Native American tribes, for instance, didn't progress from industrial capitalism to their form of tribal communal arrangements; the Marxist versions aren't comparable, as they will be allegedly 'advanced technological and progressive' societies. Marx, and most Communists, didn't think 'barbarians' capable of developing advanced social structures.
