GOP to make high gas prices a campaign issue

Predictions of record high gas prices this spring and continuing on through summer will certainly be a major sticking point in Obama's bid for a second term.
Record Gas Prices Bolster GOP Arsenal Against Obama

And yet, I seriously doubt they could come up with much evidence that could attribute the rise to Obama's policies.

That being said, the American people would probably buy it anyway. So, yeah, Obama should be worried.

Obama already said rising prices is because of an improving economy.

Unfortunately he's already said that his energy policies would "necessarily" cause prices to sky-rocket.

In layman's terms, Obama wants prices to go up.

That's not something he wants to talk about openly.

Iraq, which was supposed to PAY for itself, did not. That noted, YES, Obama will take a lot of heat over gas prices.

When he became President the price of gas was less than $2 and now it's heading toward $4.

He wanted the price to go up. It's like a tax on everyone. His fucken $40 extra a month isn't gonna cover the increase in food and gas it's gonna cause.

Are you referring to this administrations policies such as striking down of the Keystone pipeline for "political" re-election concerns, and the closing of 3 coal plants, while Federal Government investment into the Chevy Volt (which only reached ONE THIRD of it's 2011 production goals) increased? Let's see striking down further oil production while trying to force a failed green energy initiative onto the sales market, then watching Iran make more hostile threats as they further their nuclear ambitions . . . . couldn't possibly have any effect on future gas prices. :cuckoo:

Whatever they can do to force the price of fossil-fuels up they will do. They feel that is the only way can make alternative energy sources affordable. Problem is as the price of fossil-fuels goes up so will alternative sources as well.

If they rise he can push his agenda ... win or lose because "there are risks" yea there are risks in drilling as well as everything else to

If gas has to go up to ten bucks a gallon between now and election day, if it gets him out, it will be a small price to pay.

“Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe.” -- Obama's Energy Secretary

They really don't have much else to run on. I doubt that gas prices by themselves will torpedo his reelection chances.

That 40 bucks obummer gave everyone will be sucked up and given to the oil companies. remember this on your way to the polls. and then when it comes time for you to draw social security?? it won't be there.. ha ha suckers.

Blame Obama for the high gas prices ... and the ones blaming him all own stock in BP, Chevron, Exon ...

Not only that but who gets the most campaign funds from the oil companies?

Repubs need a better arena than this because if they start by trying to pin the price of gas on Obama it will bite them in ass!!

If gas does go up and it always does every summer the real threat to Obama is the economy. Once gas gets to $4 a gallon the economy starts to shudder, look at last year, and if it gets to $5 it will tank fairly quickly. Of course that is what the repubs are looking at but they can not say they hope gas prices go up because that costs jobs.

All it took was rising gas prices, an high sluggish unemployment rate, a record of unsatisfied Americans in the misery index, low approval numbers, and a hostile situation in Iran to get Carter out of office. There are a lot of similarities tied with that and the current Obama economy. Blaming Bush just won't cut it this time around. If you think this is a cake walk towards re-election, you are fooling yourself. Unless things drastically improve between now and november, he will need more than just great speeches and a bumper sticker slogan to earn a second term.

Just as the perception worked in the opposite direction, so should it work against Obama.
His leadership is in question.

As king of the big font, you are now lobbying for the leadership role on non-sequiturs.

You can believe that nonsense if it makes you feel better.
