I've gone out of my way to sit in front of the teevee and watch both this show and The Kardashians™. Interestingly, I had similar physiological reactions to both.

In both cases, and within four or five minutes, I noticed that things were slowing down. My thought processes, the speed at which my eyes blinked, my breathing, my hand and finger movements. It was as if I was slowly becoming paralyzed by some kind of virus or gas. And it appeared to be progressing.

Fortunately, with concentration and not a little effort, I was able to summon the intellectual focus and physical strength required to pick up the remote. I was feeling much better within half an hour or so.
