Just heard on NBC Nightly News that Chrysler repaid the loans not from profits, but with bank loans and bonds sales.

So Chrysler is no better off than it was before.

They should have gone through bankruptcy. They'd have been better off.

WHY IT MATTERS: Chrysler still owes the U.S. government about $2 billion from the original $10 billion in bailout money. The sooner it shows a profit, the faster it can move toward a public offering of stock.

The 12% interest the federal government charged Chrysler for the bail-out money should be a signal to the whole planet that the only thing bogus about the federal debt of the United States is the the refusal of the Boehner/Tea Berseker GOP to raise the debt ceiling.

They make 12% on stuff they borrow for nearly free!

The new notes at Chrysler now has to pay on are a lot cheaper than what they were charged.
