Yeah we are.
The term "democracy" does not refer to "direct" or "pure" democracy, it refers to democratically elected representative government leadership within the framework of a constitutional republic.
Other examples include democratically elected parliamentary leadership inside the framework of a constitutional monarchy (UK - Canada - AUS) ...and there are still more, and all are referred to as "democracies".

The people who insist that the USA is not a democracy are typically nationalist authoritarians and fascists, who by nature fear and hate democracy, and detest its inconvenience to their agenda.
 
Trump is a poor fascist. Reporters are openly hostile and haven't been rounded up. The Feds haven't taken over the media and shut down sites such as this where clear seditious opinions are generated.
He hasn't disbanded the other branches of government, or rounded up opposition and have them executed. He actually tried to come to a "gasp" common agreement. WTF!

So the chilling effect and normalization of "Die Lugenpresse" doesn't mean anything to you?
A generation already is conditioned to distrust a free press, and to seek confirmation from a controlled press.

Bullshit.
At this point an entire generation is controlled by a worldview of a press that has conditioned them to believe in platitudes and ignore reality.
A very free press and corporate run with a clear agenda of pushing what they view as a superior philosophy conflicting with roughly half the population. A politically correct worldview, in as what they deem correct. The hysterical press proves how free they are every night they rant.

If anything, the youth of today seemed to believe the MSM regardless of clear bias and have lost the ability of critical thought and questioning what they hear or read. Todays short attention span, quick click move on generation doesn't take the time.

I wish they were a little more skeptical.

Dear martybegan
so far, liberals have lost their mandate forcing everyone to pay under the political belief that health care is a right required through federal govt; and liberals in states such as CA and NY lost their right to deduct state taxes from federal income tax beyond a 10,000 dollar limit.

they also lost their right to represent their political beliefs through politicians like Obama and
Clinton who put party politics and beliefs before Constitutional oath and duty to defend interests of all citizens of all beliefs.

since liberals believe in pushing their beliefs through govt as the only way to ensure protection
and representation for themselves, they lost access through Clinton to abuse govt for such unconstitutional dictates biased by onesided beliefs.
