House votes down ObamaCare’s 30-hour workweek, 252-172

hopefully it won't pass the Senate...

this gives the A-OK for companies to work employees 39.5 hours and not provide health care insurance any more, even though they had been buying it for their workers for the last 20 years with 35 hours or more.... then those workers can be dumped on the exchange and us tax payers will have to pay for more people..

35 hours would have been a better revision...
Maybe in the future you will fucking listen to us.

It isn't like we didn't warn you that this would happen. We did.

BTW....Having to work 40 hours each and every week is not how a full time person is classified. They are classified full-time 40 hours by their schedule, not the actual number of hours worked.

A part-time person is scheduled ONLY 35 or fewer hours. They don't lose the part-time designation if they happen to work a 42 hour week one or more weeks a year.

If Obamacare hadn't passed, exchanges wouldn't exist. Don't blame Republicans for realizing the government doens't belong in this. The Democrats played politics passing it then whine when politics is played in return.
It is the republicans DOING THIS, and they are handing over to all Corporations with hourly employees, the opportunity to kill health care coverage as a benefit to their FULL TIME EMPLOYEES and push them ALL OFF on to us, the tax payer, by putting them on to the Exchange....and without any guilty feelings needed on their no longer covering these full time employee with health care, because they KNOW the gvt will pick up the tab.

NO HOURLY employee is worked 40 hours a week, 52 weeks a year....they are mostly worked 37 to 38 hours as their normal schedule now a days....so this means ALL hourly full time employees, WITHOUT EVEN A PENALTY of these corporations can be easily DUMPED ON US....

O-care DID NOT DO THAT, but the Republicans in the House DID.

This is a ''gift horse'' to their beloved corporations and a HUGE BURDEN on all of us....it STINKS to high heaven.

Wasn't the goal of the ACA to move people to government care? With exchanges you pay what you can afford, corporations only have to pay 60% of the insurance as it is. So, if you are working 30 hours, you could be paying 40% of policy, if you went to the exchange, low income would get 80%-100% paid for.

I think that was one step in the much larger plan of single payer.

No. Please cut with the bull crud...the plan was to get more employers covering more employees with health care just as Romney care, and those who did not have employer coverage and never had employer coverage, a means to get them covered at an expense they could afford.

This plan, for making 40 hours a week as the definition of full time, means those who work 39.5 hours a week, can be designated as PART TIME and the companies no longer have to cover them with health care insurance, and no longer would be subject to the penalty, which gives these employers the free slate to dump ALL insurance for their full time employees less than 40 hours on to the exchange, and it MAKES US pay for it. It increases our deficit by a minimum of 53 billion dollars and more than likely triple to quadruple that estimate....when they start dumping their full timers that work over 35 hours a week but not the full 40 hrs.

It is a GIFT HORSE to businesses, and a huge BURDEN to us tax payers....

It makes Obamacare MUCH MUCH MUCH more expensive to us, but it gives employers what they ALWAYS WANTED, the ability to not offer health care insurance to full time hourly employees, without worry of not hiring or getting better employees working for them, because the employees can always go to the exchange if they don't offer it anymore, and it saves the business a bundle, especially with no penalties now, while costing YOU AND ME MORE.

THIS is bull crud to the nth degree....

So much for Republicans and their fiscal conservative FARCE.

Hopefully the Senate will be more sensible, and make this revision 35 hours.

Well I guess we have to deal with the law of unintended consequences. My healthcare use to be paid by my employer, was low deductible and now it's called a bronze plan, cost more and the deductible is $3500. If the government wouldn't have gotten involved, I would be better off, so in my life this law will change nothing. It moves us closer to the government goal. I tried to warn people, but I am through, people got what they wanted and now they will suffer.

This ACA is anything but and now we whine about the cost and the rules. We brought this mess on ourselves. Thinking government would make anything better or cheaper is utter BS.

The businesses aren't costing us more. What you don't seem to get is that without Obamacare passing FIRST, nothing else happens after that.

Hopefully, the farce of Obamacare itself will be revised right down the toilet where turds belong.

