Most don't chose to be "Poor" what an absurd ignorance.

Being a capitalist has nothing to do with globalism unless you direct your efforts in that direction.
The Wife and I made all our monies in the confines of the U.S.

Being critical of capitalist excess doesn't mean we're advocating communism either. Big tech, media corporations are ruining this country and should be held to account for it.

I'm a capitalist through and through.
What needs to be addressed is the trade deficit which Trump is doing.
We need to make it profitable for companies to bring back manufacturing jobs.
I'm not saying there is no such thing as detrimental capitalism by any means, there are people out there that dont give a shit about the US as long as they're making money.

A lot of those manufacturing jobs arent ever coming back. Automation will do a much more efficient job than any human worker ever could and won't need to be paid. Soon, driverless trucks and AI will kill off a whole bunch of other jobs too. Even McDonalds will replace their human workers with robots. What then?

People better educate themselves like I did in 1985....and again in 2000 when CNC's became so prevalent......in other words?
Learn to Code.

They did. Then they were replaced by AI and HB1 visa holders.

As I've said.
You can be a capitalist and still support America. The shit disney world pulled is the best example of importing workers.
Why,because they brought in the the lowest type of workers which really hurts the low income Americans.

If you taxed the top 0.1% a very high amount, the deficit would be gone in no time.

But, of course that would never make sense. (Rolls eyes)
as he types from his lenovo cronyism do gooder socialism

MOre of that thats what yas need .....errrr no
it doesnt make sense cause they'd be broke and youd still have a deficit
wahhh other people have more money then me ...YEp even some back roads country farmers can buy and sell yas .....but hed never let ya know it

where the fuck was everybody when i was 20 and 21 and could barley keep the lights on ?

as for "globalist " (please)like myself s they say in bix nood land dont hate the player. irrelevant anyway . Personally i only took the opportunities that presented themselves to me .remember that the next time they lie to ya and the other half of your manufacturing base disappears or is swamped with illegals .

innovation, streamlining ,automation is nothing new! robotics will never fully replace the need for two hands and a human brain ...not anytime soon anyway
i made things in the USa where i could from fall river to Greensboro, to Poughkeepsie to Pennsylvania , to California

ONE of my side gig was getting my hands on garbage from American producers and supplying USA exporters ...MY goodness
many times a couple dozen tractor tailor loads of shit on one buy

i could tell you guys hoorah stories of nafta loopholes, exploits ,and shit they pretty much LET us used to get away with

YA even had super duper big shits parking mountains of aluminum across the border while obama looked the other way and played patty cake

im not against trade im totally for FOR fair free global trade ...and even starting trade wars over it ...which ive already stated here before

global trade is going on for 500 years now grow up
vote idiots that'll do right by the people and the nation ...with sound trade policy
and the promotion of free markets.

and globalist is not some retard in hackensack with small plant or a warehouse or doing whatever else with other OUTSIDE the USA
or a mill still hanging on for the last 140 years while you guys buy whats on sale at friggin walmart ? a place i never shopped at till 2008

AND way to go patriots ya saved 20 dollars on a toaster oven.
are ya traitors now ? of course not
seriously where yas when i could barley keep my lights on ?
where were ya when bill gates was derping in his garage ?...forget what hes worth today! OR what his foundation does ! where where ya when he begged his family for cash ?

is some of the game rigged ?
oh yes more and more these days ...golly gee i wonder why

people also make shitty choices
THe op is a European
never really pay attention to euros especially left ones

and if yer feeling broke most of you are already 1 %welcome to the 1%

Ranking by Income
According to the Global Rich List, a website that brings awareness to worldwide income disparities, an income of $32,400 a year will allow you to make the cut. $32,400 amounts to roughly:

  • 28,614 euros
  • 2.307 million Indian rupees
  • 218,532 Chinese yuan

So if you’re an accountant, a registered nurse or even an elementary school teacher, congratulations. The average wage for any of these careers falls well within the top 1 percent worldwide.

Not surprisingly, it takes a much higher income to crack the top 1 percent of wage earners in just the United States. You’d have to make $421,926 to make the cut, according to a 2018 report by the Economic Policy Institute.

net worth, which includes everything from the equity in your home to the value of your investments. That’s equal to roughly:

  • 680,083 euros
  • 54.84 million Indian rupees
  • 5.19 million Chinese yuan

Like it or not, life is somewhat Darwinian.

Imagine for a moment that peoples' capacity for earning money and accumulating wealth is spread along a Bell Curve, like IQ. (You don't need much imagination; it's true). The ability to earn money and accumulate wealth is associated with intelligence, diligence, talent, industriousness...and the lack of same.

When someone chooses to do no homework/studying while in school, decline to work available part-time jobs during school, drop out of high school, have children out of wedlock, engage in anti-social or criminal behavior, spend money that you don't have, etc., etc., those choices tend to result in your being poor. Can't blame ANY of that on forces outside your own control. Those are CHOICES.

