Lol I don't even know who that is. XD

Seriously!! What is with you people!! I can't believe all of the not liking trick-or-treating and candy comments I received so far. Now I can't blame any children for not wanting to trick-or-treat at the white house right now, but come on guys! It's free candy!

I was around fourteen myself.

That's what I was thinking lol

I'm a woman myself so if she didn't come to the door with any children I'd say she was too old for trick-or-treating. You're never too old for candy though. :D
The fall festivals were a lot more fun. You got a big bag of candy just for showing up and they had games were you could win everything from cakes to pies cases of sodas. A social workers once took us to a wealthy mans house in Melbourne Florida that was great the owner was a scots gentleman who like having the poor kids over for trick or treat it was a beutifull mansion he loaded us down with candy.

What's the good, but adults without children is just called begging. How often do you see adults sitting on Santa's lap without any kids? Similar sort of thing.

Lol I meant well that's good not what's. Auto correct strikes again. 🙄

I think thirteen is a good time to start thinking less about begging for candy, and more about finding a party.

I have occasionally gotten a 16-year-old pretending their Raiders jersey is a costume. I feel totally justified in making fun of them for it, then giving them a single Mary Jane or caramel chew.

That's a trick who is a definite treat, and if she came to my door, I'd offer her my biggie Zagnut.

As far as how old is too old? If they look over the age of 13, and don't have costumes, I tell them to scram. If they are older kids escorting youngsters without a costume? I only give candy to the kids. However, if they have gone to the trouble of both creating a costume AND escorting the younglings around, I'm a mensch, and will give them candy also.

Heck, if the parents dressed up and their costumes are cool looking or show that they took time to make them, I give the parents candy as well.

She'd be disappointed when you gave her a miniature Tootsie Roll!

Women aren't deprived in any way shape or form on Halloween. They can dress scantily and show up in just about any bar in America and generally get a free drink on the house. I know that when I was a bartender, if a woman came in with a really neat costume, I'd buy her a beer (it was a beer only bar).
So you were a beertender, not a bartender!

Basqueromance, Dont Taz Me Bro, Progressive Patriot, BikerSailor, and a few others on this forum would be prime candidates especially if Santa's fly was unzipped!

Why so many threads from a professing "Christian" on the Church of Satan's high holy day?

What Satan worshippers say bout YOU:

Satanists embrace what this holiday has become, and do not feel the need to be tied to ancient practices. This night, we smile at the amateur explorers of their own inner darkness, for we know that they enjoy their brief dip into the pool of the “shadow world.” We encourage their tenebrous fantasies, the candied indulgence, and the wide-ranging evocation of our aesthetics (while tolerating some of the chintzy versions), even if it is but once a year. For the rest of the time, when those not of our meta-tribe shake their heads in wonder at us, we can point out that they may find some understanding by examining their own All Hallows Eve doings, but we generally find it simpler to just say: “Think of the Addams Family and you'll begin to see what we're about.”

I'm quite tall, I stopped early because I got a lot of flak for being too old. I hung with the older kids who were doing the actual tricks......:dev3:

12 was the age limit for me. I never liked Trick or Treating I enjoyed the fall festival parties thrown by the churches and local clubs.

Didn't see any 'trick or treaters' the last few Halloweens; those 'Haunted House' things that spring up all over now are a far better deal these days, so most go to those. And yes, a lot of churches are running parties to counter the pagan crap as well.

'Halloween' for my town meant an excuse for staying out late and conducting rotten egg and water balloon wars with roving gangs of teenagers. and toilet papering yards.

Intentions always matter DeathAngel.. the bottom line really.

He should really learn to stay out of these kinds of threads if it triggers him so much. Nobody wants to be preached to in a thread about getting dressed up and getting candy.

I almost gave this post a thumbs up FBJ thinking how we agree that celebrating Halloween is based on positive intentions for a very large majority only interested in having fun dressing up in costumes. What stopped me is freedom of speech is more important than having only 100% acceptance when questions are posed in OP’s.

Yeah,.. I guess you sort of have a point. I mean that's not ALL I'm interested in. I love scary movies, carving pumpkins, and going on hayrides and such,.. but I'm not worshipping Satan or dabbling in the occult or sacrificing animals or anything.

I would agree with you that around age 12 is when it evolves from going door-to-door to hosting and going to costume parties. That said, there are exceptions. A physically and mentally handicapped girl in my neighborhood who is well beyond 12 continues to trick-or-treat. There would be no way I would never give her candy;)
