But then again, the US were fighting to free themselves from a tyranny that had a smaller government than just about any country that currently exists. It's just that things have changed. Especially the number of people. in 1776 Russia had 20 million people, in 1790 the US had a population of 3.9 million people. How much govt did they actually need?

They made a constitution that was designed to change with the times.

You want smaller govt, but the support a party, the GOP, that wants more control over people's lives, not less. In fact "smaller govt" seems not to mean smaller govt, but "lower taxes" which is something completely different.


But then the same people who argue for less taxes are the same people who support the healthcare and it's 3% GDP wastage on corruption and don't want to sort it out..... hmmm. Giving money to rich people = good, spending money on stuff people need = bad.... I don't get it.

ISIS is stupid? Well they've managed to get people from all over the world to their cause, that's not stupidity. They work based on stupidity, but then so does the US govt. How many times do you see nationalism being used as a reason to support some war or other, with not much in the way of intelligent debate about what the after effects?

I could list loads. Giving weapons to Saddam to fight the Iranians, then having these weapons come back against US forces.
Giving weapons to the Mujaheddin and seeing these weapons come back against US forces in Afghanistan.

Two perfect examples. Another example would have been the US giving weapons to the anti-Assad Syrians, with McCain at the forefront of this, just as he was in Libya (but unsurprisingly not for this in Ivory Coast with it's lack of oil).

They want to go back to the 13th century? Hardly surprising seeing what the 18th, 19th, 20th and 21th centuries have inflicted on them in the name of imperialism and now whatever you want to call the invasion of any oil rich country which doesn't support US policy.