Lotsa people have factors outside their control that tend to make them poor but a lot of it is bad choices and failure to do what is necessary to succeed.

Unless you're learning disabled or physically disabled there's no excuse for being poor....unless of course you're lazy.

Not even that in America, besides the word poor has to be defined.

I'm not saying we should replace capitalism. I'm saying that as a conservative who is mostly concerned with social issues, I would feel like a complete and utter idiot going to bat for big corporations like Amazon, Facebook, Disney, Kraft foods, Procter & Gamble and a slew of others that hurt society and don't give a damn about nations.

Remember when Trump promised to "bring in lots of people" while in a room with big tech CEOs? What the fuck, Mr Trump?

Plus some people are more richer then others in Love, that's the only thing that matters.

First of all, IQ, and ambitions are probably 75% genetic.
Many studies indicate a .8 correlation.

Second off, college is expensive, so expensive that it's difficult for someone working at WalMart temporarily to even get the money to save up for college.
Ever wondered why college is so expensive? Research the role of government in student loan programs.

It's not the same America, Crapitalism sold America out, to a bunch of foreigners, once again blame Capitalism.

Capitalism never changed...government intervention sold Americans out. Government intervention socialized corporate failure. Government intervention created interlocking trade agreements which make it beneficial for businesses to outsource and receive tax breaks. Capitalism has remained the same.

Government intervention sold out America?

How many jobs are being outsourced, or immigrants insourced in Government jobs?
Now compare to how many jobs are outsourced, or immigrants insource for Capitalist company jobs?\

Yeah, that's what I thought!

The government is supposed to limit immigration, that's always been American, however.

First it was Black slaves, and British indentured servants. Then Irish and Germans, then Italians, Polish, and Jews, then Puerto Ricans, Domnicans, and Jamaicans. and Cubans, then Mexicans, Salvadorians, Indians, Chinese, Guatemalans, Ecuadorians etc.
Either you are intentionally obtuse or just too dim to grasp the concepts. The policies which made all of those things possible are not capitalism...they are statism and corporatism.
Corporations exist because they were created by government. The modern economic system is a merger of state and corporate powers...thus hybrid. What we have now is NOT free market capitalism.

Hey! Polish boy! You back? Don't get banned! (Derp! Look who's talking)

Welcome back! Let's see one, just one of your paintings.

Maybe you're finally done with snow this year.

Even if we had a perfect system, people still wouldn't be able to make it out of poverty, without help. This is true for veterans too.

I'm definitely not going to spend a heck of a lot of time here, it's not healthy.

Anyone who thinks poverty is a choice, must be pretty ignorant to say the very least.

Ignorant of genetics, like how people suffer from diseases like MS, Parkinsons, Down Syndrome,Alzheimers, Cystis Fibrosis, Sickle Cell, or from being maimed, or simple back, knee, or neck injuries. That doesn't even speak of Bi Polar, Schizophrenia, severe depression.

Then there's the fact, they don't understand the nature of Capitalism, in the first place. Capitalism creates winners, and losers. Capitalism leads to so many "Elite" and so many "Servants" of the elite, it will always have minimum wage jobs, no matter how smart, or educated they are.
What country doesn’t have minimum wage jobs? When I go to Germany and those women working at those little restaurants. How much do they get paid to serve us?

Every country has ditch diggers.

Honestly if I wasn’t a good salesman I would probably be doing a $40,000 a year job. Maybe even $30,000. That’s what you will make in America if you don’t have a skill. And it’s hard to have a family on that. And those jobs sometimes don’t even offer healthcare

I made the change to machine shops after that and never looked back.

Poverty is a choice one makes indirectly that is a direct result of choices they directly make.

One doesn't choose poverty, but they choose drugs.
One doesn't choose poverty, but they choose a life of crime.
One doesn't choose poverty, but they become teen moms.
One doesn't choose poverty, but they never attempt to move up. They just go to work and go home.
One doesn't choose poverty, but they drop out of high school.
One doesn't choose poverty, but they make poor life choices their entire lives.

So no, I doubt many people wake up and say "I want to be poor today" but they do make bad choices over and over again and poverty is the consequence of poor choices.
Jesus was poor from poor choices.

He never snuck into Rome
he couldn't afford the ride.

I dont think anyone disagrees with helping people with legit problems.
I was poor as a Church Mouse at one time in my life and worked my ass off to correct the problem, yet I was smart enough to know better than to start a fuken family at the time.
There are a lot of people out there who are poor because they made bad decisions.

Why does it make sense to have Bezos have so much money he doesn't know what to do with?
As Bezos cuts out a ton of ma & pa local businesses, and even corporations to sustain his empire of absurdity.

As opposed to having Bezos pay for the wall on Mexico, himself, and pay for a bunch of poor people as well in need.

