy Reagan jokes circulating though. Perhaps you have an example?

Elmer Mudd.

If you did your due diligence and researched just a little you would find out that the picture you claim to be a stem cell reasearch signing was actually a picture of Former First Lady Nancy Reagan and, to the right, Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Ca), Sen. Richard Lugar (R-ind.) and Rep. Elton Gallegly (R-Ca.) all watching President Barack Obama sign into law the Ronald Reagan Centennial Commission Act.

How could they disagree with any portion of the Republican platform. Throw them off the boat.
Either they are lock step or they are no step.

Have you noticed there are alot fewer people on the boat?

You gain an appreciation of the amount of care a severely ill person requires. The amount of burden on a family. She must realize that those without the same level of coverage must meet an incredible burden.
The same with her support for stem cell research. She saw how her husband faded away and how the potential hope of stem cell research was witheld by the republican parties alliance with the religious right

You have GOT to be kidding.

Remember when Ronald Reagan was shot, and Nancy Reagan began using an astrologer to organize his schedule? Remember when she replaced the White House china? Remember the endless shit she took for the cost of her clothes, wearing fur, etc.? Remember feminists ridiculing her for being nothing more than an adoring adjunct to her husband? Remember Kitty Kelley's absolutely vicious "biography" of her?

I was in high school during the 80s too, but apparently I haven't experienced premature onset senility in the interim like some people.

in my internet searches for this you guys know what i keep finding?

This freaking thread

we are #2 on google for "Nancy Reagan on Chris Matthews" and #1 for "Nancy Reagan health care bill"

That tells me something, its not online anywhere...off to C.M.'s homepage on.

I cut out irrelevance... I don't recall that you had a valid point, but if you feel ya did, repost it and I'll consider it. My guess is you're more interested in the pretense than the anything else.

Sweet.

And for the record everyone, I never disliked Nancy Reagan.

I really always kind of liked Ron, except for the whole big deficit to feed the defense beast thing... Oh and Iran Contra kind of sucked.

But other than that he wasn't bad at all.

Yes, and then you compassionately imagine what it's like for the "little people" to deal with it, and get some grandiose compassionate plan to "take care of them". I'm well aware of how elitism works, thank you so very much.

Bullshit on the stem cell research. The woman was obsessively, passionately devoted to her husband, and would have sacrificed kittens on national television if she'd have thought it would help him. Didn't make her opinion carry any more weight than a puff of warm hydrogen then, doesn't now. I sympathize with her loss, and I admire her love and devotion to her husband, but I don't give a damn what she thinks, and never did.

No, I really don't remember any of that stuff to tell the truth. I do remember some nonsense about Kitty Kelley's book, but I don't remember too many people actually paying attention to it...

Cecile, you do not get it. People of broad intellignce and empathy can observe and understand other people's plight without experiencing it.

The problem are people who only understand their own experience.

Are you that way?
