What makes it feel inappropriate, besides the fact that the boy looks like he could be in Kindergarten, is the fact that they are also posing for the camera by looking at it. It makes the viewer have a sense that the children are aware of what they're doing, and so it doesn't feel natural/innocent, if that makes sense.

I have a feeling that is exactly what it looks like real time. This is not a baby..... this is a self aware child.... aware of itself and its surroundings.... the world is bigger then just his mother and her breast. I am very sure this child pays attention and watches what is going on around him while he feeds....so why not look at what the camera man is doing.

The mother..i also see looking at people and into people eyes as she feeds. Daring anyone to say anything. Its a challenge....do it.. say something...i dare you!

But... the bottom line is...its her child. She is not breaking any laws

Those kids look too old to still be breast feeding. They both look almost school age, especially the boy.

Three is too old to be breast feeding a child in you live in the USA. The kid can use a cup, why not pump instead of breast feed if you want the kid to continue to get the benefits of breast feeding. Something wrong there with the Mom not Time.

I think it's a bonding thing.

You'd think the kid had bonded already.

It's disgusting. When a baby nurses, it's one thing. When an older child is locked on to his mothers tit, it's something else. It's sick. It's degenerate.

Seems kind of like sexual exploitation of a child. Seems kind of like child porn to me.

Women can be such ridiculous creatures.

It for sure bothers me but I don't know why.

I for one think it is weird when women breast feed their children until they are four. I think breast feeding is very important. I breast fed and my son has been a healthy kid, the kid has titanium immune system. I am sure it isn't just from breast feeding, but I am sure it helped....On that there is a point when you have to let go.

But we are also told to not find it weird when women breast feed in public. So there is that?

Personally, I think you should cover yourself up. When I was breast feeding I was not all about showing the world my breast. But hey if you want to show the world your breast then that is your choice.

I don't think they went too far. If it's the truth then why not report it.

Now, the mother on the cover, she goes too far.

Exactly, I agree. It's the mother who goes too far. I wonder what else she does with that kid when nobody's looking.

Disgusting.

3 years old? That's too old to be breast feeding. Mom has issues, and kid will have major issues in the future.

i know women who have breast fed up to 5 yrs old...as odd as it is to us...its natural to them

:eusa_think: Hmmmmmm...
Let folks decide for themselves?

I suppose that there ain't nothing wrong with good, old fashioned "FREEDOM!"

The Time cover as an in-your-face public image sorta creeps me out.

Nursing a child is a discreet matter, imho. Some American families discourage it after the child cuts his or her first tooth. Apparently, others have a different vision of age-appropriate weaning.

Pushing limits seems to mean smarter and more advanced to some. To me its just lack of class and desperate.

I don't think anybody here objects to breast feeding in any form or fashion, and that really isn't the issue here. The boy shown is four years old, going on five. And if it is the decision of the mother to breast feed him at that age, well it is her child. It seems wierd and somehow wrong to me to be breast feeding at that age but it isn't my kid.

But to put that photo on the front of Time Magazine has the potential to make that kid's life a living hell later on when his friends and classmates have opportunity to taunt him with it. Don't people think these things through anymore?

The kid in the pic is five, and what leads you to say issues will be involved?

This has been a hot topic amongst women for years, I just wanted to see what a mixed bag had to say about it.

wanna bet the kid will get some shit at school....he better hope a Romney kinda kid aint there....:eusa_eh:

Or an Obama kinda kid either. In his own book he recounts bullying and beating up on a girl. Of course the Washington Post didn't choose to write a half book dissecting that event did it.

But many if not most kids can and will be very cruel when they are handed ammunition like that magazine cover.

Yeah, the freedom of a mother to make her child forever and ever known as the boy from that creepy Time cover.

And the freedom of children to do what comes naturally and tease the bejeebus out of the unweaned kid.
