I had a Sociology major trying to tell me yesterday that kids today are smarter.

I told him I see no evidence of that.

They're dumb but they're being told they're smarter.


I asked him why so many business majors can't find a job today.

He said he didn't know.

I said it's because most of them know theory but they don't have the drive nor the capital to start their own business. Forget the fact that most of them just wanted to show up at a company and wave their diploma and get a high paying job without any experience.

That spending cuts will tend to slow economic growth and increase unemployment? I don't think they disagree with that. The annual growth rate of our economy increased from 1.3% in the second quarter to 2% in the third and the largest component of that increase was government spending. Cut that spending and you will put people out of work. Unemployed people pay no taxes and collect social welfare benefits so that while the new taxes and the spending cuts will lower the deficit, the new unemployed will tend to raise it again.

The only way to break this cycle is to hold spending steady while we grow the private sector economy until it is large enough to support our spending. We should be talking about ways to increase the rate of growth of the economy instead of ways that will slow it down.

I voted Romney, as you well know, daveman. I worked my butt off to make sure the doofi of the far right did not make it, which, thank heavens, panned out for the good guys. Now I am going to work for 2016 for the GOP, and I am going to work as hard as I can here against haters in the party. That hate cost us the election, nothing else. We should have won by 10 points. We did not because of the hate.
