The rich people of Martha's Vineyard turned up with food, warm clothing, and all kinds of help and assistance for "those people". But they have no resources on that Island to take in refugees.

The refugees arrived in the fall, after the hotels were closed and the staff had returned to schools. There was no housing, no hotels and few restaurants. They didn't even have adequate medical facilites to examine and treat that number of people. There were no government offices for refugee intake or processing. Not to mention, there were no jobs for these people on the island except during tourist season.

After giving the residents food, clothing, and financial assistance, the residents ensured that the refugees were taken to an area in the state that did have the government offices, access to medical services, and all of the other services they would need in their resettlement.

They have scripts to read claiming they are seeking asylum when they are not. We have those who just ignore our border and come here illegally. We have the Cartel traffiking humans illegally We have always gladly accepted immigrants who come here LEGALLY. Today, our border is wide open and people come here illegally. We do not know how many and don't know who they are or what they will do. That's the real problem.
