Many Republicans Want an Unconstrained President

I don't really see the reason to cannonize Trump as "speaker of truth", esp when his graft is on a whole other scale that any potus since WWII. But isn't it obvious that Trump at least says he'll deliver the pork for voters who feel stiffed by both the dems and Bushes/Romney.
What does that have to do with his/her assertion that Lincoln was a fascist?

Tomorrow doesn't look good either.
Stop being willfully ignorant.

The link below explains Republicans’ advocacy of the unitary executive – an all-powerful, unchecked, unconstrained president – and why Republicans are wrong:

“This defense, however, reveals the two fundamental flaws of the Unitary view: first, that it is built on a fictional reading of constitutional design; and second, that its precepts attack the fundamental tenets of the checks and balances system that the Founders did create.”

^^
Unfathomable irony.
To wit:
The link below explains Republicans’ advocacy of the unitary executive
The unitary executive is specified by the constitution.
To advocate -against - the unitary executive is to advocate -against- the Constitution.
Why do you hate the constitutoon?

Why do you think the President should be "overly restrained" in exercising his powers under Article II of the US Constitution, and why won't you apply those restraints to Democrats?

Who called Trump a speaker of truth?

He's an unsavory populist who tells all manner of whoppers.

It's only okay when Obama does it...

Nearly half of Republicans polled want a quasi-elected dictator or monarch, according to a recent poll. They feel a president should be able to operate with little interference from the courts or Congress, or in other words, the very checks and balances that keep us from being a dictatorship. 47% of Republicans who agreed with the minimal checks and balances statement are also supporting Trump for president. They would feel very differently, of course, were it Obama or Biden.

This is who MAGA is.

Because Obama and Biden want to institute catastrophic, transformational change.
Catch on?

Certainly when you look at the picture of the country promoted by the fear mongers. They want to keep everyone so scared and angry that they will accept authoritarian government. Will we fall for it?

Nope
5th party.
Our only salvation.

My post was to point out the poster is at best, an idiot.
Projection.

I never called Trump a speaker of truth.
Neither Trump nor Lincoln were remotely fascists.
Trump plays footsie with fascist ideology, while Lincoln was an actual fascist and mass murdering psychopath.
And Lincoln was defending against a rebellion
False; learn your history.
which itself was, as it turned out, without any legal basis. (-:
Holy crap.

The idiot thing WAS projection.

You're yet another USMB ignoramus... :(

Bullshit.

Lincoln had a reporter killed because he didn't like what was printed.
Numerous journalists threatened, arrested and silenced by Lincoln.

He also had the Maryland legislature surrounded by troops while they were considering secession.

He was a monstrous psychopath; VASTLY worse than Trump.

If you're going to sit here and insist Abe Lincoln was a fascist I'm afraid you've just demoted yourself to the status of whack-job.

Have a nice day.
See? ^^^

Sheeple. All of them.

Ignorant sheeple, at that.

Abraham Lincoln was the MOST authoritarian president we've ever had.

If you weren't a stupid ignorant leftard you'd know that.
