House OKs Plan to Withdraw US Troops

Dems promised they would stand up to terrrorists - now they want to roll over

democrats promised they would try to end the war in Iraq and start the war against terrorists. that is why we captured majorities in both chambers.

we were attacked by islamic extremists with headquarters in the hills of eastern Afghanistan. Our fight should never have been with secular sunni ba'athists in Iraq. America now knows that the invasion of Iraq was clearly a case of someone taking their eye off the real target and they are well aware of who that someone was.

and what have Dems accomplished - besides RECORD LOW POLL NUMBERS?

Democrats said they would try to end the war in Iraq. They wrote a bill that funded the troops and called for withdrawal deadlines for the troops - and that bill had wide support from a large majority of the American people.

Congressional republicans stood against the will of the people and sustained an unpopular president's veto of that bill.

THAT is why congressional republicans are held in much lower esteem than congressional democrats.

then have them cut off funding

the nerve of republicans to demand 60 votes - like Dems did

they don't want to cut off funding for troops in the field.

and I am not saying anything about the "nerves" of the republicans. I only point out that congressional republican's ratings are in the gutter, well below congressional demcrats...and I suggest that their actions on the very popular troop funding bill with withdrawal deadlines is a big reason their ratings are in the toilet.

Why not?

Reid already pulled the bill that would fund the pay raise for the troops

Their numbers are in the toilet because Dems have broken every promise they made to the voters

If you would read the poll - it does

Take it off your ignore list

I read the polls. It does not differentiate between current republicans in congress and current democrats in congress. It does compare congressional approval ratings with democrats in control versus historical data of when republicans were in control. But that is NOT the same thing as asking the american public:

what do you think of the job that democrats are doing in congress?

what do you think of the job that republicans are doing in congress?

Every single poll that has been taken - since before the last election -where those questions were asked has shown that the public gives democrats much HIGHER marks than it does republicans.

and you continue to run away from that FACT.

President's rating mostly stable since start of year; Just 14% give the new Dem Congress a positive rating—nine points below GOP Congress last October

While Bush’s job approval rating has stabilized, opinion of the work Congress is doing continues to plummet. The Zogby poll shows just 14% give Congress positive marks, while 83% give it negative marks – this in the wake of an acrimonious scrimmage over immigration reform that failed to pass muster in the Senate and died, experts have said, until after the 2008 presidential election.

A Zogby Interactive survey in the midst of the wrangling over that bill showed Congress’ job approval rating specifically in its handling of immigration reform stood at just 3%, while Bush’s rating on the same subject stood at 9%.

The Democratic Congress gets poor marks across the ideological spectrum – just 21% of liberals and 10% of the very liberal give it positive marks, while 14% of conservatives and 14% of the very conservative give it positive ratings. Among Democrats, just 19% give Congress positive marks, compared to 13% of Republicans and 8% of political independents.

By way of comparison, the Republican Congress had a 23% positive job approval rating last October, just a week before voters tossed the GOP out of their leadership posts in both houses.

ENJOY MM!!!!!!!!!

again... comparing the ratings of congress as a whole between periods when democrats were in control and when republicans were in control IS NOT THE SAME THING as asking:

what do you think of the job that the current batch of democrats are doing in congress now?

what do you think of the job that the current batch of republicans are doing in congress now?

every single time those questions have been asked, democrats win.

RUN AWAY RSR!!!!!

The facts do not back you up MM

Dems are sinking fast and they keep punching holes in the boat

those links are updated all the time....the latest one is only a week old.

they show the trend: every single time the public has been asked to grade the democrats in congress today versus the republicans in congress today...the democrats win.

seriously...go read those links... go see the trends... go see how democrats have been held in higher regard than republicans for a long long time.

Zogby must be like a splash of cold water in your face

Zogby must be like a splash of cold water in your face

apples and oranges.

one poll - ZOGBY - highlights the differences between overall congressional approval ratings today versus overall congressional approval ratings ten months ago.

the other polls - GALLUP, HARRIS, FOX, ABC, USA TODAY, PEW, CNN - highlight the differences between the specific approval of congressional democrats today versus congressional republicans today.

but keep running away from that. you have done it pretty much non-stop for months now....everytime a new poll gets released - whether it is Harris or Fox or ABC or CBS or Gallup or CNN or Pew... you run away for a week or so and then, after that, claim that the poll is old. it really is pretty standard RSR fare. Poll after poll after poll that asks the public to distinquish between their approval of the democrats in congress and the republicans in congress shows the same thing: democrats beat republicans.... every single time.

Seriously....go spend a little time on these two pages and then lets talk about them:

I'll wait.
