Why not? What exactly would you be apprehensive or resentful about? What affect do you believe having her as a science teacher would have on your sons?

(I am academically curious and would appreciate knowing your thoughts about this.)

My dad was a wonderful man and father. He taught me morals and self respect. I am old school. Old fashioned. I am a prude and proud of it.

Women from good families don't go into porn.

Sex offenders think with their sexual organs and use force or manipulation. This woman used her sex for money, and had it filmed for anyone to see. I can see the similarities but not quite enough to call it offending except to people like me.
I think I'm done with this thread as well. Prudes are not tolerated well.

Sex crimes have little to do with the actual sex.

Sorry, but she's nasty and will always be a skank to me. I don't care about her "service" in the military. She used poor judgement to get many dicks up her ass, down her throat, getting pearl necklaces, shots of her very used snatch, gulping sperm and then had it filmed for money. That will never go away. And no way would I allow such a person to teach my kids. I don't care if she's another Steve Hawkings.

You seem to know a lot more about her film career than I do....

I have a four year old event that prevents me from getting jobs or apartments. (right there on the application... you got this, forget it.)

She has done very well. Her performance has always been excellent. On a squick factor, I don't care for it. But I am feeling pretty forgiving for her.

I think she has done more than enough penance. At this point, since she has kept her nose clean all these years, the quality of her instruction trumps her past.

Forgiveness for what?

For what she did when a porn star. Someone mentioned not forgiving. I didn't read where this woman even asked.

Doing porn isn't a crime though, I can see her saying she regrets doing it maybe but she didn't hurt anyone or doing anything illegal when she chose that career path.

Well those are crimes, porn is not. At the same token someone can say they don't want a Military Veteran to teach their children because they killed people in Iraq.

how do you know who to hire? You have to go by their past performance. Who is a good credit risk? Who should you rent your apartment to? If the guy has a violent history, most folks say no. You want to give a job to a guy who gets fired on a weekly basis?

The best predictor of the future is our history. In my case I hate it, but I live it and have to live with it. And if I were a landlord or an employer, I would make the same decisions they do. Sucks, but I shouldn't have done stupid.

Actually it depends, the families of porn stars vary from povery to well to do, I remember one girl saying her father was a Doctor. I know Lisa Sparxxx was going to school at North Carolina State before she went to Vegas and decided to do porn.

Like I said, I think it's what the local community will tolerate that should be the deciding factor. What are their kids like, is this something they'll become obsessed with?

Probably. In the old days, teachers actually lived with the families of student or school board members; they had to sign contracts saying they would not get married or behave in an untoward manner; they had to attend church and be upstanding members of the community. They did not want people of low character teaching their kids and spending hours of the day with them.

You tend to want to have teachers that can model ideal behavior and a strong value system. That's part of what teaching is SUPPOSED to be. One or two indiscretions a long long time ago is pretty easily overlooked or minimized by the passage of time. But she didn't have one or two indiscretions, she had a full blown CAREER and the fruits of that career are still out and available. So perhaps she would have been wiser to not set her sights on teaching teenaged boys and girls science. I mean, if she has really turned her life around and done so well, she should have the sense to know that meh, possibly with her history there could be other, equally satisfying, career choices. I doubt if any of the big laboratories give a shit about colorful histories; likewise, the forest service or dept. of ag...highly unlikely to care. Nasa? Well she'd never be an astronaut but I doubt unless she was going to be an astronaut they wouldn't give a shit either. Planned Parenthood, the medical field....all have wonderful careers for those with a love of science. Which makes me wonder, as it undoubtedly makes her school boards wonder...why DID she choose to teach teenagers, the ONE field that would likely consider her background important.....instead of any of the other possible career choices before her?

Right there, the down thumb...she'd get my no vote.

What would I be apprehensive about? Her lack of common sense 15 years ago. She's nasty. I don't care how much she has washed her hands or gargles or cleaned herself for 15 years, she is still nasty and will always be nasty. No way would I want her around my kids if I had any in her school. No. Way.

If it were revealed that her porn activities were recent, thereby reflecting an active part of her essential nature, one could only agree with your opinion. But inasmuch as the shameful aspect of her life took place fifteen years ago and her actions since then have demonstrated a sincere and successful effort to change and purify herself I submit there is an important and valuable philosophical lesson available from her example.

The question I have is do you believe that if properly presented to them your children might intellectually benefit from learning such a lesson about human nature and morality?
