Because of Biden's support for Iran and acquiescence to its nuclear ambitions, Israel felt it necessary to allow a game-changing event to take place in order protect itself. Egyptian authorities warned Israel of an impending attack by Hamas, but Israel decided to keep this information from the US and allow it to happen. The scale and violence of the attack were greater than Israel expected, but the effect has been to garner sympathy for Israel and to force the Biden administration to back off its pro-Iran foreign policy.
It has worked so far, but Israel is on a short timeline to eliminate Hamas from Gaza. Protracted occupation of that area will eventually lead to the resumption of anti-Israeli/pro-Palestinian sentiment in the US media, as Israel's actions will start being compared to Russia's actions in Ukraine. Israel only has a year, at most, to clear Hamas out of Gaza and then hope for the Biden administration to be voted out of office.
Will that be enough time to deter Iran from getting nuclear weapons?
