Doctors will not accept it

Meantime, 6 years later, after over 33 votes by the republicans to repeal ACA, the beat goes on. The percentage of Americans who are uninsured has reached an all time low. Not one of the serious candidates is even screaming about ACA any more (they have all jumped on the illegal immigrant bandwagon). Private insurance companies, who are the actual insurers, have reached unprecedented heights in their stock values. The American business community is joyfully anticipating the day when they will no longer be the only businesses in the world with the responsibility of factoring in their group health insurance costs into their product prices. Hospitals are thrilled that someday, they will no longer have to treat uninsured walk-ins for free. Yet, with all this, there are still whiners who feel that things were better when insurance companies could simply refuse to insure you under any circumstances. Rave on!

Each year we see articles projecting huge increases in premiums but when we look at the actual average increases across the country, the average is 5 to 6%. Before Obamacare, we saw announcements of 30% to 40% increases in premiums in various areas but the averages usually stayed in a range 3% to 5%.

We haven't been saying that for to long considering the aca is still pretty new.
And it was supposed to save us $2500 a year.
And the point is if it goes up 40% somewhere it's going to price some out of the market and thats a fact.
It'd be no different if your car payment went from six hundred bucks to a thousand...pretty sure you'd be trading it in for a cheaper model.
I really don't remember the details of the $2500, but I'm pretty sure it was meant as an average family savings. It included millions of people that now receive free medical care through the Medicaid expansion in 30 state, plus over 6 million families that get insurance subsidies, and of course those with higher incomes that get nothing from the government.

For those now covered under Medicaid and those receiving large subsidies, the ACA is certainly saving them big bucks. For those that aren't receiving any help from the government, they are paying more. Is the average family saving $2500? I doubt it because it was just a projection and no one really knew what savings would be realized and what additional costs would be incurred.

You danced around the facts with great alacrity.....
What facts are talking about?

You're right.
It was never health care.........it was a way to raise taxes under the guise of health insurance.
A scam. Fraudulent like everything else Obama.

It. Is. Not. Health. Insurance. It is also not healthcare. It is a law designed to give more Americans *access* to healthcare, so that maybe the barista adding extra foam to your latte can get a flu shot so he doesn't coffee in your latte.

Dang! They certainly do charge a lot for "access".

The ACA will never be repealed even if you have a republican congress and a nut in the whitehouse like Trump. The ACA is far better than nothing but there are changes needed. Unfortunately, the sides are so polarized on the issue, that needed changes to the law are impossible even thought they would reduce cost and improve coverage. Of course it's the same problem when it comes to immigration and taxation.

I do not share this doctors wish for single payer but he outlines obamacare a failures pretty well. What Obama supporters fail,to realize is,the democrats and the president set it up to be this way.

No matter what proponents claim obamacare is going to,cost more, than originally claimed, going to insure less of the uninsured than originally claimed, and going to impoverish more of the middle class. This program meets all the criteria of obamas gold standard. Make more people dependent on govt, make income inequality greater, and destroy Americas foundation, the middle class. This will be his legacy.

And I don't know about other people's expenses but my insurance premiums during, obamas presidency have had more years of double digit increases than single digit with one year being 20 percent, oh yeah , that is with a 5000 dollar deductible.

If you have insurance you can't pay cash and have to wait, if you don't you can get procedure right away, fact.

Yesterday I called the doctors office to ask why another doctors office had not contacted me in over two weeks. I said I had not had a call from anyone. Nurse was apologetic but said that due to obamacare they were only supposed to communicate by email. Thanks Obama are for removing any semblance of the personal touch. Great bedside manner.

Like some cheese with that whine?

$820??
Although premiums and subsides vary by age and location, at a wage of $10/hr, subsidies for a singe person at age 30 would cost in range of $40 to $200/mo. depending on the plan in most metropolitan areas

I check healthcare.gov in Orange county Fla, a 30yr old single non-smoker would pay between $42 and $116/mo after subsidies depending on the plan. That's a long way fro $820/mo.

The OP stated the dollars. I know that Fascist Care has driven costs up dramatically, but don't know what a single person normally costs. Now the OP did state that he didn't get welfare (subsidies.)

The OP seems to have disappeared after sharing that little fable. If s/he was not subsidized, that suggests a fairly high income. Or, given the ignorance that ObamaCare is not an insurance company, I doubt there's any truth here.

So, you personally profit from Fascist Care, thus paint a rosy and utterly false picture.

Most of us here are victims, people who have seen massive year to year increases in the cost of a care plans, while quality continues to decline.

I pay $1,360 a month for health care. it is a premium plan with dental and vision that covers my whole family. That is a whole lot of money - which continues to rise. Fascist care is a disaster for costs.

There is no such thing as Fascist care. If you want to be taken seriously, kindly use the correct name.

Besides, I thought you people called it "Socialist Care." Make up your mind.

Obama's Fascist Care, the merging of private business such as George Soros' Blue Cross, with the federal government.

It's called "fascism."

If you want to be taken seriously, kindly use the correct name.

You are profiteering off of fascist care, obviously.

For those of us who are victims. we have a dimmer view of it.

How is anything about me obvious? I'm a name on a message board. But given the dishonesty of the rest of your post, I can understand why you feel the need to just make things up.

If everyone is to have healthcare coverage, there has to be trade offs. IMHO, having higher deductibles are better than higher premiums and higher yearly maximum out of pockets.

Cheerleading anything as fucked up as fascist care can only mean one thing, the cheerleader is personally gaining from the scam.

This could mean that you are just getting your neighbors to pay for your health plan, or you might be invested in a Soros Hedge fund, or in some other way getting a cut in it.

Oh, and what "dishonesty" do you allege?

If you want to keep talking about this imaginary "Fascist care," go right ahead. The adults will be talking about the PPACA.

Of course. It's amazing how many people really don't understand how health insurance works...

So you lack any semblance of education, I get it.

The ACA is classical fascism in action, the merger of corporate and governmental power structures. The state sets goals which well connected corporations execute, using the power of the state (IRS) to enforce.
