This has been brewing for 3 years, at least:
from a Russian perspective, they definitly see any gain for the US as a loss for their country, blaming the collapse of their economy under Jelzin conviniently on US advisors that in their mind intentionally sabotages Russia.
From an US perspective Russia is nowhere the threat it used to be. The Warshaw Pact is dismantled, the Soviet Navy is obsolete. Their airforce lightyears behind, the economy not modern, mostly based on oil and gas revenue.
I agree with you. Question: are you back in Germany? Your spelling seems to be reverting, perhaps just in a hurry?
