Eliot Spitzer made this world a better place

He took the hooker across state lines. for some reason, that complicates things.

This is why I have a problem with most politicians resigning over this stuff.
Violating the Mann Act? Oh no no no no no.... just makes it a federal felony is all.

THEN of course there's the minor issue of using election campaign funds to do it.

Notable individuals investigated under the Act

Emphasis, mine.

Yet, Cons gave Vitter a standing ovation in the Senate, for doing the same thing.

Is that supposed to let Spitzer off the hook somehow?
It's a failure of the "appeal to equivalency" logic trap.

A couple of critical differences in the cases.

Vitter was not accused of a crime. He came forward and admitted his use of the D.C. Madame. He did not hold a position with law enforcement power, but legislative. His activities were discovered as a result of an investigation into a prostitution ring. He has stayed in office, even though his position was severely damaged and chances of his re-election (barney Fwank not withstanding) is in doubt.

Spitzer on the other hand WAS the Governor with law enforcement powers, and therefore held under a different set of ethical standards. His suspicious economic activity as governor caused the discovery of the prostitution ring and his heavy use of it over the years including the time before he was a governor AND investigations into the use of campaign funds to pay for prostitutes. He resigned instead of being impeached, by HIS OWN CHOICE, instead of fighting the charges.

Some fucking hero. They're both scumballs. Vitter should be thrown out, but hasn't and chose not to resign, and no impeachment charges are pending. Spitzer, facing impeachment and even more, wisely, quit.

You can search both men on wikipedia to get even these barest of valid comparisons.

All good points, with one minor quibble. Vitter stood for re-election in 2010 with the details of his Diaper Fetish well known, (It's technically called infantilism) and the people of his state re-elected him anyway, due to a combination of a weak opponent and a GOP wave. He doesn't have to worry again until 2016.

Other than that, I agree with everything you said.

yeah... well no accounting for some people's lack of taste. Bawney Fwank is still in office too. Not that I'd want to be sharing a political dingy with that legislative loogy, that's for sure.

Yet he banged a hooker.

Still one of the greatest politicians in my lifetime.

I liked his show. Shame it got shit-canned. Can't remember specifics but seemed I agreed with him about near everything.

I'd like to see him back in the game. The stuff he outed was incredible..and it saved this country from financial ruin.

Elizabeth Warren is running in Massachusetts.

Although Scott Brown has shown himself to be a far better Senator then I thought he would be..it would be great if she was in Congress.

Very bright and capable man.

He broke the law.

He paid the price and now is still a capable and bright man.

Wha-wha-whaaaaaaaat?

This is news to me. I loves me some Elizabeth Warren! :)

The man couldnt govern himself and you are arguing that he is the greatest politician of your time?

Well, i suppose he could be the greatest politician. That seriously isnt a compliment though.

Yep

PITTSFIELD -- Testing the waters for a U.S. Senate race against Republican incumbent Scott Brown, Elizabeth Warren stopped just short of diving in during a stopover in Pittsfield Friday evening, where she met with enthusiastic Democratic supporters.

The former Obama administration consumer-protection official told the fired-up crowd of more than 100 at attorney Sherwood Guernsey's office that she intends to complete her statewide "listening tour" -- 16 stops in all by Sunday night -- and meet with advisers before making an announcement, expected after Labor Day.

Bernie Madoff has an investment plan for you. He's already sold it to a few thousand people before you.

Interested?

Oh come on... he ONLY made a SIMPLE mistake!

He's still a bright and capable man!

It got complicated when he went after Wall St. and corrupt Republicans.

It backed-fired on him.

Yeah. The republicans forced him to screw a hooker and taker her across state lines.

Nope, Republicans never forced him to do anything.

His downfall was his own making.

Politicians don't make it to the top without having some kind of dirt that can be used against them in the event that they step out of line.

I stated nothing but facts.

He did break the law and then face a court and punishment.

He is a capable and bright man.

You stated nothing but opinion.

He's still under investigation.

He was never charged.

I thought he was charged with something.

November 2008, prosecutors in charge of the case announced that Spitzer would not face criminal charges for his involvement in the sex ring citing they found no evidence of misuse of public funds and therefore pressing charges would not serve the public interest. Spitzer offered an apology for his conduct saying "I appreciate the impartiality and thoroughness of the investigation by the U.S. Attorney's Office, and I acknowledge and accept responsibility for the conduct it disclosed."[

Where did the democrat party ass kissing left ever get the idea that Wall Street was the enemy? From Chairman Mao or Bill Ayers? Maybe Barry Obama put that little socialist idea in their vacant heads.

I would like to correct this because I was wrong.

i thought he had been charged and punished for something.

He did indeed break the law and admitted it.

The system looked at his entire record and decided not to charge him with anything.

Our system has spoken about his crime in the way they saw fit.

He admitted his wrong doing faced the system and appologised.

He is still a capable and bright man.

he is a flawed human being.

May the first perfect human being please step up to throw some stones if they would like.
