McConnell Vows To Fill Scotus Vacancy, Democrats Whine

What ever happened to all that posturing about letting the people decide?

that only happens when the wrong party holds the White House.
Doesn’t really matter

Republicans have made filling a SCOTUS vacancy a purely political process.

Sitting Presidents will no longer be allowed to fill vacancies if the Senate is ruled by the other party

McConnell needs to get off his ass and get the current 67 nominees confirmed and seated. There are still 137 unfilled seats. If he and Trump were smart -- they aren't -- then they'd spend a great deal of their time doing just that. Filling ALL 137 vacancies.

Filling every vacancy is an imperative, especially since the dems are obstructing every nominee every chance they get. Every one takes as long as possible. So Mitch needs to push for every one ASAP.

He has a simple majority rule to get them seated. Right now, he has 53 Republicans in the Senate. That means if he were to assign the vetting of one nominee to each Senator and the rather large research staff they each have, they could do 159 in three months. Inside of 4, they could fill each position and even if he held them to a standard of a 75% conservative voting record, it is likely he could finish this business before the end of the year.

The SCOTUS nominees will take care of themselves when they come due. Right now, the entire makeup of the federal bench could be set for a generation if they got busy right now and took care of business.

Man, it sure does suck when people finally get a taste of their own medicine.

Payback is such a bitch.

.

Did the Dems ever refuse to vote on a SCOTUS nomination when they held the Senate?
who cares. It's done and it was rightly done. The march leftward of this country needs to be halted.

The home state democrat senators can hold up the nominee that they recommended...red state nominees are easy, blue state ones are hard....
A Left-Wing Group Demands that Democrats Oppose Trump’s Judicial Nominees
"It even means voting to filibuster, and then voting against confirming, a minimum of 60 percent of Trump’s nominees to the U.S. District Court. Since district-court nominees cannot be confirmed without the support of their home-state senators, this again requires Democrats to oppose some of the very nominees that they recommended in the first place."

Senator McConnell listened to the complaints from the Democrats in regards to Merrick Garland and decided they may have had merit. A 2020 nominee deserves an up or down vote

That sure would make for some interesting political ads, wouldn't it? Your Senator recommended Judge X but then opposes him because.....Trump.

Please.

I won't apologize for thwarting the leftward march of this country.

You act as if you'd care if the Democrats did this to the Republicans. You'd be saying, Too fucking bad assholes.

Guess what......too fucking bad asshole.
