They don't, other than for the purpose of grooming. When a tree sapling is young and small, then it's limbs can be trained to bend and grow in ways that it's arborists chooses for it to grow, but once a mighty oak is formed, then it's over, for it shall not be manipulated at that point any longer. When a tree is trimmed as a young growing tree, then the results are then produced to show the shape of the tree as it becomes an adult. Once the Tree is a mighty tree, then the shaping is done, and it becomes a marvel for the eye's to behold. Now if a tree is shaped and trimmed wrongfully, then it becomes a weakened tree ripe for disease and weakness. These are fact's in nature that are undisputed, and they also parallel everything else in God's creation.

The government banning books for consumption to the general public is wrong. But shouldn't schools ensure that the books they make available to kids and use in their curriculum are age appropriate?

Not having read the book its impossible to know if I would find it objectionable or not

but parents have the right and a duty to decide what is being taught to their children

Sex education should be administered age appropriately. The really young children only need to learn "stranger danger" and not allowing people to touch them inapproriately. Somewhat older children need to learn the basics of the biological differences between males and females and how babies are conceived. Nineth grade on up, sexually transmitted diseases and sexual preferences (heterosexual, homosexual, lesbian). If students come forward to ask anything not in a standard curriculum, they are to be referred to their familes....period. NO MINOR is to be told that they can be whatever sex they prefer. The reason has nothing to do with the parents, but science. The human brain's pre-frontal cortex controls executive functions (i.e., decision making, moral judgement and self control). In women, the pre-frontal cortex matures around the age of 18, whereas the pre-frontal cortex matures in males by the age of 25. Because of this, important life-altering decisions shouldn't be made while a minor, and teachers should stay out of it.
In turn, responsible adults should know to restrict certain materials from minors, especially graphic materials and controversial materials. When they are no longer minors, they will have the pre-frontal cortex decision making ability to decide for themselves as to what they want.

Ok, and who is instrumental in building the pre-frontal cortex in the child's growing year's, otherwise that you are talking a lot about ??? I agree not teachers in a school classroom, but the parent's I would agree with them shaping that issue for the schools and their kids since the schools are supposed to be working for them.

However if the child coming of age doesn't have the right thinking parent's to teach them or rather they have these bad parent's teaching them, then how do you unravel that mess before or after the damage is done ?

Ok back inside the classroom... I agree that sex talk should be agreed upon (as to what type or form that it takes shape as, and then how it is to be distributed at certain age appropriate levels), by the parent's input and consensus on the matter. I still trust parent's in a majority to know what's appropriate for their kids to learn, and what's not... Thank you parent's.

So in summary it should be agreed upon by a parental consensus, otherwise by the parent's injecting their thoughts heavily at these parent / school council meetings / PTA meetings without being put on the FBI terrorist watch list.