It just doesn't make sense, I don't get it, and I don't want to get it.

Bezos is a Capitalist embarrassment.

This kinda goes back to you could confiscate every dollar the rich possess and it wouldnt amount to a hill of beans.

The super rich should be paying for the wall, they should be paying for military, schools, and benefits too.

Why shouldn't they?
They get so rich, they can't even spend that money in a 1,000 life-times, WTF?

I can think of a ton of better uses for that money, rather than hoarding it at societies expense.

The rich do not “hoard” their money. Uber-wealthy people do not bury their fortunes in their back yard or keep them in a storage facility. They either spend their money, save it (in a financial institution) or invest it. Either way, their money helps others “less fortunate” than themselves. When they spend it, they create employment opportunities, when they save it others have access to various types of loans to purchase things or start a business and when they invest it the entire economy benefits. By the way, when the wealthy spend their money they actually create higher paying jobs than those poor folks do when they spend their own money. A matière de in a five star restaurant makes a lot more than a matière de at McDonalds …. oh, wait.

Even if the left wont call it trickle down? It is.....

That makes good money, and I could get into. My cousin did that.

This awesome old man in my neighborhood had a complete machine shop in his shed. He used to pay me to sweep up the metal shavings. He helped me bore and balance my KZ 650. Also he show to check..oh damn, what's that called when you gotta shim the top of an OHV engine? With a feeler gauge.

From what I've seen it seems about 1/3rd of the poor are poor because of disabilities, physical, or mental. this includes many Veterans , Another 1/3rd are either are ex convicts tarnishing their records, or literally aren't intelligent enough to make it. The final 1/3rd are mostly single mothers, younger generations attempting to move up in it's ranks, and people working menial jobs with little pay.

I don't know how anyone couldn't get that in a Capitalist system of nature, how there wouldn't be poor exactly?

Just as well, such a unnatural system of Communism also leads to poor.

Literally, the hybrid system is the only real fair solution.
Life is not fair. What we HAVE is a hybrid system. We do not have a free market. True free markets are not regulated.
Most people are poor because they are either too stupid or too lazy to achieve.

Even if 100% of the population had PhD degrees, you'd still have the same amount of poverty, because that is what Capitalism does it creates winners, and losers. Because then people with PhD degrees would be flipping burgers, mowing lawns, scrubbing toilets, etc. because that is what the economy demands.

Anyone who thinks everybody can just become successful, is ridiculous.

First of all, IQ, and ambitions are probably 75% genetic.

Second off, college is expensive, so expensive that it's difficult for someone working at WalMart temporarily to even get the money to save up for college.

Unfortunately, a lot of my generation is working menial jobs just to pay back student debt.

It's not the same America, Crapitalism sold America out, to a bunch of foreigners, once again blame Capitalism. They the Capitalists are never satisfied, and such unpatriotic twits, they'll always import more foreigners from Mexico, and export more jobs to China. Just to save money.

That is true. There are winners and losers in capitalism. But in communism, almost everyone's a loser, except the ruling government elite, who live well off the taxpayers' backs.

Capitalism is a system that has created so much wealth that 99.99% of the population today live better than the richest 0.1% of the population 200 years ago. For most of history, that wasn't the case.

Envy is such a waste of energy.

Mark 8:36

What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?

Why should we blame the poor, instead of blaming a system that allows for people to get stuck in minimum wage jobs, and at the same time allows people to get so rich they can't even spend that money.
I grew up in poverty.
Now I’m a muti millionaire.

Only happened because I live in America and I didn’t sit on my thumbs whining about rich people.

Admitting one is an Individualist is a nice way of saying they're very selfish, and rather dumb.

If you aren't empathetic, or intelligent enough to grasp the society around you, then the sad truth is just that.
Want to go to Southeast Asia on my return trip and live in rice paddies picking leaches off as you try to help the poor?

Well, South-East Asia seems to be the next China, I.E the next place to get American jobs.

We're f*cked as a species, pollution is obviously getting bad, many ethnics are being replaced before our eyes, as the upper crust have less kids, and the Third-World rises as the "Norm"

I don't like the Third-World condition, I wish we could change it, but unfortunately it seems to be a lot of their "Biological inclinations"
Nope, not near China. Rice paddies of Vietnam and Cambodia. Nothing but swamp for as far as the eye can see all around you. You can get a job there, planting rice. Good for the body bending over 14 hours a day standing in snake and leach invested muddy swamp up to your knees. Good for the soul too.

With the $196 in your savings account you’d be filthy rich there. You can be the 1% finally. The envy of everyone and everyone can bitch about you like you do here.

When you chose to do a crime, you are are choosing to be poorer. When you chose to have a baby as a single parent, you are choosing to be poorer. So by your standard at least 2/3'rds of your people choose to be poor despite your thread title that most don't chose to be poor.
Yet, generation after generation in Appalachia live in poverty.
