Just how many jobs did Romney create?

This is pretty funny, a video of Mitten walking back from "over 100,000 jobs" to " tens of thousands of jobs" to now just "thousands." I guess even he finally realized his lie wasn't going over.

Maybe tomorrow he'll be claiming "hundreds" of jobs.

If I were Mitt (lovin' the Mittens nickname though ).... and I could prove a substantial number of jobs created.... I sure as hell would not put it out yet. I would hold on to it until the GE... and then ram it down Obama's throat during a debate - live - with the evidence to prove it.

Y'all better hope Mittens isn't as devious as me.

I think you are both similar. You both lie. You both get caught. Only he changes his story at the drop of a hat.

Hilarious. Look at all these right wingers defending someone who denies what he said a mere ten minutes ago.

The truth is, if Bain created 100,000 jobs, then they should be proud. They should just release their records, like Mitt should release his tax returns. We are not saying we don't believe it, we are just saying we want proof.

Don't you guys? You wanted Obama's long form birth certificate. Hawaii had to make an exception to state law for a party that's all about, get this, "State's Rights". Hilarious. Didn't I tell you?

They are so desparte to get a white guy in the WHITE House, they are willing to take anyone for any reason no matter what they've done.

In fact, Willard has relatives in Mexico, his parents lived in Canada, he speaks "French", is the fucker even American??????????????????????? I want to see the fucker's LONG FORM birth certificate before anything else!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just so I am sure I have it right. You think Romney should release the Info of a private investment firm, but defended Obama not releasing his School Records?

lol

No, Right Wingers went against STATE LAW to force Hawaii to release their private property, which is how they, as well as other states, see a long form birth certificate.

I want to see Willard's long form birth certificate AND I want to see Mitt's tax returns. Why not? Obama released his. Don't you think Mitt should? The black guy did.

Now, as far as the jobs claim, we know Obama has told the truth. Only you guys lie, as always. We both know it. If Bain had created all those jobs, you would think they would be proud to "Prove it". If it can't be proven, stop saying it. Romney already has a credibility problem. Is that something any right winger can deny? Seriously?

i only read 6% of this

And understood less. Figures.

In June 1994, Bain put $18.2 million into Steel Dynamics, making it the largest domestic equity holder. It sold its stake five years later for $104 million, a return of more than $85 million.

As Bain made its investment, the state and county pledged $37 million in subsidies and grants for the $385-million plant project. The county also levied a new income tax to finance infrastructure improvements to benefit the steel mill over the heated objections of some county residents.

"I'm very pro-business, but I'm not pro-business-welfare," said DeKalb County resident Suzanne Beaman, 58, who fought the incentives. Steel Dynamics "would have done fine without our tax dollars, I have no doubt."

Mitt Romney no stranger to tax breaks, subsidies - latimes.com

Wow, check this out. What can we say? Welfare is OK as long as we give it to corporations? Wonder what President Willard will do?

He says 100,000.

I say he's lying.

Anyone know if he created any jobs at all, and if so how many?

Well let's see, They helped get Staples off the ground. They now employ 90,000 people. That's just 1 of over 100 Companies Bain Invested in.

I say, you are an idiot.

Just so I get this, We can not count the actual jobs created by Bain Investments, but Obama is allowed to Claim he "saved of Created Jobs"

Do you people even listen to yourselves? you are like the text book definition of Hypocritical assholes.

Do you know what Staples actually pays?

PayScale - Staples, Inc. Employer Wages, Hourly Wage Rate

Retail Sales Associate - $7.39- $11.15

Copy Center Specialist - $7.50- $12.82

Sales Asscoiate - $7.37 - $9.89

Seriously?

More important secondary question- what kind of jobs did he create.

He tries to excuse the jobs lost at AmPad and GS Steel- good paying union jobs with decent benefits, by claiming he created jobs at places like Staples.

So good paying, family supporting job replaced by a crappy retail job with no benefits?

Doesn't seem like a good deal.

Surely you don't suggest that these failed companys were on their way to success and Romney just put an end to it.

AmPad's last independent decision before Bain took over was to buy a typewriter company! How stupid is that?

Nice of Joe to completely ignore that fact as well. Bain never replaced one job with another. They created as many successful companies as they could. Period. Some companies just could not become profitable. Might have had something to do with those wages as well...

It is also interesting that you mention many of the floor jobs at staple but leave off every good paying job they have. There are a hundred other position within staples that you have completely failed to mention. I wonder why???

