Have Republicans mortally wounded the Teaching Profession in this country?

Which is why Blue States have the most manufacturing. The best centers of higher learning. Fewer Bible Colleges. Repubicans think education is for snobs and think science is a faith. Which is why things have worked out they way they did.

The sad part is this clown really believes the crap it spews.

Why not? It's true. Prove me wrong. Oh, you won't even try. Why? Because you can't. Pathetic.

How does this relate to your original question/thesis?

No...the liberal teachers have done that on their own.

I'm so glad my grandkids are homeschooled....and they're pretty smart!

You get proven wrong all the time and you ignore it. Why? Because you have to continue your failed beliefs.

A leftist complaining about the state of education in a system that leftists have ruined, complaining about a conservative backlash in response to the destruction. . . .

In the meantime: http://www.usmessageboard.com/educa...public-school-girls-to-act-like-lesbians.html

The vast majority of public school teachers churned out in the last decade especially are statist, brainwashed ninnies.

There's nothing wrong with American education that universal school choice wouldn't cure in one generation, but then of course the control freaks and thugs of leftyism wouldn't control the system anymore.

Republicans can read those charts that show education leads to enlightenment and enlightenment leads to thinking and thinking leads to liberalism. Their answer, stamp out education. Call teachers commies, cite the cost, repeat anecdotal stories of student abuse, teacher commie labor unions, high salaries, fat teacher pensions, and poor results. Yet not too many call for new Boards of Education, new State departments of education just replace the teachers. I suspect most boards of education are conservative.

When is the teachers union going to stop whining about the unfairness of only controlling 2/3 of the federal government?

Wow...stretch much? If you really want to bitch....bitch about the corporatocracy that not only controls all three...but OWNS most of them too.

Your are wrong again rdean.
It's not that teachers are overpaid. It's that their pension payout is not able to be sustained. The Union demanded too much pay and the pension fund was not paid for.
We are teaching them how to learn ( like parrots) and not how to think. We need to go back to teaching our children how to think.
Santorum never said education was for snobs.
He called President Obama a snob.
What he really said-
“Not all folks are gifted in the same way,” Santorum told a crowd of more than a thousand activists at the Americans for Prosperity forum in Troy, Mich. “Some people have incredible gifts with their hands. . . . President Obama once said he wants everybody in America to go to college. What a snob.”
Some are not college material and do much better going to technical schools not colleges.

Just like the left keep saying that Sarah Palin said you can see Russia from my house. It was said by Tina Fey in a SNL skit. Sarah Palin never said it. Sarah did say you can see Russia from an Island in Alaska. Which is true.

Obama said he wanted everyone in America to be able to get an education and qualifed that with technical schools, Jr. Colleges, and Universities. He said no company will turn over a million dollar piece of equipment to someone without training.

It's a case of Republicans, fucking bastards, twisting his words again, just like "you didn't build that".

And what are GOP solutions? You seemed to have missed that part. As usual. Republicans have no solutions. As usual. They only know how to rag on others and tear down. They build nothing. The want to contribute nothing. They want to help no one. Not even themselves.

They had the voucher program and it was working very well in D.C. then Obama canceled it until the people made a stink about then he allowed it back.
The Repubs wanted vouchers for all the schools and the Dems didn't.
Anything that works and give us more choices and freedom the left are against it.
The problem with voucher systems is there is no accountability. It's taxpayer money being used to support private schools with no proof the money is being used properly. Private institutions, not being bound by traditional measurements of student progress, are not obligated to demonstrate that students are learning. We use things like standardized tests in public schools so we know the shortcomings of a school or class and we publicize results for all to see. Voucher systems do nothing to improve public schools rather they destroy them. Every voucher dollar that goes to a private school is a dollar taken away from public schools.

In case that steel plate moved around you should know that corporations R us. Everybody can incorporate and in fact an LLC is the best defense but not a sure thing against the thugs in the IRS who have been shown to be tools of the liberal war on capitalism.

Romney ain't your freaking enemy and neither am I . Maybe you think the mission of the IRS is to promote left wing socialism but I don't. Corporations ...R...us and the best defense we have so far against government abuse.

No...I think the IRS's mission is to enforce the tax laws that are in the books...and the law concerning 501c4's is that they must EXCLUSIVELY be a social welfare organization.....not PRIMARILY....but EXCLUSIVELY....that little loophole affects both left and right and has been ignored for a long time...since Eisenhower.

If you believe what Republicans have said about education and teachers, who would want to be a teacher? They are overpaid, can't teach, they teach communism, they're greedy, they don't work and they shouldn't be teaching "critical thinking skills" that indoctrinate children. In fact, according to recent suggested Republican policies, they should be "armed" and used to "watch over" children.
Republicans have used the last 5 years to smear and demolish the teaching profession. President Reagan said unions are a "right" and yet, Republicans have worked overtime to destroy teacher's unions. Not negotiate with, but detroy. And you have those like Santorum saying education is for snobs and that it's an insult to those without education to want it for everyone. And look at Texas with their "anti thought" party platform. And the way Republicans have "rewritten" history books. And their attitude towards science. And the weird way they keep insisting most Republicans have degrees. Very weird. It's like insisting most scientists are Republican even though, from every indication, Republicans think scientists are overpaid, worthless and only make money off government. We know that there are 3.7 million unfilled jobs in this country because companies can't find the skills to fill them. But if Republicans continue to go after teachers, doesn't that ensure there will never be the skills available? With everything Republicans want to tear down or defund, where are their plans to "build"? And won't teachers be needed to teach people to how to "build"?
:blahblah:

We think parents should be in charge again. They always were when America was internationally #1 internationally. When unions took over, they arranged to minimize the impact of parents on school in multiple ways. And to put parents in charge, we think parents should once again finance the schools, including putting some schools back in churches where they started.

Back to basics!

I know you don't get it, but money has not improved education in America, it has corrupted education. It's time to change failure back to excellence. Parents, not unions, are our only hope.

We do too....give them.the tools to be able to do so.... a living fucking wage where both parents don't have to be busting their asses and kids left alone with the TV to be their guidance.

But....that would go against the Conservative meme....so start the "you only get what the market allows bullshit to start in 3....2....1.

Parents are and always have been in charge of their children's education. They are the first and ongoing teacher of their children. Your post clearly indicates one of greatest problems in education. It is not a matter of being in charge of your children's education; it's taking responsibility for it. Parents today are not just leaving all education to the schools but childcare, discipline, and basic socialization.

60% the of parents in this country both work which means most kids are alone from the time they leave for school in the morning till the parents come home in the evening. In most of these homes, the extent of parental involvement in education is: "
How was school today"?
"OK"
"Any homework"?
"No"
An that's it. When they notice that their 7th grader is reading at a 3rd grade level and he doesn't even know the multiplication tables, they blame the schools, teachers, unions, government and everyone except who is really responsible.

Judging by the test scores it seems that teachers have single handedly ruined the teaching profession. American kids feel good about their ignorance anyway. The US ranks tops in self esteem. Republicans are just trying to stem the financial hemorrhage due to teacher's union demands.

Take a look at those countries that consistently out rank the US. You will find they have a strong centralized public school system. There is parental involvement but not parental control of the educational system. Teaching is a highly respected profession and in many of the countries highly paid.

Umm, what's the point? How many countries have a teachers union and a department of education that does nothing but exist on the taxpayer dole?
