IMO the best quickie sound bite came from Herman Cain:

(paraphrased) Mr. Cain, you have no public servant experience. Wouldn't that be a handicap? (or something to that effect.)

His response (paraphrased): "I'm proud of having no elected experience. Most of the people now in power have elected experience. How's that working out for you?"

I liked his answer to the gas prices question a lot, it was the best plan i've heard. @ 19:15

I also liked his comments on the federal govt @ 7:00

So I guess your point is that if you own a baseball team that is not doing well, your best option is to replace all the players with people who have never played the game before

Sarah Palin

Your avatar was photo-shopped. Mine wasn't.

That makes you a liar every time you post. Every single time, you start off with a lie. Because your avatar is showing something that never happened, it makes you a liar. It says you promote lies. You are slandering someone by showing and promoting a lie. Maybe that's your kind of patriotism, the fact you stand for a lie, but it's not mine. Good luck with that lie and that slander. It's how you want people to see you and it works. They see you as a slanderer and a liar. Hope that's what you want.

Just for the record, what is your avie? Obviously it is Bush. All I see is the back of someone's head he is hugging. I googled images of "George Bush hug" and can't find a pic like your avie.

Fail, lol.

Why fail? Executive experience....how much does Cain have?

Yeah, sometimes that would be the thing to do if your 'professionals' suck and you have a chance to get somebody with a proven track record for being able to throw, hit, and run. You certainly wouldn't do any worse. See my Monkey syndrome thread.

I guess if we need someone to run a pizza chain....he's your man

Has he ever been actually elected to anything?

No he hasn't.........and that is part of his appeal.

Santorum is creepy. The whole social conservative thing is a loser. I'm with Neal Boortz on social conservatism issues. If you want to hand a second term to Obama, just make social issues your main thrust. The biggest issues facing us today are the economy. Get that house in order before you attempt social engineering. I'll take Paul, Johnson or Cain over any other candidate being considered.

Nope and thats a good thing. How have our elected officials performed over the last 30 years? The value of the dollar, our debt level, our budget defecits, and our unemployment rate are not backing up your angle of attack at all.

The president is the head of the executive branch of the government, he is the CEO of the government. Herman Cain was a CEO of a big company and worked his way up to get there. That experience as a cheif executive and its more executive experience then Obama had, you think Obama is doing good right?

So um..the first elected position this guy should hold is President?

CEOs in general..make poor politicians..and much worse elected officials. The ones that do succeed, do so, because they give up many of the skills they acquired as a CEO.

I don't think Santorum is creepy and he has solid conservative credentials--I am not going to trash a man for having personal convictions that he won't compromise for political expediency--but he is too much of a media beat up retread, and I don't think he can get much traction.

We need somebody with the right conviction AND skill set who can capture the imagination of the American people, who is tough enough to withstand the media attack machine and doesn't give them much credible ammunition to use.

Obama certainly fit the bill in capturing the imagination of the American people. Unfortunately he had no principles/conviction he could or would defend, and he lacked the necessary skill set.

I'm hoping we will learn from that and not make the same mistake again.

I never knew how much my beliefs line up with Ron Paul.

I'd support a Paul / Cain ticket. Yep I just said that.

Don't get me wrong. I have no problem with personal convictions. Heck, I probably share many of his personal convictions. The difference between a social conservative like Santorum and me a libertarian is that I see social conservatism just as statist as liberal socialism. Both sides are at polar opposites, but they both want to use the government to push their social agenda. I seperate my religion and my politics. I want my government to do what they are authorized/limited to do by the Consitutution and nothing more. I take personal resposibility for my own actions and how I raise my children. I don't need the government to do that for me. I just think social conservatism is a wedge that hurts electing conservatives, and Santorum is a poster child. It appeals to some conservatives, but I don't think it is enough to win national elections.

That could be because the Republican Party and the media wouldn't give him the time of day last election. He was the "crazy uncle in the addict". Once they got him out of the way, they adopted much of his talking points. The difference is he walks the walk and they talk the talk. Welcome aboard.

Yes, some conservatives are arrogant enough to think everybody should be required to adhere to their social agenda. Many, if not most, liberals also think everybody should be required to adhere to their social agenda. So there we agree. I'm not sure that Santorum is guilty of pushing much of a social agenda at the federal level, however. I think he may be pushing the right of the people to have a social agenda however. And I have a hard time faulting him for that.

But I got involved in the Tea Party movement because it was focused on the correct emphasis at the federal level: fiscal accountability and responsibility, elimination of deficits and the national debt, a balanced budget, and Constitutional integrity. No social agenda.

I'm looking for a candidate with the credentials and skill set that also focuses on the Tea Party priorities.
