Mandalay Bay owners sue VICTIMS of Las Vegas mass shooting

Thanks to lawyers, in the future we'll all be going through metal detectors, and having our luggage searched just to check-in to a hotel.

That's very true.

That's what you need to do when you let any crazy person who wants to own a gun own one.

So for the 78% of who don't need to compensate for a tiny pecker with a gun, we have to put up with metal detectors and searches and security doors because of the 22% of you need to "Compensate", because some of you just go nuts and start killing people.

Now, we could pass real background checks and license guns to only people who are responsible... naw, 200 years ago a bunch of slave rapists couldn't write a militia amendment clearly, so we need to all put up with this kind of nonsense.

try to sue them. it seems we're a legal happy country anymore anyway and this is our only recourse. hell if we lose we simply restate our case and keep at it til we foot stomp and get our way.

assault weapons and bump stocks are not illegal. hell the definition of "assault rifle" is just stupidity in motion as well. it's whatever the left needs it to be today.

so you're upset that we can sue one person for behaving legally but not another person for behaving legally.

whatever dude.

You miss the point. They DID sue the gun manufactuers/sellers after the DC Sniper case. And they found that the gun industry allowed the DC Snipers to have guns they weren't allowed to have. (One was a felon, the other a minor) and fined them millions of dollars.

And the gun industry ran right off to Congress to get a law passed exempting them from civil lawsuits.

And yes, we will keep restating the case every time there is another one of these tragedies... maybe we should put a clock up for how many days between mass shootings....

Who owns Mandalay Bay?

MGM International. They've gone to a federal court because they know the local District Court would throw it out. The feds will turn it down too. It's an effort to keep from being held libel for the shooting.

The word is "liable" and they are not. They just don't need to waste money defending themselves in court against frivolous claims.

He wasn't sold a machine gun.

Oh, noes, you get all upset when people call a machine gun a machine gun..

He killed 58 people with an assault rifle and a bump stock that fired like a machine gun.

someone designed a bump stock for that purpose.

And they can't be sued, but the hotel can.

That's fucking insane.

The hotel is being sued, but it shouldn't be. there is no expectation that a hotel is to search everyone coming into their hotel.

In your opinion, which is worse - the ruling that the gun industry "allowed" prohibited individuals access to their product or that now because of that ruling, the gun industry can not be found liable for the criminal misuse of their product and subsequently cannot be sued?

No, they've removed the case to federal court because that's the proper venue for their action.

They're seeking enforcement of a federal law, therefore federal court.

I think the gun manufacturer should be sued, but I'm all for suing the hotel. I hope they sue the shit out of the hotel and they lose a shitload of money, because, honestly, fuck big corporations. Then the other big corporations will take notice and say, 'Hey, maybe we need sensible gun control in this country!"

Not going to change things until it starts costing rich people money or their little bastards are the ones getting caught in the crossfire.

Oh, the fact that they passed this law is worse. The conduct of the gun industry really is the problem. They want crazy people and crooks to have easy access to guns, so that non-crazy people will be all scared and want them to. ANd make sure you never, ever talk about studies that show guns are more dangerous to the people who own them than the bad guys.

You see, we could have gun laws like Germany does. You can own a gun, but only after you've undergone a thorough background check and licensing. And if you start stockpiling guns like you think the Zombies are coming, they will look at you funny.

The thing is, much like the alcohol industry markets to the drunks, the gun industry markets towards the gun nuts. Their market isn't the guy who bought a pistol in 1990 and maybe takes it to the range once a year.

It's the gun nut who owns 20 guns because he thinks the Gummit is coming to get him.

It's all about fucking over people you don't like. What a sad miserable little man you are.

Mandalay Bay owners sue victims of Las Vegas mass shooting

"The corporate owners of the Mandalay Bay casino filed suit against the victims of last year’s Las Vegas concert mass shooting, claiming it has no liability for the massacre"

Evidently Mandalay Bay believes it had / has no responsibility to prevent terrorists from checking into their hotel with semi-automatic rifles and thousands of rounds of ammo and using their room as a sniper roost from which to gun down anything moving below.

Yeah, suing the victims is really going to help their Reputation and bring in the business....

The shooter was a good guy with guns.....until he wasn't.

Doesn't the "gun industry" also provide weapons to our law enforcement agencies and military?

Says the guy who supports Trump kicking down on brown people.

Hey, guy, it's always better to punch up than kick down. Punching up changes things. Kicking down just makes you feel better about your own inadequacies.

When Big Corporations start paying out big money for gun violence, they will advocate the change the majority of us want. So I am all for taking this hotel to the cleaners.

Yes, it does. And this is another area where the government could put pressure on them.

Set forth a code of conduct for gun manufacturers. You want those sweet, sweet government contracts for thousands of units? Then you'd better get on board for reforms to stop marketing to the crazies.
