It's Time For National High Speed Rail

Just saw a short documentary on "TV Japan" showing the history of the "Shinkansen" bullet train system there. My thought was.....fuck....the USA is stupid for not having them.

Here's an article about the success of the system in Japan.

It's time.

Japan has about 20 times the population density of the United States. Even so, it still loses money on the bullet train. High speed rail has never paid for itself. Air travel is far cheaper and far more efficient.

This world of nations was built upon...

1) Foot traffic.
2) Horse traffic.
3) Steam traffic.
4) Coal traffic.
5) Hydrocarbon traffic.

And yet none of the above is faster than the electron.

Stay the fuck home and work from your computer.

High Speed Rail is worthless technology.

it would be a huge money loser so why have it??

The "high speed" rail link from Anaheim to San Francisco is now predicted to cost $100 billion dollars, and since it is now going to use the same tracks that cargo traffic uses, the top speed will be 67 mph.

Does anyone besides me think this project is absolutely nuts?

High-speed rail in the US is redundant. It's good for places like Japan which due to very limited space can't plop down massive airports, but can fit in some train tracks and stations.
