Over the years I have tried almost every scope solution for the M1A and none of them are very good. The scope sits highs and adds weight to an already heavy weapon. Once you put a scope on it then it is pretty much a bench rest shooter. Nowadays I don't have a scope on any of my M1As.

The only scope worth putting on a M-14 would be a Trijicon TA-01B. However, you need the Trijicon $600 scope mount for it to be low enough. That scope is light enough and low enough with the proper mount to maintain the MBR aspects of the M-14.
