Who said the Left are fascists?

Both The New York Times and Washington Post blasted the free speech position taken by President Donald Trump last week.

World leaders, led by New Zealand, united around the Christchurch Call to demand stronger internet censorship. This followed the deadly Christchurch terror attack that killed 51 people. President Trump not only refused to sign on, but established a censorship reporting hotline.

That didn’t sit well with major liberal news outlets. Both The Washington Post and The New York Times have written scathing pieces blasting the Trump administration. The Post condemned Trump for waging an “evidence-free assault on social media sites for supposedly censoring conservative voices.”

Opinion writer at large Charlie Warzel wrote in The Times that while he understands that online content regulation can be a ”minefield of unintended consequences” he asserted that for Trump, “to turn one’s back on that commitment isn’t just lazy, its shameful.”

Much like Trump’s withdrawal from the Paris Climate Accord, the liberal rhetoric on this has been schizophrenic. At the same time that they have stressed that this is a mere “ceremonial” or “informal international pact,” the media have expressed panic that Trump has refused to join.

Thank God for our President. James Coburn's Flint got nothing on our man Trump.

Yes, Trump has been a champion of freedom of the press as long as they say good things about him. Otherwise, they are an enemy of the state.

/——-/ Commies using free speech to condemn Trump for not promoting censorship. Ironic, isn’t it.

/——/ Yes but Trump doesn’t try to silence them, he only criticizes them. Big difference.

Yup. He threatened SNL with the FCC or FEC b/c they dared to mock the crown. It was dreadfully funny. It is almost as comical as pretending one as a right to social media account. Almost.

Trump isnt defending free speech, he's trying to make social media companies permit hate speech and online harassment. Take these examples:

Despite their accusations, there isn’t firm data supporting the argument that tech companies are partial along ideological lines. Many conservative accounts have been suspended on major tech platforms; so have many accounts on the left. The highest profile examples of so-called bias are often, in fact, a matter of far-right figures egregiously violating the platforms’ terms of service. Trump booster and internet troll Jacob Wohl, for example, was banned from Twitter after creating a set of duplicitous accounts for the purpose of spreading false political information. Infowars creator Alex Jones was banned from all major platforms after a number of violations—spreading hate speech and inciting harassment over the course of years, including spearheading a long-term hoax that the mass shooting victims at Sandy Hook Elementary School were not real.

The Christchurch Call pact is just trying to curb hate speech and hate crime. Because the purpertrator in new zealand was radicalized online. First amendment doesnt permit propagation of hate crimes.
