Clarification for a political ideology

Name one person in the world that could accomplish that? There is none. It's their game and their rules. Rule #1 is "They win, every time."
Trump beat them....Perot could have beaten them, if he hadn't acted like such a flake.

For better or worse, the populists are now easily the largest constituency in the GOP....Some of the best news about that is that populists aren't ideologues, and can be swayed if you make sense.

But if you've already lost the battle before you've even made any move, what's the point, eh?

My ideology is the same as Republicans and classic liberals was in the 60's. It's past tense now a days. Ever since Reagan, the GOP has become more and more big government, big spending, big regulations etc etc etc. All under the guise of "conservatism." The original term was RINO. Which meant a Republican who was not conservative. Now it just means any republican who's not in lock step with Trump.
Trump is a rino.
The GOP is the big government successor to the Whig party. They've always been for big government. It was Democrats who were for small government (the only time the US was debt free was under Andrew Jackson, a Democrat). Of course all that changed after the Civil War. Now we have two big government parties.

Agreed.

Both sides were somewhat fiscally conservative. And constitutionally for the most part. At least up until LBJ & then Reagan (on the spending side). Once Reagan became president, everything seem to go into hyperdrive. The Korean & Vietnam wars were the start of the MIC control over our government. Apparently it was very popular to, and easy, to get kickbacks from the MIC. And they had easy selling points. Just make it seem like your defending democracy and people won't hardly object to the ballooning deficit and the thousands of body bags coming home.

If the citizens did object, they were easily labeled "Anti American." Some other innuendo.

Trump didn't beat anything. He may have won a small battle, but not even close to winning the war.

Trump is nothing more than a remake of Reagan. Same conservative speaking abilities, with the same dem-lite policies of spending, growing the size and scope of government. The same caving to the left, because he is on the left. He didn't even try to drain the swamp. And he won't this next time.
Trump is a "if you can't beat them, join them," type guy, so you can claim victory. This is why he didn't appoint an anti-FBI guy to the FBI. An anti-FED chairman to the Fed. He didn't appoint anyone who would try to get politics out of agencies that weren't political. Like the FBI.
And even if that's his goal this time, it'll never happen because no one is going to stick their necks out for Trump now days. His closest allies have a way of getting indicted and going to prison. He's toxic.

At this point, I have no doubt that Trump is going to win. He may even win in a land slide. This next election is not a rehash of Trump/Biden. But a Reagan/Carter rematch. It was all glorious when Carter got beat. But by the end of Reagans 2nd term, the deficit and the debt had ballooned. The government size and scope had ballooned. And all those fancy conservative sounding speeches were overshadowed by massive inflation increases by the time he'd left office. Which was a complete opposite of what everyone considered Reagan to be. Conservative.

To turn this country around, get our politicians back in line, it's going to take a lot of brain-unwashing. It's going to take someone who's exactly like what people think Trump is. But Trump isn't who his supporters think he is. "The concept of Trump is much better than Trump himself."

But getting everyone to come together and make that happen, is impossible. Unless something catastrophic happens. But even then, I think too many people would look to those elected officials to fix what they screwed up. And not just simply replace them.

IINM, the President can only appoint a member of the board of directors to the chairmanship of the FED. So he has limited legal choices there. I think he has more flexibility appointing governors of the regional banks, who are then eligible to become chair.

You're right. He'd never get an anti fed chairman appointed. The Fed itself would oppose. Not that it matters, but they do have significant influence in the government.
