Amazing so many are so willing to allow Politician buffoons to tell them where they can and can't eat. Here's an idea, how about just letting the People decide for themselves where they want to eat? This guy is a Nazi puke. I don't even care what your politics are. Government doesn't belong in this issue. Period, end of story.

I always err on the side of liberty, like you ;)

A Mosque is a religious organization like a Temple or a Church. Last I checked, religious groups have the freedom to practice and say what they want about their beliefs. Has that changed?

And you don't believe in liberty or individual freedom. If you did, you would at least admit an elected official representing the people would have the freedom to say "no". You believe, what you wrote, that ANY company can set up ANYWHERE and let the people deal with it.

You believe in company > people.

Still ducking the hypocrisy issue, aren't you?

You are a complete ideological sheep.

It's not hypocrisy. A Church or a Temple or a Mosque is NOT the same as a chicken restaurant. As much as you want to think they are, they aren't.

How about this. Show me in the Constitution where it says no level of Government has the power to stop a business from coming into an area.

That is a strawman argument.

You are failing.

It's not a straw man. It's the heart of the argument. You guys are pissed because he appears to be supporting the Mosque while going after the chicken restaurant. You claim it's hypocritical, but it's not, because they are two VERY different things.

Again, show me in the Constitution where it says he can't block the restaurant. You can't. But we all know the Constitution says he can't block the Mosque. Why? Because one is a religious group and the other is a chicken restaurant.

That isn't the point of the thread, why toss red herrings in here? The point is Menino came out against the restaurant for being against gay marriage but completely supported helping an Imam raise funds for a mosque that preaches the punishment for being gay should be death (the imam not the mosque itself, this imam is now barred from the USA for ties to terror).

Please stop obfuscating the issue. (is there an echo in here?)

To be fair ALL mosques are anti gay, Islam is very clear about where it stands regarding homosexuality and there isn't alot of wiggle room there.

Exactly. And all Catholic Churches are that way too. And no mayor has a right to block either of them from his city. Because religious freedom is a protected right.

Chicken restaurants are not a protected right.

However the Mayor doesn't have the power to tell them they can't open a business, it is not in his pervue Menino: Looks like I can’t ban Chick-fil-A from Boston after all « Hot Air

And, as i've said since the first post, the issue is that Mayor Menino stood hand in hand with a man who calls for gays to be executed for being gay in order to help him raise money to build a mosque in boston while he comes out and tries to illegally stop a restaurant from being built because they believe in defining marriage as between one mand and one woman.

Which is the lesser of 2 evils, wanting to kill gay people for being gay or wanting to define marriage as between one man and one woman?

Blocking chicken restaurants from being built because you you don't like the religious beliefs of the owners is a violation of protected rights.

You are a failure.

No. It's not. And you still have not shown that it is. You're not even trying to. Probably because you know you're wrong.

Menino: Looks like I can’t ban Chick-fil-A from Boston after all « Hot Air

Mayor Menino said:
“I can’t do that. That would be interference to his rights to go there,” Menino said, referring to company president Dan Cathy, who drew the mayor’s wrath by going public with his views against same-sex marriage.

The mayor added: “I make mistakes all the time. That’s a Menino-ism.”

I really don't know how that guy has managed to stay in office as long as he has. He's a dipshit.

Well we DID reelect ted Kennedy for decades after he murdered Mary Jo drunk driving, we voted to VOLUNTARILY increase our sales tax to 6.25%, and we continue to re-elect John Kerry who is NEVER AROUND.

However my state does make some good votes sometimes, Scott Brown for example.

Boston is a very very liberal place and Mayor Mumbles Menino is well liked by the liberals.

Now come down to SE MA and you will find out where the rednecks are hiding out

I love how you guys think an anti-gay company should be allowed to set up shop anywhere, and that that is the exact same as a religious group spouting their beliefs.

Idiot..... It's not an anti-gay company....

All Dan Cathy sad was "This is a family run business and we support traditional marriage."

How the FUCK is that anti-gay???

He didn't say anything about gay marriage.....

Lets not forget Strom Thurmond.....

How much do you value your personal convictions? How does that translate in relation to others? You do know that said Company does both Serve and Employ Gay's, Right?

me personally, I wouldn't eat there....however my issue is with the whole hypocricy of Menino on the "Gay rights" issue.

On the one hand he goes after a business who supports traditional marriage and treats them negatively while on the other hand he works with an Imam who calls for the execution of gays to help raise funds for a mosque.

Seriously I'll ask the poll question of everyone again...which is worse?

1) Supporting the traditional definition of marriage at the expense of gay couples who wish to marry
2) Supporting the position that all homosexuals should be killed.

In light of which of those 2 positions is the obvious evil one why would the mayor support the one guy calling for murdering gays but come out against the other guy based on their belief in marriage being betweeen one man and one woman?

Wow.

If you are a mayor of a small town and you block someone from building a business because you have found out they are a Christian, that is not a violation of protected rights and liberties in America?

Do you even think before you type?

Why do you refuse to stick to the topic? Of course a Mayor couldn't block someone from building a restaurant because that person is Christian. That's not what's happening here!

OK, let me go through this a bit at a time:
Gentleman A makes a public statement that his religious ideals include viewing marriage as defined by the bible.
Gentleman B makes repeated public statements that his religious ideals include punishing homosexuals with death.
You, as the head political/government representative of some principality publicly declare that you will not permit the man's whose religious declaration is that he believes marriage is as defined in his religious text.
You not only permit the man who has declared he wants to see all homosexuals DEAD, you help that man raise money and build an establishment within the municipality you represent.
Refresh me again, who's the bigoted homophobe?

I am still waiting for someone to explain how this isn't complete hypocricy on menino's part.

LOL!
I am usually forced by my work schedule at home to slow down a bunch on weekends. There are times when I am waiting for a batch of cheese to get to the right temperature, or for a curd to set, or some such task that keeps me tied down for a bit, I'll indulge myself while waiting. Otherwise, I'm online a bunch more when I'm at my job. I have the incredible good fortune to have a regular job where the boss actually signs out a radio and an iPad to each technician. We monitor our schedules (which tend to be fluid) and complete our paperwork online. We are permitted to surf the net, as long as we don't miss our flights or download porn.

N0-one has yet mentioned Rahm Emanuel, the Boss of Chicago. He and some other Chicago aldermen have come out in opposition to Chic-Filet but yet they have joined with Farrakhan to patrol the streets of Chicago.
Now, walk into The Nation of Islam and declare your desire to be a member and also mention that you are a card carrying gay man and oh by the way my partner in marriage also wants to be a member. What do you think your reception would be? Hypocricy is not limited to Boston.

Yea but this thread is limited to Boston Mayor Menino's hypocricy ;)

Under the Constitution, the mayor does not have the authority to ban Chic-Fil-A from Boston or any other place based on the owner's religious beliefs because that constitutes the denial of the right to worship and seeks to establish the government as a holder of religious beliefs.

As long as Chic-Fil-A complies with local regulations concerning the establishment of a business and the sale of their product, they should be permitted to open restaurants wherever they please.

Fuck the Mayor of Boston and what he thinks about the Cathy.

All you liberals are full of shit!:D
