Karl Rove ‘offended’ by Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler ad

“I was, frankly, offended by it,” said Karl Rove on Fox News Monday. “I'm a huge fan of Clint Eastwood, I thought it was an extremely well-done ad, but it is a sign of what happens when you have Chicago-style politics, and the president of the United States and his political minions are, in essence, using our tax dollars to buy corporate advertising.”

More pathetic whining from the right.

Did Chrysler take any of that stimulus handout? Yes....I think they did. Hmmmm
not a surprise to me if it was a political commercial.

Even if it were political, it’s all good per Citizens United.

Detroit - specifically GM - took my (tax) money to bail their sorry-asses out.

Without my permission or consent, I may add.

I didn't see Ford, Toyota or Honda asking for a handout.

What should have been allowed is what happens to any sloppily-run, mismanaged, failing business.

Let the fucking company fail.

The true face of compassionate conservatism...

Ain't it tho......

The bailout didn't save GM, the bankruptcy did.

Interesting you blame a company for accepting a loan. Who's fault is it when a bad loan is made?

Frankly, I don't believe Rove here. That is, I don't believe he's offended, and I don't believe that the ad "made" him think of Obama's quest for a second term. I do, however, think that he saw the possible connection and USED it to raise issues of his own that might play well with the Republican base, which tends to dislike things like the bailout of the auto industry as a matter of principle, whether it works well or not.

Rove is not, to put it mildly, a model of honesty and integrity.

It seems that Pro-American doesn't fit well with turt blossom.
Unless it is pro 0.01% America.
Chrysler had a loan, it has paid it back.
But turd man doesn't quite get that statement.

The banks paid theirs back too but that doesn't stop cows and cowards and demoncrats from demonizing them.

Karl Rove ‘offended’ by Clint Eastwood’s Chrysler ad - The Washington Post

A Chrysler ad aired during the Super Bowl Sunday night has inspired ire among some Republicans and admiration among some Democrats — with both sides seeing a political message that boosts President Obama.

In an ad touting the resurgence of the American auto industry, Clint Eastwood declared that it’s “halftime in America and our second half’s about to begin,” which could be interpreted as a reference to Obama’s second term.

The ad’s themes seem to echo Obama’s own argument that his administration brought the auto industry back from the brink of disaster.

“They almost lost everything,” Eastwood says of Detroit. “But we all pulled together. Now Motor City is fighting again.”

Isn't Karl Rove the fucking asswipe that liked to insinuate that liberals were anti-Americans?

.

Holy crap, that ad sent a chill down my spine. Nice to hear some old fashioned optimism for a freakin' change, instead of whining and finger pointing. What's wrong, Republicans, Clint sounded like Ronald Reagan, what's wrong with that? Let me guess. It's because the current White House occupant has a (D) after his name.

Too bad the optimism of some has to be so conditional.

With interest, meaning it made a profit for the US in more ways than just jobs. And, the loans did a lot more than just keep manufacturing jobs. It also meant jobs all across the US.

It must really piss him off that GM is now #1 in the world of car makers. His money is probably in foreign made cars.

I didn't see Ford, Toyota or Honda asking for a handout.

Why would we loan money to Japanese car makers? Granted Toyota makes some of their cars here (and Ford makes some of theirs in Europe) - I still can't see giving them a loan.

I'll never go to another Eastwood movie.
That'll show him.

Seems to me that Rove is saying he saw a political message here. I didn't and most others didn't either but apparently Bush's Brain did. As much as Trump wants to think he's a king maker, its actually been Rove who has run the GObP for a long long time.

Interesting that so many R's are against a major US manufacturer being back on top. Its almost as if they make their money from foreign companies and foreign banks. And, as if the voters want manufacturing in the US to fail - which it did during the Bush regime. Naw ... That couldn't be. Our politicians investing in foreign banks and foreign companies? That's tantamount to treason.

Oh and whether you hate him or not - and what the hell is there to like?? - the documentary and book are eyeopeners and very interesting.

Gee asswipe - if the local porn shop tanks, no objection from you to draw from the taxpayers to bail them out? Without the permission/buy-in of the taxpayer? The "government" decides who gets money/who doesn't?

How fucking Nazi-esque.

There's that clanking sound of a duty-belt full of dildos again.

Hey clay miner, put that strap on away.

You'll put someone's eye out with it.

I put up another thread regarding this inspiring ad.

Not one shot was from Detroit. It was filmed in New Orleans and LA.

If it had been filmed in Detroit it would have scared the crap out of you.

Clint sold out to the enemy for huge piles of cash. I'll never go to another Eastwood movie.

Good.

I hope more people like you show this sort of lunacy.

Eastwood is pretty much a moderate who is center right..and never has expressed support for Obama. He has, however, shown a great deal of love for the American Auto.

Yet another vivid example of my point.

Yanno..........considering that GM just got back on their feet, yeah........it's halftime, and now the drive to be the best SHOULD be there.

I didn't think anything partisan when I watched it, I just thought........yeah.......GM is telling us that they are back on their feet and ready to be the number 1 automaker in the world again.

Incidentally..............you DO realize that Eastwood was a REPUBLICAN mayor of a city in CA, right?

I remember when, left or right, we cheered for American companies, American manufacturing, American cars, families, education, our future.

Now, its the R's sending our jobs to other countries and the rw voters cheering them on.

How did we come to a place where an entire segment of our population is in favor of selling us out?

Because democracy doesn't generate profits, selling out your country does.
