Howard Zinn: A Communist and a Liar

And now Communism is no big deal. Hell, it's a pretty good system! It never worked before because the US never let it succeed!

It only killed a hundred million people. Let's give it another chance!

Right, USMB "progressives"?
Now tell us how many millions capitalism has killed?
You tell me, George. Now, quick, make up a big scary number!
What's the USAF's contribution to that number?

Hypocrite.
Quite small, actually. The USAF was created in 1947.

Hey, have you ever spit on a veteran? Oh, that's right. You couldn't have. You're a coward.
While it isn't likely a big scary slave like yourself cares, capitalism's death toll which includes sources "...like starvation, violence, slavery, refusal of health care, business health and safety negligence, pollution, basically any deaths that were brought about by profit motive," continue to escalate on a daily basis while Communism's death parade has largely passed.

If you weren't such a gutless hypocrite, Dave, you might also admit the one million Cambodian deaths attributed to communism were made possible by the carpet-bombing baby killers you currently enable in Iraq and Afghanistan.

"Think of any wars with money being the driving force. Think of all the children and adults who starve to death when there is plenty of food in the world, yet no one feeds them because it would cost money.

"Think of the people who have died because they couldn't afford good health care. Think of the homeless ex-suburbanites and Vietnam vets who die shivering on the streets. Keep thinking."

While you're at, think of a couple of good examples of Howard's "fantastic distortions of history."

Holy shit, you're stupid.

Yeah, that's it, Goeroge. You just keep calling for the destruction of the Constitution while hiding behind its protections. You're a chickenred.

That woman at the protest handing out pro-Castro literature is a chickenred...she'd never move to Cuba.

Chris Hedges@CommonDreams:

"Today I will teach my final American history class of the semester to prison inmates. We have spent five weeks reading Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States...

"We have covered Spain's genocide of the native inhabitants of the Caribbean and the Americas, the war for independence in the United States and the disgraceful slaughter of Native Americans.

"We have examined slavery, the Mexican-American War, the Civil War, the occupations of Cuba and the Philippines, the New Deal, two world wars and the legacy of racism, capitalist exploitation and imperialism that continue to infect American society.

"We have looked at these issues, as Zinn did, through the eyes of Native Americans, immigrants, slaves, women, union leaders, persecuted socialists, anarchists and communists, abolitionists, anti-war activists, civil rights leaders and the poor."

Chris seems to think it was the power of Howard's scholarship that "explains why the FBI, which released its 423 page file on Zinn on July 30, saw him as a threat."

Hedges came to this conclusion from watching his young, mostly African-American students' eyes open "to their own history and the structures that perpetuate misery for the poor and gluttony and privilege for the elite..."

The FBI file stretches from 1948 to 1974, and "...seems to indicate that our security agencies prefer to hire those with mediocre or stunted intelligence, dubious morality and little common sense."

There's the peculiar reference to "an inquiry...made of the subject's sister, Doris Zinn, 926 Lafayette Avenue, under suitable pretext."

"Zinn's daughter Myla Kabat-Zinn, is struck by this reference.

"My father never had a sister...It's just bizarre. If they thought he had a sister, I have to question a lot of what's in the file."

Giving the fact Van Jones DIDN'T sign the petition I want proof Zinn did Boed.

Yep. Van Jones is my hero also. He is and was a Commie. And, he has a long record of hostility to cops in numerous slam dunk cases where those he supported were convicted of breaking the law.

What I don't understand is why The Black Racist MARXIST, Palestinian Guardian, Muslim PC Protector, and NOW.....SUPPORTER AIDER & ABETTOR of ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION and MEXICAN DRUG CARTELS' PUSSY Obami OSAMI
Lopezi demoted Van Jones......after all, "birds of a feather fuck together".

Actually Van Jones also is not a convicted felon, had no involvement in the Rodney King case, and he is also not a communist. But keep spreading the bullshit.
Out of his own mouth he professed to being a communist!!!!

Seventeen years after his Brooklyn birth in 1922, Howard Zinn accepted the dare of some young communists in his neighborhood to attend a political rally in New York's Times Square.

"Suddenly I heard sirens sound and I looked around and saw the policemen on horses galloping into the crowd and beating people, (Howard) told AP. "I couldn't believe it."

"And then I was hit. I turned around and I was knocked unconscious. I woke up sometime later in a doorway, with Times Square quiet again, eerie, dreamlike, as if nothing had happened.

"I was ferociously indignant."

It was Howard's combat experience during WWII as a bombardier that made him question war and capitalism's existential need for it. After the war ended, Howard enrolled as a 27-year-old Freshman at New York University on the GI Bill while working nights loading trucks to support his family.

Howard's blue collar roots stretched through his master's thesis at Colombia where he probed the Colorado coal strikes of 1914, and his doctoral dissertation which depicted Fiorello LaGuardia's congressional career as the "conscience of the twenties (fighting) for public power, the right to strike, and redistribution of wealth by taxation."

Those fascists Howard helped blow away in Europe couldn't hold a candle to today's Wall Street versions. Maybe the saddest part of Howard's death comes from realizing that most Americans today are too divided by red and blue contrivances to get ferocious or indignant about the current slow motion corporate/Pentagon coup taking place.

Communism must be enacted at the point of a gun. Capitalism is pro-liberty. Communism is not.
So only communism has to be enacted at the point of a gun? It's a shame you didn't find time to deliver that message to Salvador Allende, before Milton Friedman and his Chicago Boys convinced the Chilean military to depose and then murder an elected president.

I'll bet many Native Americans would be surprised at capitalism's pro-liberty manifesto. There might have been a few African slaves who were confused about Massa's commitment to liberty, as well.

Even by Government standards, your Bush-like attempts at thinking leave much to be desired. Don't you ever tire of shilling for rich admirals and generals and investment bankers?

Ever thought of suicide by generator?

Unlike most hired killers who drop their bombs and drink away the memories, Howard returned to the scene of one of his war crimes. In 1945 Howard dropped some of the first napalm over Royan, France, and 19 years later he returned to research his book The Politics of History

''On the ground, Zinn learned that the aerial bombing attacks--in which he participated--had killed more than 1000 French civilians...Zinn described how the bombing was ordered--three weeks before the war in Europe ended--by military officials who were, in part, motivated more by the desire for career advancement than legitimate military objectives."

American elites like German, Russian, British, French, etc, etc, elites are ALL war mongers. For thousands of years before anyone coined the word socialism, the guiding principle of all governments was to socialize cost while privatizing profit for a select few.

No country has ever done that better than the USA or England.
