MAGA: Dick's CEO says company destroyed $5M worth of assault rifles. Wanting to make streets safer!

Gratuitously destroying five million dollars worth of valuable company property is an act of malfeasance. This mute donkey ought to be fired, and possibly criminally charged.
I'd like to see the physical proof of this . As it is they'll probably get a write off under some extended Obama edict when they ,in effect , never had the inventory . I hope we have someone not related to Lois Lerner auditing their books at the IRS .

Destroying these guns. Makes sure 100% NRA crazy Gun Nutter's terrorists don't sell them to NRA Sponsored mass shooter members. It safer legally and cost-wise to destroy them under there control.

1. Show me a one NRA member who was a mass shooter.

2. The gun mfgs made money off those guns destroyed, and anyone who wanted to purchase one did so at another retailer. They didn't lower the number of "assault rifles" on the streets by a single gun.

The NRA makes sure mental peoples can get guns. ALL NRA members by default are more mentally damaged than those simple lower mental peoples
All NRA members and Gun Nutters are responsible for all mass school shootings and any shooting with assault rifles in America.
Just gave you these sick in the head millions, the co-conspirators.

The people most responsible for mass shootings at schools are NOT members of the NRA. Take that from a man who is NOT an NRA supporter.

You seem to have a name for people who own firearms, so I'm wondering what kind of name you give yourself. Virtually every mass shooting done at a school was done by parents, school officials, mental health officials / doctors and Big Pharma. The NRA didn't have a damn thing to do with it... any more than you did, but I'll give you the opportunity to fix your shortcomings. Let us start with this:

"Sensible gun control" - An absolutely meaningless phrase that dared not be uttered by sensible people. Today we have 40,000 plus federal, state, county, and city ordinances, laws, statutes, rules, regulations, case laws, Executive Orders, edicts, etc. governing firearms. If by now the liberals have failed to pass a "sensible gun regulation," then maybe you should start reconsidering your position.

Personally, I have a God given, inherent, natural, unalienable, absolute and irrevocable Right to keep and bear Arms. Any law intended to impede that Right is destined to fail. That has been proven by history. Otherwise, in 40,000 plus different laws, it would be enough to pacify gun banners who, at the end of the day, would settle for nothing less than only the police and military owning guns. Enough of the "sensible gun laws" B.S.

The REAL reason that children are dying in the schools due to mass shooters is clearly the fault of parents, school officials, the government, doctors (especially those in mental health) and Big Pharma. At an early age our society begins to drug kids. It begins with Ritalin and Adderall for a nonexistent condition; however, if you answer six questions and give the doctor the right answers, you can get your kid on drugs. From Ritalin to Adderall, the child then gets a bit older and it is legal opioids then illegal opioids, heroin, pot, and legally prescribed SSRIs.

Then there is no oversight and no supervision of these young people. By the time they are in their late teens, they have tattoos, body piercings, a drug habit and a criminal record - all of this brought on by a society that thinks that pills and police reports are parenting skills. If you look at the Parkland shooter, Columbine, Sandy Hook, or any other in that category, the M.O. of the shooter is the same every time. Yet the liberals refuse to address this. So don't come here, pee down my neck and tell me it's raining. In America, we consume over 80 percent of the world's supply of opioids; we have more people in prison than any nation on this planet - most are in prison on drug related charges; for every drug addict in a mental health facility we have more than 10 in prisons. SSRIs, when mixed with certain other markers, are associated with every one of those mass shootings that I described plus most others (unless they are political jihadists) AND the small time gang bangers and drug runners (that, once again society created) constitute the bulk of the remainder. Don't ever lie to us and use the kids to push an anti-gun agenda. Gun banners do not care about the kids. You sure as Hell haven't proven you do.

I've lobbied for laws that would have reduced mass shootings by 90 percent. The solution won't fit onto a bumper sticker and does NOT involve gun control, but the FIRST STAGE of that solution begins with admitting what our society is doing to the youth. Drugs should become the LAST option, not the first - and most of the time only option we're willing to use to help children. There are much better options, but nobody cares about the children enough to admit the main problem in our culture and declare that enough is enough.

So, just to be clear .. they destroyed five million dollars worth of a product for which the manufacturer has already been paid. So, that another retailer will have to purchase from the manufacturer to make up the short fall in supply?

So, instead of just making $5 Million ... the manufacturer will make $10 Million for the same number of retail purchases.

Please try to destroy the gun manufacturers this way.

How stupid. Dicks had to pay for those rifles from the manufacturer. So they spent the money and then destroyed the merchandise. No wonder they're tanking.

That's nothing. Obama's idiotic "cash for Clunkers" program literally destroyed 690,114 usable automobiles. If you estimated each vehicle to be worth only $1,000, that would be 690 million dollars worth of perfectly good vehicles taken out of circulation. 690,114 perfectly good automobiles and trucks that could have been used by low-income drivers.

Those that were turned in, had to be completely destroyed by draining the oil, filling the crankcase full of sodium silicate, then running them until they locked up. The parts couldn't even be salvaged from them, as they had to be turned into scrap metal, much of which was sold to China.

Fuckobama.

Parable of the broken window - Wikipedia

Have you ever witnessed the anger of the good shopkeeper, James Goodfellow, when his careless son has happened to break a pane of glass? If you have been present at such a scene, you will most assuredly bear witness to the fact that every one of the spectators, were there even thirty of them, by common consent apparently, offered the unfortunate owner this invariable consolation – "It is an ill wind that blows nobody good. Everybody must live, and what would become of the glaziers if panes of glass were never broken?"

Now, this form of condolence contains an entire theory, which it will be well to show up in this simple case, seeing that it is precisely the same as that which, unhappily, regulates the greater part of our economical institutions.

