Mayor of London warns George W. Bush about visiting UK

I do not much care for George Bush, but I do not think it wise to threaten people. I mean, if you truly wanted to seize Bush, wouldn't it be wiser to just wait? I also doubt that warning him will stop him, so the best reason I can think for someone to do that is for public notice. Although, doesn't seem a good way to go about it.

Bush showed almost no curiosity before he became president and I doubt he'll do so now.

I think it highly unlikely that any official in the UK would arrest Bush II for war crimes.

The last thing the UK wants is to alienate the senior partner of the Anglo-American Alliance.

This is the actual article that the OP's hysterical bullshit comes from.

George W. Bush can’t fight for freedom and authorise torture - Telegraph

Perhaps some "intelligent" poster on the left can point out where Boris said what the OP's article claims.

Political Junky - Do less drugs.

And, for the record, Boris is a laughing stock in Britain. No one takes the guy seriously, he's well known for making really, really stupid statements. He's an intellectual lightweight.

Yes, it's an awful time of year. Too many tourists buzzing around before Christmas. Innkeepers jack up their prices something fierce. It gets dark at 4pm. Plus it rains all the time.

Instead, George should come in April. Not too many tourists and the weather is starting to get nice. January is a good time because, though the weather still sucks, W could get some real bargains. Hotel rates plunge and there are good sales in the shops.

According to the right wing, those in England must be "daft".

Then there is the possibility that the English actually take the law and signed international treaties banning torture more seriously than we do.

Wait a second, that would mean it's our right wing who's "daft".

Poor Obama, wanted to so bad to heal the nation and the rift between the right and the sane. All the right wants to do is, at the most, "string him up", and at the least, hand him "Waterloo". Yet, because of their hate and vitriol, it's the country they are flushing down the "loo".

No, just Boris Johnson. I suggest you google Boris and find out how well known he is for making totally mindless statements. You are funny, rdean... the Brits will do whatever is necessary to protect their country from terrorist attack. Just like us.

Maybe he should time it to coincide with the Royal Wedding. That would be a nice time to be here.

Here's the guy who said it.... at his gloriously baffoon-like self.

Torture doesn't work. For one thing, once someone is taken, the enemies plans change. Think about why.
Torture and what the US has done at Abu Graib and Gitmo have become "recruiting" tools for terrorists.

After what Republicans have done to the economy. After their incompetence after Katrina. After they pretty much let Bin Laden go. After the mess and scandal of Iraq, why would anyone think Republicans have the answer to anything? Seriously. Everything they have touched has been a disaster. Everything.

Republicans only get by because they point the finger at everyone else. But drag their policies out from under that damp log into the light of day, and what you find is disgusting.

Try and focus on the issue at hand... that of Boris Johnson's remark. Don't bring strawmen to a bonfire party. You'll get your fingers burned.

Boris is a well known baffoon in the UK. The man can't read his laundry list without making some dumbass remark. I suspect the majority of Brits know that. No one takes him seriously. It is funny shit that Americans do... as long as he says something you agree with.

Mayor of London Warns George W Bush-War Criminal: Bring Book Tour to Britain and Never See TX Again | Citizens for Legitimate Government

Mayor of London Warns George W Bush-War Criminal: Bring Book Tour to Britain and Never See Texas Again --George W. Bush can’t fight for freedom and authorise torture By Boris Johnson 15 Nov 2010 It is not yet clear whether George W Bush is planning to cross the Atlantic to flog us his memoirs, but if I were his PR people I would urge caution. As book tours go, this one would be an absolute corker. It is not just that every European capital would be brought to a standstill, as book-signings turned into anti-war riots. The real trouble -- from the Bush point of view -- is that he might never see Texas again. One moment he might be holding forth to a great perspiring tent at Hay-on-Wye. The next moment, click, some embarrassed member of the Welsh constabulary could walk on stage, place some handcuffs on the former leader of the Free World, and take him away to be charged. Of course, we are told this scenario is unlikely... But that is what torture-authorising Augusto Pinochet thought. And unlike Pinochet, Mr Bush is making no bones about what he has done.

Read the article itself, instead of some idiot's blog. Where does he state about bringing the book tour to Britain? Boris simply posits a scenario that could happen in Europe. Changing the headline, as has been done, puts an entirely distorted meaning on the article. Talk about gullible!

I already tried posting this factually accurate article, Colin. I don't think it suits the agenda of the OP.

Yes, I didn't see until I got further through the thread. Well, maybe it doesn't suit his agenda. Personally, I think he's one of those gullible individuals not worldly wise enough to spot a cuckoo in the nest!

"Convervative" in the UK merely means a less-of-the-same socialist.

You're kidding.

Man..try going to an English pub in the English countryside..and saying that.

Should be fun.:eusa_whistle:

Nah. We'd just laugh at him. After all, what would he know about a subject he can't even spell properly.

In general, the populations of both countries think they know more about the other than they really do.

The Brits will never understand our Constitution and we will never understand your love of the Nanny State. Both criticize the other, without actually understanding what it is they are criticizing.
