There is already a word for these people. It’s communist.
Clearly the ignorance of what ‘socialism’ and ‘communism’ actually are is also on the rise in the age of Trump, this post being one such example.

Indeed, ignorance in general is on the rise in the age of Trump.

What about Marx's veneration of the working class as Gods, versus his damnation of the wealthy--and thus their primary beneficiaries: the middle class--as the great evils of civilization? How would that philosophy apply in modern America?

And the social imprisonment of his chosen: the working class?

Did anyone else actually bother to read their website?

In their own words: "We believe that working people should run both the economy and society democratically to meet human needs, not to make profits for a few."

Does that really sound so wrong? If so, why?

Yes. Yes it does. The people mentioned in the sentence you quoted is a synonym for the government. Big, controlling government. I agree, the idea of people actually running the government sounds awesome. But it has never happened. Not once in history.
Please explain why you think that. Does it say or imply somewhere on their website? Or is it just what republicans think?

There will of course have to be a government. Will it be large or small? I don't know. It certainly isn't getting smaller under either major party, could these folks really do any worse?

From the piece:

"There are 42 men and women running for offices at the federal, state and local levels this year with the formal endorsement of the Democratic Socialists of America, the organization says. They span 20 states, including Florida, Hawaii, Kansas and Michigan."

"The most ambitious Democrats in Washington have been reluctant to embrace the label, even as they embrace the policies defining modern-day democratic socialism: Medicare for all, a $15 minimum wage, free college tuition and the abolition of the federal department of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, also known as ICE."

What do you think, fellow Americans and others? Has the Democrat Party run out of other options? Do you support the idea of a socialist America, and if so, why? Is anything but "Trump" justification in your minds for voting socialist?
There is no such thing as the ‘democrat party.’

As for the Democratic Party, it in no manner advocates for any manifestation of ‘socialism.’

Democrats are practitioners of, and advocates for, free market capitalism; indeed, they’re business owners and corporate managers who all benefit from a free market economy.

Democrats are also pragmatists who correctly understand the fact that capitalism is not perfect – unchecked it can adversely effect workers, consumers, and free markets as well, that government regulation of business and industry is perfectly appropriate and warranted, and that government regulatory policy is necessary, proper, and Constitutional – none of which constitutes ‘socialism.’

It is infantile. I can tell you, highly successful people work far more hours and far harder than the 8 to 5 crowd.
Which has exactly what to do with what I quoted?

No, if you don’t think about it and take it at face value, it doesn’t. But I’m sorry, I have an education and a lifetime of experience. I know it’s 100% garbage.
Insulting non-response rejected.

If the corps get socialism , and if by socialism you mean healthcare for all, Yes. Also I believe in progressive taxation for that, and the rich should have that top bracket moved up to say 45%.

What is your justification for taking nearly half of one's income?

I don't. I pay taxes and want my tax money going to Public Schools, Medicaid and HUD, SNAP and CHIP.

How do you feel about corps living tax free and allowed to pollute?

Thank you for your response. However, it does not include an opinion on the concept or philosophy of the democratic socialist movement in America--regardless of how small it currently might be.

It’s true. Ignorance has overtaken intelligence. That’s why HIllary won the popular vote.

Please explain your interpretation of socialism.

It opens up a whole new window on the slogan For The People. When this fails, they will have to run back to old faithfil, the socialist revolution.

I'll put myself out there first.

I voted No.

I view myself politically as a Paleoconservative. Defense of culture, family and nation are of first importance in defining my political views. That being said, like many others, the journey to get 'here' has been a long one. Over four plus decades I have come full circle from conservative Democrat roots, to explorations of atheism, Hinduism, borderline radical leftism back to conservatism tradition of Christian roots and cultural preservation. Today, I find the concept of a socialist America to be a very troubling one; antithetical to the will of our Founders and the foundation concept of the Constitution. Ultimately, I believe in a balance between liberalism and conservatism under which tradition can be preserved while a degree of liberal philosophy prevents stagnation and popular push for radical change.

Which culture, and what do you mean by family? Christian roots gave us slavery.

The traditional culture of America--which is an amalgamation of many beneath the mantle of a foundational one. No, for many of us, Christianity gave us a personal foundation and a tradition of heritage upon which to live and grow. Family is very obvious; we all have one.

What do you mean by family?? A personal foundation is given to us by the people who raised us. We the People have freedom of religion.

Why should it be moved to 45%? The more money the government brings in the more it will spend. New taxes will not fix the problem.

Yes, we do have freedom of religion. We do not have the right to deny that freedom to others, or remove religious tradition from our American culture or founding origin. Once more, family is evident, as is the right and freedom to defend it.

That's smart.

Waco is communism, and socialism is actually Christianity , not capitalism.