There is nothing wrong with making a company profitable and nothing wrong with firing people. That is how businesses works. You have said that you do not think profit is wrong. It seems that you do have an issue with profit after all. Or maybe you can explain what is so wrong with Bain attempting to make each acquisition as profitable as they can?

Do you know the difference between a company and a government? He wasn't 'creating jobs' as a political ploy - it's a private investment company, you thick idiot.

Seriously, you are rapidly becoming as big a joke as TruthMocker, Rdweeb and TeaPartySamuri. That that is not good - nope.

Well, there's a problem with that.

He's not running on the "I made a shitload of money for Rich Douchebags" platform.

He's running on the "I'm a Job Creator" platform.

He's not even talking about what he did as Gov. of Massachusetts, which is more recent and more indicative of what kind of president he'd be. (Namely, one that would be so unpopular after one term he don't dare run for re-election.)

He's talking about how he "created jobs" at Bain.

So asking "What kind of jobs did he 'creatively' destroy" and "what kind of crappy jobs did he create" are really valid questions, given what he is running on.

Kind of like when John Kerry said, "Reporting for Duty". What he did during and after the last time he reported for duty became more germaine than his 20+ years in Congress.

I think it's what you make a profit on.

I could make a profit selling drugs or running a whorehouse. But those things would be wrong.

If as you say, AmPad was a dying company, there was no real good reason for Bain to invest in it. If it was a weak company where they saw an oppurtunity to loot the assets and stick someone else with the debt, that's a different issue.

Here's the point. When AmPad was acquired by Bain, it had 11 million in debt and it's stock was trading at a decent amount. When it filed for bankruptcy, it had 400 million in debt, it's stock was delisted off the stock exchange, and someone else ended up eating all that liability. Bain made a lot of money, stockholders were left in the dust, and hundreds of people lost their jobs. Including those at the typewriter factory you go on about.

He is a 'job creator'. Real, private sector jobs. Not pretend, smoke and mirrors, 'we saved firefighters and teachers' types of jobs. I'm not criticizing firefighters or teachers - both are worthy professions (note: professsions, not 'workers' - ie, I respect and value their input to our society)... however, those jobs are government jobs that drain public funds. The jobs that Romney created add value to the public funds. They are the life blood of this country.

Your irrational hatred of Romney blinds you to simple facts.

The lifeblood of the country is consumer activity. That is why Abe Lincoln said that labor is the superior of capital. the labor performed by the teacher or the firefighters is just as important to a society as the labor performed by a factory worker or a store clerk.

Romney and his ilk decided that they could make more money by busting up union jobs, offshoring jobs, etc. Take money out of the workers pockets and putting them into their own.

The country is floundering today because those good wages in the private sector are slowly vanishing. And their solution to the crisis in government is, "Hey, those teachers and firemen are making too much money! Let's cut their pay, too!" which is just batshit crazy.

I mean, believing you wear magic underwear is batshit crazy, but it's harmless. Thinking you can impoverish the working class (oh, snap, there's that word 'class' again) to benefit the wealthy is not only batshit crazy (ask the Bourbons or Romanovs how well that worked out) but ultimately harmful.

Romney -- Vote for me because I made a lot of money.

As though that was a qualification to run a government?

100,000?

I rather doubt that.

But, hey! if the evidence is there I'm sure he'll be kind enough to show us the numbers.

Why do you insist on being spoon fed - particularly since, whatever he says, you'll assume it is a lie anyway. Why not just fucking look for yourself? The 'numbers' may not be at your fingertips.... but the investments made by Bains most certainly are.

One of the major factors in the global economic collapse was the imbalance between countries such as the US, consuming too much and producing too little and countries such as China consuming too little and producing too much. Consumerism is greed. Too much is dangerous for the economy.

Again, if you can give me a link, in context, to Romney saying anything about paying teachers, firemen, or any other government worker too much, I'd love to see it.

I think people should understand the type of business that Bain is in. If I'm correct they invest in upstart companies and companies that have red flags, If both of these types of companies succeed, the rewards are great, if not they can hurt. They all are risk investments, and if left alone or handled by another company, the outcomes would probably not change. I don't think you can put the blame on any one person, or even on Bain. Some companies succeed and the majority fail in this country.
It looks like those that want Romney to fail are only counting the companies that fail and so does the employment of those companies. The ones that succeed seems not to be counted in the mix.
I'm not a Romney fan, but I do understand how Bain and companies like Bain work....the rewards and the failures.
