"Let's be clear," Obama said. "The real voter fraud is people who try to deny our rights by making bogus arguments about voter fraud."

You should talk.

From the Associated Press below:

The election-year warning comes as Obama seeks to mobilize Democratic voters to fight back against state voting requirements and early balloting restrictions that many in his party fear will curb turnout in November. The president vowed that he would not let the attacks on voting rights go unchallenged, but offered no new announcements of specific actions his administration planned to take.

The president pinned efforts to curb access to the ballot box directly on the GOP, declaring that the effort "has not been led by both parties. It's been led by the Republican Party."

For the remainder of the year, no political issue stands out more prominently for Democrats than their ability to motivate voters to turn out at the polls in November. Control of the Senate, now in the hands of Democrats, is at stake, as is Obama's already limited ability to push his agenda through Congress.

But traditionally weak midterm turnout by Democrats coupled with efforts in some states to limit early voting and to enact voter identification requirements have prompted the president and his party to raise alarms and step up their get-out-the-vote efforts.

Republicans have long argued that identification requirements and other voting controls are reasonable measures designed to safeguard the balloting process, not to suppress voter turnout. Democrats say photo identification requirements especially affect minority or low-income voters who may not drive and thus wouldn't have an official government ID.

Anyone with half a brain can see through this bogus argument.

Perhaps most on the left have less than half a brain to believe these snake-oils salesman's argument that requiring a photo I.D. is okay if you want to buy cigarettes, or booze, or even get into one of the Democrat's events, but you can't expect blacks to carry one to the polls.

Oh, and Obama uses the "going for ice-cream" argument he used for illegals when he attempted to suck in gullible women into thinking that Republicans want women voter disfranchised if they haven't registered under their married name. Total nonsense. Showing the poll worker who probably knows her personally long before she was married, would accept her driver's license with her maiden-name still on it. Obama forgets that you can re-register to vote when you go to the DMV to get your new license.

What a liar this guy is.

The dumbass arguments Obama brought up in opposition to voter IDs apply to Republicans as much as they do to Democrats. There are elderly Republicans & Independents; minority Republicans and Independents; and female Republicans/Independents who's IDs may reflect their maiden name instead of their married name.

There's only ONE reason Obama is opposed to fair elections and that's because fraud is the only way many Democrats get elected in the first place. Just ask him -- he should know.

IDs are a huge problem, but they aren't the only one.

Republicans are not only requiring IDs but they are involved in:
-Making the registration process, difficult.
-Shortening Voting days and hours.
-Closing up balloting stations in Democratic areas.

This is all done to suppress the vote. And Republicans aren't shy about it either.

Republicans Admit Voter-ID Laws Are Aimed at Democratic Voters
It’s been clear for a while that the voter-identification laws the GOP has been pushing are aimed at suppressing Democratic constituencies. And Republicans are fessing up, says Jamelle Bouie.

When liberals decry voter-identification laws as tools for voter suppression, they aren’t arguing ex nihilo. The evidence is clear: identification requirements for voting reduce turnout among low-income and minority voters. And the particular restrictions imposed by Republican lawmakers—limiting the acceptable forms of identification, ending opportunities for student voting, reducing hours for early voting—certainly do appear aimed at Democratic voters.

Indeed, in a column for right-wing clearinghouse WorldNetDaily, longtime conservative activist Phyllis Schlafly acknowledged as much with a defense of North Carolina’s new voting law, which has been criticized for its restrictions on access, among other things. Here’s Schlafly:

“The reduction in the number of days allowed for early voting is particularly important because early voting plays a major role in Obama’s ground game. The Democrats carried most states that allow many days of early voting, and Obama’s national field director admitted, shortly before last year’s election, that ‘early voting is giving us a solid lead in the battleground states that will decide this election.’

President Ronald Reagan made a statement about extending the Voting Rights Act, saying "for this Nation to remain true to its principles, we cannot allow any American's vote to be denied, diluted, or defiled. The right to vote is the crown jewel of American liberties, and we will not see its luster diminished."
Why voting rights is the Democrats? most important project in 2014

I find myself in agreement with President Ronald Reagan on this..

Voter ID will provide nothing that a valid signature doesn't provide today

I think Reagan was talking about "living" Americans and "legal" Americans (but we should ask him when he arrives at the polls).

As for making things harder -- every single day things get harder in America. Healthcare is harder thanks to Obamacare; Commercial Driver's Licenses are harder to maintain thanks to the Federal DOT and their new CSA program; filing the annual tax return will be harder next year; etc.

There's nothing at all wrong with doing what is necessary to reduce voter fraud even if we all have to take a couple of extra steps to make it happen.

What a load of crap.

And the instances of voter fraud are miniscule.

Voting is a right. Everyone who wants to vote..should. And they should not have to wait 5 hours on line after traveling 3 hours to do it.

Republicans have already openly stated they are doing this for purely partisan reasons.

That..should be against the law.

Signatures can be easily faked.

Besides, a signature from a dead person shouldn't allow the forger to vote, but they do.

No they don't.

Out of the 197 million votes cast for federal candidates between 2002 and 2005, only 40 voters were indicted for voter fraud, according to a Department of Justice study outlined during a 2006 Congressional hearing. Only 26 of those cases, or about .00000013 percent of the votes cast, resulted in convictions or guilty pleas.

It's a ridiculously small number.

I find myself in agreement with President Ronald Reagan on this..

Making it more difficult to vote makes it more difficult to cheat.

Shortening early voting to only one week would lesson the chance of Democrats busing illegals from state to state.

You're going to have to prove your bogus hours claims. Link.

Democrats control Democrat areas, so if they're being closed Democrats are to blame.

Waiting 5 hours in line is pretty easy compared to signing up for Obamacare. Try waiting for days.....

Give us a few quotes about how GOP members admitted to this hogwash.

I suggest setting up a scan bar on everyone's Social Security card, load their information into a server and kick it back if the SOB already voted.

What? I thought it was .0006%.

My mistake. Thanks for the correction!

Then immediately slap the cuffs on them and cart their ass off to jail. We'll see how many black women want to brag about voting seven times for obama then.

In North Carolina alone they found voters that matched votes in other states. Over 35,000 illegal votes were discovered.
