Dear GOP, "Buying more weapons is NOT "investment"."

Republicans haven't mentioned "investment" in any of their policies.
Do Republicans know what "investment" means. One gets the feeling that for Republicans, "investments" mean "spending for fun". We know they want to build more weapons. But what else to Republicans want to "invest" in? How do weapons help the economy? Where are their plans on "revenue"?

Maybe you should talk to Obama about this, he is the one shooting all the weapons off right now.

Um, Really so the thousands of US workers in the Defense industry making those weapons Having a Job is not investing in the economy. IC. So stimulus giving some people temporary jobs is investment, but Buying arms from US companies isn't. Strange logic.

Since when is it the Federal Government's responsibility to invest? Which clause of the Constitution grants that power?

And btw, handing stimulus money over to campaign donors who don't do jack isn't really investment either.

"We know they (republicans) want to build more weapons". what are you like 16 years old Dean? Democrats set the standard for weapons in the bloody 20th century. Woodie Wilson looked Americans in the eye and said he would never send Americans to fight in Europe. More than 100,000 Doughboys died to save France and we had to do it all over again in two decades when another democrat had his fingers crossed. Give 'em hell Harry Truman dropped two big ones on Japan. Five years later he let Korea get out of hand and we lost another 35,000. LBJ faked the Golf of Tonkin and got us in to a no-win war in VietNam. Tell me again about republican investment in weapons?

Can anyone name 2 "investments" by the government that actually produced profit?
There was synfuels and shale oil. Those were busts. Wind power and green jobs were busts.
When gov't talks about "investiing" hold on to your wallet.

It is true that the military industrial complex provides jobs.

But, If the government left that money in the economy jobs would be created to build homes, etc.

Well, unlike you, they probably know that the meaning of "investment" has nothing whatsoever to do with government spending.

How do weapons help the economy? Seriously? What, because you don't think defense contractors and gun manufacturers hire and pay employees, dumbass? Because we'd have any sort of economy at all if we didn't provide for national defense?

Once again, your post is shit-stupid. Only what I would expect from you.

What a brilliant idea. Let's halt every cent of defense spending so that it can "stay in the economy" for warm, fuzzy uses that liberals like, and let's see how much of economy we have when we have no way whatsoever of defending our country.

Ass clown.

"ufuzzyses that liberals like"

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its labourers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

-Dwight D Eisenhower, 1953

Considering my Dad made his living in government contracting (working for North American Rockwell, aka Rockwell International), I can tell you it sure put food on our table.

He was a supervisor on the Saturn V (Apoll 11), the B-1a, the Trident Submarine, and a Manager on the B-1b.

It sure kept my Dad employed and food on our table for a lot of years!

rdean is just, once again, making it clear he thinks "investment" is slush fund payments to the unions.

So Republicans are saying that building more weapons IS investing in the economy?

That's the thing about the defense industry..it's a dead end trade. While there is a need for it..it really shouldn't be as big as it is. They produce items, that if used, creates a huge money pit..and if not used..rots.

There's no real good outcome except for the fat cats.

NO. Members of these forums are trying to educate *YOU*.

Uh, you might want to review a few of those posts Sparky. They are definitely saying that "weapons building" IS "investing in the economy".

Typical Republican. Ignore the facts so he can show everyone how enthusiastic he is in hating. Pathetic. Pathetic and sad - but predictable.

Do you have a clue how many people work for Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Raytheon, etc.?

There are careers beyond Burger King, Festus.

Well...they definitely DO want to INVEST in more subsidies for Oil companies, because you know, like, they're bearly able to rke money in hand over fist and need some help counting their profits.

And they definitely do want to invest money money in SUPPLY SIDE because there aren't enough bubbles in the investments markets to suit them.

And I have no doubt they want to invest in more police state powers.