Suppose it cost six francs to repair the damage, and you say that the accident brings six francs to the glazier's trade – that it encourages that trade to the amount of six francs – I grant it; I have not a word to say against it; you reason justly. The glazier comes, performs his task, receives his six francs, rubs his hands, and, in his heart, blesses the careless child. All this is that which is seen.

But if, on the other hand, you come to the conclusion, as is too often the case, that it is a good thing to break windows, that it causes money to circulate, and that the encouragement of industry in general will be the result of it, you will oblige me to call out, "Stop there! Your theory is confined to that which is seen; it takes no account of that which is not seen."

It is not seen that as our shopkeeper has spent six francs upon one thing, he cannot spend them upon another. It is not seen that if he had not had a window to replace, he would, perhaps, have replaced his old shoes, or added another book to his library. In short, he would have employed his six francs in some way, which this accident has prevented.

You don't understand private ownership do you?

That company owned those weapons and they can do anything they want with them.

What is with you people wanting anyone who does something you don't like to be criminally charged?

And with what law? What law did the company break?

You people need to grow up and accept reality. You can't force people to do what you want them to do.

Keep throwing your temper tantrum. Acting like a baby is one of the things you people do best.

A publicly-held corporation does not belong to the CEO; it belongs to the stockholders. The CEO, and all other executives, have a duty to protect the stockholders' value in the company.

Gratuitously destroying valuable company-owned property goes against that duty; makes the company poorer by the value of the destroyed property, and harms the stockholders' interests. This was a gross act of criminal malfeasance, committed against the stockholders, for which this piece of sh•• ought to be held criminally accountable.

In short, he boasts of having destroyed five million dollars worth of property that was not his to destroy.

Super. Given that there are an estimated 10 million semi automatic weapons in the USA he just made us 0.001% safer while at the same time hurting his shareholders. What a guy! :113:

The CEO of Dick’s Sporting Goods says that after the company made the decision to no longer sell assault-style rifles, more than $5 million worth of the weapons were destroyed.

In an interview with CBS News that aired Sunday, Ed Stack said following the decision last year to stop offering assault-style rifles, the question of what to with the remaining inventory lingered.

"I said, 'You know what? If we really think these things should be off the street, we need to destroy them,'" Stack said, adding that the company turned $5 million worth of the weapons into scrap metal.

While Dick’s saw a loss in immediate sales, its stock increased in the year after making the announcement.

:11_2_1043::yes_text12: There are better greater profits after dumping Assult weapons. Not supporting NRA Gun Nutters getting arms to the mass shooting, to sell more guns as kids die for the fears they have in their mentally weak minds.

So, please shop at a true MAGA Store in support.
There is not a single assault weapon in the photo. They did NOT destroy $5 million dollars in assault weapons. They did not sell assault weapons, they have never sold assault weapons. They had no assault weapons.

If they destroyed some merchandise, all they have done is make themselves poorer.

That is what happens when you're Dicks.

You people are so ridiculous.

So they didn't use the term semi automatic weapon. Big deal.

They destroyed 5 milion dollars worth of weapons that have no business being in civilian hands. That's a very good thing as far as most Americans are concerned.

If you're one of those who need a penis extender find a different object to do it.

Better yet, get psychological help. Only those who are in the military need a weapon like that.

What is it with you asshats and the penis......we start talking about guns and you automatically think Penis. You need to get help.

There's a quote, popularly misattributed to Freud, stating that a fear of weapons is a sign of retarded sexual development. Freud didn't actually say it, and I do not know who originally did; but whomever it was, seems to have been exactly right, based on how common it is to hear from those who hate the right to keep and bear arms, referring to them in sexual terms, and trying to attribute sexual deficiencies to those of us who support this right.

Their decisions cost the company 250 million dollars....

Dick's Sporting Goods CEO says company destroyed $5 million worth of weapons | Fox News

It also revamped its firearm sales policy to require a minimum age of 21 for gun purchases. Stack said the moves resulted in a loss of $250 million in sales. The financial loss didn't affect the company's stock price, which climbed in the year after Parkland.

He has no way of knowing it didn't affect the company's stock price just because it went up. It may have gone up even more without the $250 million loss in sales.

Did other sporting goods companies stock increase? If so, that might point to Trump's economic policies as opposed to any decision that Dick's made relative to firearms.

The ironically named Dick's still sells hunting knives, pistols, shotguns, rifles, bows and arrows.
If you want to kill someone you can still buy a tool to do so at Dick's.

They are pandering.

How come pistols are not considered "assault weapons?" If the media doesn't demonize them, then they are kosher and legal? The same mechanical process is used to launch projectiles from a semi-auto handgun as is used in rifles.

They know this. That is part of the plan. They ban AR-15 rifles using the excuse that they are "dangerous and unusual," and that non-military and police should not have them.....then, they come back later and point out...hey, by the way, other semi-auto rifles, shotguns and pistols are essentially the same thing......and heck, why not throw in revolvers too since they fire one shot per pull of the trigger....so now you have to let us ban those too......

It is all part of the plan....

Sniper Weapons
Saturday Night Specials
Assault weapons
Large Bore Guns

The most common weapon in the United States is the AR 15. Since the left cannot outlaw them, the next time a liberal occupies the White House, they will just use Trump's Bump Stock Ban precedent to outlaw the AR piece by piece:

Folding stocks
Telescoping stocks
Pistol grips
Bayonet lugs
High capacity magazines
Removable sight handle
Flash Hider
Folding sights
Barrels under 20 inches long

If Trump's Bump Stock Ban is not over-turned, the left will outlaw everything on an AR except the lower receiver, then they will demand you turn it in.

I stopped shopping at dicks after my first visit.
Their prices are ridiculous and I can drive down the road a few miles to Academy and buy the same shit for 25 to 30% cheaper, more in some cases.
