Commentary: Don't cut our (public) health care - CNN.com

When asked how she had insurance coverage, Nancy explained that because her husband was a retired coal miner, they received insurance and care through the United Mine Workers. She attended the town hall because she said she had "had enough of the government interfering with our lives, after working hard all of our lives, especially to get the health care."

The historical reality, however, is that there would be no UMW health and retirement plan without the federal government. Our inability to acknowledge the real role of government plays right into the hands of private companies that have never solved the challenges of health security.

This is a good read on the reality of the the "socialism" fear mongering of the right...

you notice how the people fighting this always have good health care through their employer?
what about the person who checks them out at walmart every day?

To quote ONE GOP supporter on these boards: "Fuck 'em"

I was watching a show that I won't mention the name but I always remember what the guy said.
He said he didn't mind working hard to support his children, that is what a man is suppose to do but why can't it be just alittle bit easier.
Right now I don't have health insurance mostly because I chose to go to college again so I could find a good job one day so therefore I have to work part time right now. Of course right now where I live I probably couldn't even find a full time job with benefits.

Why do the GOP cloned sheep ALWAYS avoid these types of threads?

There are ALWAYS exceptions to the rules...and Axelrod uses YOUR taxc money to find them...and then publicize them.

I never heard of ANTYONE not getting cancer treatement becuase of an acne condition.

Heck, I have NEVER heard of anytone being denired cancer treatments...and I have had MANY friends and relatives go for treatments.

ANd yes, the GOP are sheep....but so are the dems.

REAL americans that do not follow "party lines" know what is up.

Obama is a charleton and his days in office will come to an end after a rough 4 years.

The right is WRONG ---if it is true that the federal government COMPELLED the mining industry to provide health insurance then you have FASCISM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

...The Fascist State organizes the nation, but leaves a sufficient margin of liberty to the individual; the latter is deprived of all useless and possibly harmful freedom, but retains what is essential; the deciding power in this question cannot be the individual, but the State alone....

That's from the West Wing.
2nd episode of Season 4, if I remember correctly.

We don't avoid these type of threads we just totally disagree with you.

Government resume:

Social security-broke
medicare-broke
medicaid-broke
medicare- broke
freddie and fannie- broke but bailed out
the postal sevice-broke.

Now a nationalized plan, no thank you, any idiot can see that they are clueless when it comes to running anything. Should this plan HR3200 pass AND YOU CAN PASS IT WITHOUT ONE REPUBLICAN VOTE you will have a system that resembles

The IRS when it comes to compassion
The Postal Service when it comes to efficiency.
The reaction time of FEMA in it's response to Katrina.

And it will look like the aftermath of Katrina when it's all in place and so will this entire country, because it will collapse under the enormous debt.

how many times do you have to be told what we think? and why? you don't believe it anyway.. so talk to those who agree with you,, that's the only thing truly makes you happy.

Most of us were in that place somewhere in our lives Luissa. I remember years ago my husband had to have a heart cath.. No insurance. But we had the heart cath and paid every nickel of it back in small payments. Took awhile but I got it done. Then when I became educated and got a decent job the insurance was a part of life. It never occured to me that someone else should pay my bills. Maybe our brains are wired differently.
