Israeli politicians on Friday blasted the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) after its representative criticized the sentencing of soldier Elor Azariya, who was convicted of manslaughter for shooting a wounded terrorist and was sentenced to 18 months in prison.

UN human rights spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani said the sentence imposed on Azariya was “excessively lenient.”

"We are deeply disturbed at the lenient sentence given by the Tel Aviv Military Court earlier this week to an Israeli soldier convicted of unlawfully killing a wounded Palestinian in an apparent extrajudicial execution of an unarmed man who clearly posed no imminent threat," she told a news briefing in Geneva.

Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman blasted the comments later on Friday.

"The twisted moral compass of the Human Rights Council is proven yet again. One bullet fired by Azariya at a terrorist is more serious than the millions of bullets that are used to murder innocent people in Syria, Libya, Iraq and Yemen. As usual, it is the Council of Hatred of Israel and not the Human Rights Council," said Liberman.

Exactly right. The UNHRC's statement should have read, "As usual, we are full of shit and everyone of us deserves to be hanged for promoting anti semitism and terrorism against Jews.

I'm surprised the soldier was found guilty and forced to even serve a few months prison time.

Usually they are awarded a medal for murdering palestinians. .....

You are thinking the other way round, the PA pays families of terrorists for their attacks on Israeli civilians, including attacks on weddings, schools, hospitals etc.
Which brings us to leniency.
The PA used to have a revolving door policy arresting them for the record of doing so, but immediately releasing them the same day.

There's a huge difference in code of conduct and civility which puts civil nations at a disadvantage and they feed on that like when crying foul the hypocracy and demonization tactic is liken to the game the Dems are playing now. They know they can fight dirty, because at worst they can claim the ole "see what they are doing" angle, even though they themselves are creating and baiting the situation they want to feed off of..
Now you get the game?
We learn from resemblances, learn to notice mimicked behaviors and tactics and judge through how you notice these resemblances in familiar views.

Well, justice was served when the terrorist was killed, but the IDF has to maintain discipline, so there had to be some penalty for killing the would be killer of Jews.

If there wasn't a video, nothing would have happened.

How many shekels a month is Azaria's family getting, again? Anyone know? What's the going rate? 3000 a month, isn't it?

Settler colonial projects are hardly civil. They are aggressive at their core.

That is true. Settler colonial projects describe the history of arab'ism since the invention of Islamist ideology by a desert arab.
Yeah, yeah, Another unsubstantiated Israeli talking point.

Yep. You retreat to your usual slogans because you're befuddled.

Do you mean like how Israel can say things that are not true.

Nonsense, he would have been punished anyway because he violated the rules of engagement, but without the video there would not have been a circus around the event.
