Congratulations to the GOP

TED CRUZ and Mike Lee are the models that I hope these women follow . Joni Ernst doesn't sound like a pushover , non confrontational woman to me !!

No one in the mainstream is going to follow Cruz or Lee anywhere.

Lee has been kissing as here with the mainstream since the primary laws changed, making him much more vulnerable to a mainstream primary challenger.

Cruz is a smart man who represents middle American values of honesty, decency and fair play.

Good night for Republicans. Not actually a terrible night for Democrats, who didn't lose nearly as bad as they did in 2010. If you think back just 20 years, Democratic senate candidates kept things relatively close in states like Kentucky, Georgia, and other places that used to go easily Republican and by about 20 points. They only lost these races by single digits.

Everything changes now. Republicans are no longer the opposition. They now get to govern and I'm interested in seeing what they decide to do now that they're in a position of leadership.

John McCain now becomes head of the Armed Services Committee, and he has said we should end the sequester on the Pentagon. He is pushing for additional defense spending.

Some Republicans are pushing for more tax cuts.

Those two priorities cost money. What will they cut? Will they now try to raise some revenue so they can pay for their stuff?

This is going to be an interesting 2 years.
Are you kidding? Normally the GOP is lucky to knock off 2 senators. They cleaned the clocks of 7 of them. As for the House, we haven't seen levels like this since WW2. Tuesday was a tsunami; not a freakin' wave.

No, he is not, and you are not middle America, AvgGuy, if you support the Canadian Cruz.

We did well in the Senate because there were no Angles, Millers, witches, etc., for a change.

I am so glad the mainstream leadership is in charge.

You don't sound like a republican Jake. Ted Cruz is a great American and since he's Hispanic, you are a bigot for saying anything negative about him. P.s. He is not a Canadian. Are you a birther too?

Just a slight correction ... The House hasn't had the same Republican advantage since 1929.

.

Criticize Cruz and somehow someone is a bigot.

AvgGuy is a bigot for first noticing TC is of hispanic background.

Who cares? Apparently avgguy.

Son, that racisim is not part of the party. Aplogize for being an ass.

I just want to remind that the votes from both Alpha and Beta Proxima III plus the colonies on Andoria and Rigel XI haven't come in yet, they arrive with the next mothership and then, the Ds will have this on in the bag!!!

Ok, that was a joke.

They will arrive per transporter beam, instead.

:D

Just saw that there will be over 100 women in the Congress for the first time ever. Good to see.

That is good to see, Candy. I think the gals tend to be less confrontational...which at the moment is what we need. Let's get this economy going again!

Stop re-enforcing gender stereotypes.

C'mon, Marty...it's only a stereotype when it's not true! Women are less confrontational than men.

Let's compare the two styles.

At issue is the following deal - A sandwich shall consist of strawberry jam or dog shit. One side favors jam and the other favors dog shit.

Men are confrontational in standing up for their position. Men will fight to reject putting dogshit in the sandwiches they eat.

Women will seek a compromise between the two positions, a strawberry jam AND dogshit sandwich.

Being non-confrontational can be good or bad depending on the circumstances. A compromise is not always the best way forward. Sometimes it's simply better to completely forgo eating a sandwich rather than having to choke down a strawberry jam and dogshit sandwich, getting half of what you wanted doesn't always actually produce a better outcome than getting none of what you wanted.

3 or 4 DEM senators retired. If Harkin or Rockefeller were on the ticket, they wouldn't have been in play. Plain and simple. The GOP would still have the Senate I think but there is a reason for the dominance. Policy differences are real but the Parties are closer than they are different.

The parties are indeed close to each other, so this new alignment isn't going to change much. The political class views the world in one way and the citizenry views it very differently. The Democrat and Republican leadership are both very pro-immigration but the citizenry doesn't see the sense in flooding the labor market while so many people are unemployed. One would think that a political party, one or the other, would take the anti-immigration side of the issue, but both reject that view and there's not much difference between them because they're both beholden to the Capital Class.

As for retiring Senators, that happens every election. Further, it seems pretty weak to claim that Rockefeller would be immune to challenge when we saw Republican Senators being primaried, Roberts fighting for his life, etc and West Virgina has been transitioning towards becoming a red state for quite a while now. Rockefeller having an easy time at the polls isn't really a sure bet.

2016 has a lot of R seats up, too. The next 2 years will be interesting. I really don't like the idea of any single party controlling the senate, house and the white house, so ultimately, the judicial. Too much power ... well all politicians are already corrupt.

The Senate is now controlled by the GOP. Congratulations.

At least now we can minimize the damage that little idiot will do. Go shoot dice, smoke crack, and have some quality time with your very, very special friend Eric Holder, Mr. President. Better be quick about it because that little prick may be spending time in a jail cell really soon. What a miserable disaster you'll blot American history pages as. You know the old saw, Mr. President: either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. Now git.

"the old saw"???