Not one republican voted for obamacare. Only democrats voted for it with the built in con that it wouldn't take effect til after the 2012 elections. Now everyone is finding out what was in it. Don't lie and call it a fact Care. You democrats made this bed and you have to sleep in it.

The Democrats played the politics playbook better than Ohio State played last night. They got what they wanted through politics then have a hissy fit when someone fights back with politics.

It's not only Democrats who supported the reform of the health insurance industry. Let's be real and honest, the health insurance lobby put on a full court press to prevent reform, and pretty much succeeded.

If we really want to reform the way health care is paid for, we first need to be honest and acknowledge the special interests own the Republican caucus in Congress, and manipulated the debate on said reform with lies, half-truths and fear mongering.

If the government raised taxes at a double digit rate most people reading this would have a fit; yet that is what the insurance industry has been doing for decades (See: exhibit 3 in this link):

Well THIS MEASURE does nothing to kill Obamacare, it ADDS TO Obamacare and it gets the employers off the hook for supplying any health care at all for their full time hourly employees and it pushes it ALL on to us...Thank You Republicans....and without it being a single payer...so it will cost us so much more,, and will be a huge raise in taxes for all of us....over and above Obamacare and what it has been projected to cost.... so KNOW what YOU are SUPPORTING here, all in the name of blindly supporting your beloved Republicans....YOU all ARE NO DIFFERENT than what you claimed democratic supporters were when O-care passed, ONLY you support big business and corporations OVER AND ABOVE the people of this nation....

Depends on what you call fucking over employees. You call an employer paying someone with $8/hour a wage of $8/hour as doing that. I call it paying them what those skills are worth.

Well, guess what, when the rest of us have to pay for their food stamps, we have a right to back to those employers and tell them to pay a fair wage.

The rest of us, including you, shouldn't have to provide food stamps to someone getting a skill level equivalent wage.

I've explained it more than once. If you're too stupid to accept that someone worth $8/hour getting $8/hour is a fair wage, that's your problem.

You know I love an honest debate but you can't debate with people who want to rewrite history and change the facts strictly for partisan reasons. Let's review

The republicans had no input into the aca and the democrats were proud of pointing that out, especially the president.

The president is the one who negotiated with the insurance companies and cut a deal with them

A majority of Americans have been opposed to obamacare since it's passage, more so now.

80 per cent of those with insurance plans were happy with them before obamacare was instituted.

There never has been any republican fingerprints on the aca, they have had nothing to do,with it.

For the sake of argument, let's say those mean old republicans conspired with the insurance companies. So shouldn't the party that claims to be watching out for the little guy, the dems, have made sure that the vast right wing conspiracy to screw the little people could not succeed, especially when they controlled everything? Another fantasy perpetrated by the left.

That a bunch of democratic staffers crafted a far left wish list into a so called aca program that is so riddled with operational incompetence that it is unworkable is absolutely and solely the responsibility of liberals and democrats. Any accounts that claim republican responsibility for anything ACA cannot be substantiated by the facts.

You've expressed your hatred of poor people pretty well, and demonstrated you are a horrible human being.

YOu haven't explained yet why cheating working people is a good idea or even good business.

I'm guessing those Min Wage kids have put all sorts of shit in your food.

You can't consider paying someone what their skills are worth as hatred. If someone is getting something equal to what they offer, that's fair.

I don't have to explain how someone worth $8/hour based on their skills getting $8/hour is cheating them because it isn't.

That would be typical of their kind. Don't give them what they want despite paying them what they're worth means that's how they react. I can guarantee you I don't know of any that have. Wanna know how I know?

Moron. Ask yourself a question - If you knew that companies were going to dump you on the exchange anyways, because it's cheaper to pay the fine, you are telling me getting over 30 hours and that additional money isn't a good thing for these employees? This bill allows them to get something from this mess that was taken from them by the ACA. Common sense, dude.

I suspect Joe would be OK with someone not being paid what they wanted, despite being paid what their skills are worth, do that.
