FDR Saved America ?

World War II saved the US from the Depression.

Demographic also played a large role in ending the depression. As for FDR- he instituted social security and it has become an under funded albatross and lured (unsophisticated) people into thinking the Government will take care of them in retirement.
Social Security is one of the great social programs of this country
Prior to SS, the elderly were on their own and at the mercy of the economy
Social Security is a Ponzi scheme the likes Bernie Madoff could only dream of.

If I had HALF what was taken from me for that bottomless pit, I'd be set for retirement before 55.
Seems you have no knowledge of what a Ponzi Scheme is or how Social Security works.
No, stupid statement. I know exactly how a Ponzi scheme works...which is why I know Social Security is not distinguishable from one.

Ponzi Schemes do not have legitimate ways to adjust income and outgoing funds to create a balance the way Social Security does. Ponzi Schemes operate on dishonesty where nonexistent funds or guarantees are used as a kind of collateral.

Why is that ?

In school we were taught that he saved the US from the depression by using public money to stimulate the economy.

Why does he rate such bile ?

As you know, as you have done this rant before, it's because he extended the Great Depression by SEVEN YEARS.
No,he saved the US from the depression. He applied socialist principles to clean up a capitalist mess.

not exactly-----he did EMERGENCY MEASURES------not a revolutioin. Stalin did "socialist principles

No it’s not

Ponzi schemes don’t survive 75 years
They do, if they are government run

Social Security is solvent
Ponzi schemes are not

You mean like Social Security, which is long past the tipping point and guaranteed to go bankrupt?
That has been threatened by conservatives for 75 years

Hasn’t gone bankrupt yet

There are currently about three payers for every recipient. This ratio will get WORSE, not better, as more baby boomers retire.

If I had half what was taken from me for something I will never see, I'd be retired by 55.

Maybe
But if you became seriously ill or injured before you are 65, Social Security would take care of you

.You did not explain your silly comment. All you did was offer rhetoric in an attempt to reinforce your nonsense of how a dead guy controlled something from his grave.

No one can accurately speculate how FDR would have handled the Soviets after WWII. Rember, he would have had the atomic bomb in his arsenal.

It should have been dealt with before the end f the war. Stalin should have been told he would not be granted the free range he was. FDRs reluctance to nuke Japan makes me feel like he wouldn’t have nuked Russia.

All of that is secondary in my mind to the domestic damage done by his policies.
FDR never had an operable nuke. First nuke test was not made until months after his death.

The USA gave free range to the Soviets because they were willing to sacrifice millions of Soviet soldiers lives killing millions of German soldiers and defeating entire German Armies on the Eastern Front so that US soldiers would not have to make those horrendous sacrifices on the Western Front.

Why have eighty years of Republican and Democrat Presidencies, Congresses and Supreme Courts supported and reinforced his policies?

Why have his policies been upheld? Simple, you don’t get elected by taken away entitlements. We are driving towards socialism and FDR put most of the gas in the tank.
His policies gave America one of its most prosperous periods, the Happy Days of the last of the 40's, the 50's, and early 60's.

And when you go out drinking you have a hell of a time, but you pay for it later. What he began is unsustainable, like getting falling down drunk every night.

Which entitlements are you referencing? Educate us about FDR entitlements.

He started social security. The entitlement of ALL entitlements. An entitlement for every living american.

You’re absolutely correct. We need to derail that train, by ANY means necessary - even Authoritarianism.
So what if the American people want a tad more of socialism? The people seemed to want Social Security and Medicare when offered.

Idiot! The masses will always accept a handout.

Because he did it by expanding government. they'll never forgive him for that.

What he said. Since then, there have been six Republican Presidents; all have expanded government to some extent as well.

FDR is consistently in the top three greatest America presidents and it is deserved. But Roosevelt was for the people and not the corporate powers, thus the hatred still. Imagine an America without social security, minimum wage, labor laws, and you have a banana republic. Imagine if his administration had not assisted Churchill. The American right wing today is managed by 'dark money' and 'invisible hands' and is too full of nonsense and false beliefs to see that. Money still gaslights the minds of the uneducated American.

See links in this post for great depression time line.

So FDR is one of the greatest Presidents of all time and Trump is the worst?

Tell us, is it because Trump was a racist? Funny, I don't recall Trump locking up Japanese Americans just because of their race, yet FDR was so much better? Why then is only Trump a racist? Is it because he implemented a travel ban on certain Muslim countries that Obama did before him?

So Trump is a danger to rule of law? Funny, I don't recall Trump ever trying to remove Supreme Court Justices and then add more so he could put his cronies in their so that they would change their rulings so his policies would get rammed through.

As for starting wars, why is it that FDR did not know about the attack on Pearl Harbor when the Japanese code had been cracked before the attack?

Funny, they used it just fine a few months later to destroy the Japanese fleet at Midway.

Sorry, what war did Trump help us get into? I don't recall any, yet FDR is sooo much better.

Funny, funny stuff.

Wrong! That weren’t at the mercy of the economy. They were either responsible for saving and investing for their elder years, or they were at the mercy of their own families and communities to take care of them. Now, the majority of elder Americans depend on SS during retirement. It crippled people, and it’s disgusting.

Yep, famiies were on their own before the Great Depression and my family had a nice savings account stacked away for old age. The second month after retirement he went down to draw a few bucks out and the bank was closed, never to reopen. Money gone. But at least there were local charities to help out. In a few months most charities had closed, they ran out of money and on and on. Sounds like the need for a few FDR programs.

You're 100% right. Social Security didn't start out as a Ponzi Scheme but, over time, it has become one of the greatest Ponzi Schemes in history. It makes Bernie Madoff's little game look like a family game of Monopoly!

The ships were lined up bow to stern and at Hickum Field the Planes were lined up wing tip to wing tip. One would thing that even with 3 days notice this situation could have been retified. Curious too as how all the carries were out to sea.

Now, on the 70th anniversary of Japan's devastating bombardment of the US Pacific Fleet at Pearl Harbour, Hawaii, evidence has emerged showing that President Franklin D.Roosevelt was warned three days before the attack that the Japanese empire was eyeing up Hawaii with a view to "open conflict."

The information, contained in a declassified memorandum from the Office of Naval Intelligence, adds to proof that Washington dismissed red flags signalling that mass bloodshed was looming and war was imminent.

"In anticipation of possible open conflict with this country, Japan is vigorously utilizing every available agency to secure military, naval and commercial information, paying particular attention to the West Coast, the Panama Canal and the Territory of Hawaii," stated the 26-page memo.
Pearl Harbour memo shows US warned of Japanese attack
We received multiple warnings of potential attacks. There was no credible reports that an attack on Pearl Harbor was imminent.

The threat that was considered most credible was sabotage. That is why planes and ships were clustered

The size of both oceans was considered to make us impervious to a direct attack. Then there were the inevitable screw-ups. Radar operators spotting incoming planes but, since they were from the North, they were believed to be American planes.
