Waiting on the Cowardly Dante!!
The Hill ^

The House on Thursday in a 252-172 vote approved legislation that would waive fees on businesses that do not offer health insurance to employees working fewer than 40 hours per week. The legislation – which has been at the center of a heavy corporate lobbying campaign – only received 12 Democratic votes. Eighteen Democrats backed the bill during a House vote on the same issue last spring. No Republicans opposed the measure. The White House has threatened to veto the bill, which strikes at the healthcare law’s mandate that businesses provide insurance. The legislation is the GOP’s first chance to...

hopefully it won't pass the Senate...

this gives the A-OK for companies to work employees 39.5 hours and not provide health care insurance any more, even though they had been buying it for their workers for the last 20 years with 35 hours or more.... then those workers can be dumped on the exchange and us tax payers will have to pay for more people..

35 hours would have been a better revision...

I'm so sick of politicians wasting our time and money on this kind of crap...they KNOW THEY CAN NOT OVER RIDE THE VETO.... it's all just political posturing, and a waste of our time and money....

Some where some weren't but they weren't forced to pay for it. The purpose of obamacare is to dump more people on government insurance anyway. The whole thing needs to be repealed and start over

You have to wonder if people even understand what they post. The warrior princess says that companies provided healthcare for their employees for the last 20 years and the employees were happy with that. Obamacare came along and caused that relationship to change for the worse. Hello! Ask the employees whether they want to work 30 hours or 40 hours to support their families. People like care for all seem to want people,to suffer just to make obamacare a success. All these problems are obamas fault but now the villains are the businesses. Liberal ideology at its irrational zenith.

In the mean time, this move of the House would cost us a FORTUNE...big companies that used to have the benefit for 35 hours or more full timers will have no GUILT when dropping insurance on those employees not meeting or not scheduled 40 hours each and every week of the year because they can just go to the exchange and qualify for health care insurance with government subsidies from our taxes....

This is A STUPID STUPID STUPID MEASURE.....

and no hourly worker accumulates 40 hours, every single week of the year....companies try to work them 37 or 38 hours on slow weeks... making it ok to drop them off of insurance and DUMP THEM on us....

Again, this is so stupid and a GIFT HORSE for corporations.

it'll be cheaper for most companies to simply drop their insurance coverage and let the employees go on Obamacare. Many will do that in the future Obamacare sucks like I said

you seem to like Obamcare that's all that really matters:thup:

Lavish ‘Cadillac’ Health Plans Dying as Obamacare Tax Looms

Large employers are increasingly putting an end to their most generous health-care coverage as a tax on “Cadillac” insurance plans looms closer under Obamacare.

Employees including bankers at JPMorgan Chase & Co. (JPM) and college professors atHarvard University are seeing a range of moves to shift more costs to workers. Companies are introducing higher deductibles and co-payments, rising premiums and the imposition of wellness programs that carry penalties for people who don’t comply.

The tax takes effect in 2018, and employers are already laying the groundwork to make sure they don’t have to pay the 40 percent surcharge on health-insurance spending that exceeds $27,500 for a family or $10,200 for an individual. Once envisioned as a tool to slow the nation’s growing health-care tab, the tax has in practice meant higher out-of-pocket health-care costs for workers.

“I don’t think there’s any employer that’s planning on paying that tax,” Steve Wojcik, vice president of public policy for the National Business Group on Health, which represents large employers, said in a phone interview.

Care, 30 hours is a smaller paycheck. And by your own admission, the bad bad companies had no problem buying insurance for their workers for 20 years BEFORE Obamacare reared it's ugly head, and would have continued to cover their workers if Obama hadn't counted on our stupidity to pass an enormous tax and fine bill under the guise of health care. When you fix something that isn't broken, it breaks.

It's not a waste of time, it's covering their ass.

They were voted into office to go against Obamacare. So, they voted part of it down. Now, if Obama vetos it, then its on HIM, not on republicans. They're basically saying, "You voted us in to repeal Obamacare, we can't do that but we can repeal a part of it. Here, we tried and Obama vetoed it, so that's all we can do."

If Obamacare hadn't passed, exchanges wouldn't exist. Don't blame Republicans for realizing the government doens't belong in this. The Democrats played politics passing it then whine when politics is played in return.

It is the republicans DOING THIS, and they are handing over to all Corporations with hourly employees, the opportunity to kill health care coverage as a benefit to their FULL TIME EMPLOYEES and push them ALL OFF on to us, the tax payer, by putting them on to the Exchange....and without any guilty feelings needed on their no longer covering these full time employee with health care, because they KNOW the gvt will pick up the tab.

NO HOURLY employee is worked 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year....they are mostly worked 37 to 38 hours as their normal schedule now a days....so this means ALL hourly full time employees, WITHOUT EVEN A PENALTY of these corporations can be easily DUMPED ON US....

O-care DID NOT DO THAT, but the Republicans in the House DID.

This is a ''gift horse'' to their beloved corporations and a HUGE BURDEN on all of us....it STINKS to high heaven.

Not one republican voted for obamacare. Only democrats voted for it with the built in con that it wouldn't take effect til after the 2012 elections. Now everyone is finding out what was in it. Don't lie and call it a fact Care. You democrats made this bed and you have to sleep in it.

You missed the point. Had the exchanges not been created by Democrats playing politics, businesses wouldn't be fighting back. Without the government action FIRST, nothing that happens after that occurs. What do you not understand about cause and effect?

Are you really trying to claim businesses wouldn't be finding ways to fuck over their employees if it weren't for ObamaCare?

Did you miss the whole 2008-2010 period where they took advantage of the recession to screw over their employees? Because most of us didn't miss that.

We need single payer and we need to get employers out of the Health Care business. they kind of suck at it.

Depends on what you call fucking over employees. You call an employer paying someone with $8/hour a wage of $8/hour as doing that. I call it paying them what those skills are worth.

Unless you can show me in the Constitution where the government has delegated authority over healthcare, they need to get out of it. They kinda suck at everything.. Just look at the all that was spent on their war on poverty only to have approximately the same percentage on poverty 50 years later.

Forcing people to buy insurance and giving businesses an alternative was a dumb idea anyway. They knew exactly what would happen. The Dem's really want single-payer. The ACA was never intended to work.....
